More like 11 years later, my highschool baseball coach played this for us my sophomore year and I'll never forget it. The good thing about sports is that even though you may stop playing someday, it'll always help guide throughout your entire life whether that be finding the confidence to go after a new job or figuring out how to balance adulthood as a young man. Sports taught me how to be competitive in whatever I do and how important it is to stay healthy throughout your entire life. For that I am forever grateful to God for giving me the opportunity of getting to be an athlete in my childhood days and luckily throughout my college days 🙏🏼
I've played baseball since I was able to pick up a bat, and this motivational speech breaks the barrier beyond the game, and relates to my life. All these years later, as I struggle to "Grind" through my path in becoming a doctor, this speech still holds meaning, and pushes me.
"luck is the last dying wish for those why believe that winning can happen by accident. sweat, on the other hand, is for those who know it's a choice." such a great line
As a forme baseball player. This video helped me so much during my career, I worked my ass off at a state champion contender high school for four years and eventually earned a scholarship to the University of Kansas to play. I lost that scholarship because I lost my way, hit the bars way too often and hit the books less than I should have. For all of you that still have the PRIVELEGE of playing the game, take it from me, do not take it for granted. No matter how talented you are, how hard you can throw, how well you hit it can be taken from you at any point. I've been out for a year and I miss the game more than anything in the world. All of you high school kids working your way to the next level work your fucking ass off because when you sign those papers it's the best feeling in the world. But it doesn't stop there guys. It's only the beginning. Remember that
Damn bro that was touching. People make mistakes though it's life so don't be too hard on yourself. Are you still gonna play at a JC or try out for an independent league team?
These words can be applied to anything in life. Not just athletics, this is true for academics, career advancement, the pursuit of a passion. These words are incredible.
Commented on this two summers ago. I was just a sophomore in highschool, channel name Fornix Cribby. After that summer, waking up every day, and facing "The Grind", I can finally say that I have made it. I was given scholarship to UCLA, after 3 months of no responses from TCU, I decided I would take the step towards becoming part of the Bruin squad, only 3 days before heading up to the campus to sign, I was called by a TCU Scout, he said that he had wanted to meet with me, the day I was supposed to go to the UCLA campus. I immediately booked the trip to Texas, and now am proud to be a part of the 2017 squad at TCU. Can't wait to feel the grind more and more, love it every day. Go Hornfrogs!
I am starting MED SCHOOL this fall - for most people being a doctor is NOT worth it. i'm 25.. I have 4 years of med school n ill be in 250k of debt while studying 80 hours a week. I want to do cardiothoracic surgery - that's 8 YEARS of residency training until you can get a full license (6 year surgery + 2 year fellowship). Ill be THIRTY SEVEN when I get my first actual job and start paying off my loans. I am pretty athletic and there is NO way i'm giving up my body even with what's in store. the only hope I have is ironically NOT the money, job security, social standing, etc i MIGHT get if I follow through and succeed - it's the respect, the adherence, and the love of the JOURNEY.. the GRIND. Can't wait!
Thank you so much for sharing this with the world. I've been listening to this every morning since I first came across it. It's so true and so realistic and really so motivating. Awesome. Awesome job.
Im a 14 year old going into highschool. My only goal is and has been to make my schools baseball team. I told my self I would do whatever it takes and acquire every skill i need. I then realized that what i was missing wasnt strength or speed, it was motivation. I have watched this every day multiple times because after watching this I am reminded of my goals and have new found energy which helps me reach my goals. I will work hard this summer and do everything I can. Wish me luck!
the day after my highschool team got back from 3rd in state, we were up at the field at 6am preparing for next season. this video is exactly right. Winning isnt luck, its a choice driven by self-motivation. If you really want something, go get it.
honestly the most inspirational video i have ever seen! this is why i love the game, it pushes you to ur fullest and you win as a team and lose as a team theres no point in looking in the past cuz u cant change a previouse inning, only go up to that plate and step on the other teams throat and show them no matter what they do u and your team can to twice as good and score twice as much. you have to prove yourself in this sport which is fantastic because when u work as a family on one team u WIN!
This video has taken on a new meaning for me… I’ve watched it for years to motivate me to run, to get up for daily boot camp, etc. but today it’s motivating me to fight to help my dad through multiple cancers and health struggles! While recently I would watch it and feel like I failed because I know I have that drive but haven’t been able to apply it to personal fitness…I flipped a mental switch tonight that while I’m not crushing it exercising, I have this same determination to help my dad with his cancer and all of his treatments that are never ending! So while I’m not crushing it and ending up in a certain smaller size of clothes, I know I’m devoting my motivation to family and I will never regret that decision!! Thank you for this video! Also, I love the horned frogs!!
I think everyone needs to watch this for whatever motivates them…I sent to all my friends with the same sentiment… I want them to watch without just the fitness/sports lens….this sentiment translates to all walks of life!
Funny thing is, this is exactly how my life is. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday I get up at 5:50 do a morning workout with my trainer, then head off to school. I am a 16 year old Sophomore from Newport Beach. Everyone thinks we get anything we want just because we are rich, no, I have worked for everything I have EARNED. And I wouldn't be where I am without this video. TCU is my goal, I have some interests from bigger schools, like UCLA, for baseball. But unless I get myself into TCU I am not satisfied, go HORNFROGS!
Jesse Flores Seriously, he's one of the few teenagers out there who not only has goals, but is taking the correct steps to achieve those goals. Most kids these days would rather sit and watch tv or bs on the computer or go out and cause trouble. We should take that into account, and be happy that there are still a few kids out there who are headed up stream, chasing success, rather than waiting on opportunity to come to them.
Push towards it man. I was a slow swimmer at the end of a year last year. I told my self that I was going to make the division 2 swim team. So I got up every day during my summer and pushed myself until my shoulders gave out. Dropped 2 seconds in my 100 freestyle and now I'm swimming for the team. I get up Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 am for practices, lift 4 days a week, and swim 9 times per week

This is great. I wish my college team had seen this - back in the day. It would have helped us to fine tune that all-important voice that speaks all day long to each of us.
Holy shit this video gives me thee chills and the inspiration to work and never give up and not listen to those who dought me and to believe in my self. Man only if could play for TCU
i turned 20 one week ago today. graduated HS at 19. red shirting my freshmen year just to train. JuCo for 2 years. D1 ball for 2 more. Ill be at the pros by 26. can not wait to see the look on everyones face.
My favorite morning motivation. I recall countless 4am wake ups and walking over to the recreation facility and getting in a good swim work out. I'd use this video to quiet the mind and silence the ego.
I would fall asleep to this video nearly every single night for about a year when I was 12. Totally failed on my baseball dream but that’s not the video’s fault. Hearing it today more than 10 years later makes me wanna try and walk on to my local JUCO.
Man I love this! I play Jr Hockey here in Canada and before EVERY workout and EVERY game I put this on! I honestly feel like it makes me play better! It just fires me up!
From there it only gets tougher, so just make sure this is something you want, because the easy way out will always be there ready to wash you away, all you have to do is pick up your feet... but you aren't going to are you? with each step comes the decision to take another, your on your way now, but this is no time to dwell on how far you’ve come.
This guys voice. It is so epic. It gets you so focused on the video but his speec also speaks the truth. And the music just adds to the epicness. So for these reasons, I do listen to this and not for a baseball game. Just to help me get through my day no matter what.
The is a very inspirational video. We Love it!! Our boys play baseball, and often watch this for motivation. Thank You!! Wishing you a GREAT season TCU Baseball! Go Frogs!!
i got chills at the end when he said "and when your time comes, and a thousand different voices are trying to tell you you're not ready for it, listen instead to that lone voice of descent that says you are ready, you are prepared, its all up to you now"
listened to this probably 30 times, but actually hearing it before your about to do somthing big! My god my body has never felt so cold. Literally began to shiver it gave me the chills. never happened to me before. holy crap though
Thank you. I'm gonna face the fear and lets just hope I can crush it before I go on the field. Have an awesome summer and keep enjoying this sick motivational video!
I used to excel at baseball. But I quit for a stupid reason, and I sacrificed a possible college scholarship for baseball. I regret that. Don't make the same mistake as me. Don't quit on your goals when it gets tough. Push through and achieve the greatness that you deserve!!
