Goddammit my Amazing Friend... I'm trying to put together a present for All Fires... he has done amazing in his competition so far... if you have a chance, send him some support and a message for the next half he has to fight through. I have a special beer ready to send to you
I really don't want too many Predators or revealing too much back story and lore. I think The Predator 2018 went wrong with the Predator not being mysterious at all, so much Predator in well lit situations and loads of exposition making the species less mysterious. Where Prey and the first Predator went right was with how mysterious and spooky this line hunter was.
Also they won’t need the mud for camouflage, the orange flower that is used to stop pain & bleeding lowers your body temp. That was a cool cheat like the predator camouflage.
the movie shows us a early version of the predstor with no plasma caster and his face is almost like he couldn't see properly so it uses the proto biomask to see clearly like eye glasses and also would it be ironic to see the yaujta honor code was based on the natives rather than they use the honor code as their own it would be awesome to see naru insparie the yaujta to develope the honor code by the humans.
This movie has alot of parts that will surprice you. Did you know that when naru was telling it to come after her and the predator did not realize it was a trap, and he felt for the trap, but in the orginal predator when Arnold was luring it into the trap the predator stopped and went a opposite direction, this is because predators keep a log of all their hunts so other predators learned from it. This is also why they didn't go with mud to keep naru invisible, or else the jungle hunter predator in the future would of know about it and kill Arnold, this is also why the technique did not work in predator 2.
If I'm thinking right the predator in the first one only had heat vision. In the second it had a couple more selections meaning he's right they kept a log to see different ways to track people
I hope we get more self contained Predator films like this, films where the Predator gets dropped into different time periods. I'd love to see the next one set in feudal Japan
No. Because instead of a cool Samurai fighting a predator movie, it will be a Samurai dies fighting a predator, and a geisha will kill the predator instead.
Midthunder did an absolutely amazing job in this movie. She had a great mix of vulnerability and fearlessness and I hope her performance gets recognized and she gets offered more acting jobs. I really enjoyed this latest entry into the predator canon and hope they have more in the works.
They explained why they speak English. At the start of the movie she speaks in her native tounge, then it transitions into her speaking English. So in universe, they are speaking their tounge. Also the fur trapper tells her " you can talk to me, I speak many languages". We hear English, the characters hear whatever language they speak
I remember seeing video explaining that Predators actually see humans as the most dangerous prey in their entire known universe. Due to the weak and scrawny features of a human, they thought first it was an easy foe. However, the unpredictability and unparalleled survival instinct made the human a worthy opponent and should never be underestimated, hence the very reason why they keep coming back to Earth. Movie was great overall. Great underdog story.
Actually floating you read the comics humans are more of allies to them and help them with hunting skills thus why they keep coming back they have also fought way more other creatures and aliens that were more of a challenge than humans
Every mainline Predator movie ends with a Yautja getting their ass handed to them by a human being. Considering that this movie is their first canon encounter, they must've spat out their coffee out when they heard about us developing nukes and landing on the moon only 250 years later. They should've picked a more peaceful planet to vacation on.
True, true, if its a young ones first visit to Earth, everything including the humans, is unfamiliar too it, which ties into the unpredictable nature of everything it encounters such as the bear...
This movie made me so happy as a huge Predator fan. I had such high hopes for Shane Blacks The Predator, and it was just so awful. Prey, on the other hand, is fantastic. Please give Dan Trachtenberg another Predator film in a different era.
Yes, I'd prefer more small-scale conflicts set in different times and places, rather than the larger scale sequel Heavy Spoilers wishes for. If the Predators are happy to take on pre-industrial warriors then suddenly, we could see installments with respectful depictions of anyone, from Zulu to Mongol to Viking.
You can tell this was made with pure fan love for the predator, its so nice to see predator back to his roots hunting stalking prey, and it was bleedy too loved it.
@@crow_g1639 Far from only that. But we have seen the topic of feminism over the past years 100 times. How can you like to watch the same thing? :)) LoL
My favorite scene was the 1 v 1 with the bear. I also liked the way they displayed the predators combat skills and agility. In the other films we have only seen them use their guns / sword . I think this pred was way more lethal then the super pred
No Predator has ever done that in the history of Predator films. They are a discreet and secretive race of hunters, there’s no way that they would ever seek out a friendly interaction with humans. At best, they may let you live for being a respectable warrior or work with humans for survival purposes like in Alien vs. Predator. Honestly the easter egg at the end to me implies a much darker outcome for Naru. The most likely way that gun somehow found its way in the hands of another Predator is if more of them landed on Earth and eventually one of them killed Naru and took the gun as a trophy in respect to her for having put up an impressive fight.
The CGI animals were worse. That bear was ridiculous and why was there a random wolf on its own? Wolves don’t roll alone, no such thing as a lone wolf. That wolf wasn’t injured or old either. Seemed in pretty good shape to hunt as it did. The rabbit was horrible too lol. Rabbit just ran straight and didn’t even switch directions 😂 The dog outran a damn bear! Sorry but I notice little things like that.
My eyes gleamed with nostalgia when the iconic "if it bleeds, we can kill it" & "come on, do it" were mentioned...sadly there are no choppers yet to shout at tho 😕 haha As a predator fan, this is a 10/10 movie for me 🙌👏
This movie is so bad I am only watching it in 10 minute segments. In the first 30 seconds they identify the area of the "Northern Plains" covered with mountains ? DUH !! Although the plains do go up to Montana is usually refers to flatlands more than mountains which do cover the Western part of Montana. Then it identifies the Comanche tribe , who were only in the Southern "Plains" as being located there in 1714. What a disgrace this movie is. Did anyone in production read a book before they made this heap of garbage ? Oh , and the Native Americans apparently wore clothing that spanned the entire Indian Nation with every imaginable mode of dress from across the country. I will watch it to the end just because I am a masochist.
There's also the nice mirroring between the mountain lion and the predator. She spears the mountain lion which her brother admits is what allowed him to _bring it home,_ as she' lamed it. He spears the predator and and tells her to _bring it home._ She also figures out how to kill it by watching it fight her brother. Just a nice piece of story craft.
I liked that the Predator used "less advanced" weaponry than the first two movies, being a prequel and all. Spears instead of lasers. Although the longer claws is more something that was used in the much later movies starting with AvP.
I believe they would still have the more advanced technology but some predators prefer the older more primitive weapons for a hunt. The same way in today's era some humans like to hunt with guns while others use arrows.
Taabe and Naru were great, he’s definitely superior in skill yet he is able to work with her and utilize her strengths to bring down the big cat, she definitely respect him so much she risked her life to take down the punk who cut him and his killer. The Predator using cloaking to beat Taabe says that it knew he was too much for it. If it wanted to test it's self it would level things up and engage with less significant advantages.
That is true although the Predator receive some damage before he wasn't at his best. Table though give him a run for his money and would the predator hadn't use camouflage, things may have ended up differently
To be fair The feral predator used cloaking on all the hunts except the frontiersmen massacre, those guys sprung a good trap but their trapper mentality kicked in and they didn't rush it and finish it all at once or we'd have a swiss cheese space invader, the trappers had little to none in terms of combat skills.
@@marcogomez2736 Yeah true, but it took a while to patch itself up when Naru was tending to Adolini. Taabe wounded it more than the bear did lol. The Dude is a badass and so is Naru.
Definitely liked the approach they took with the franchise. Lowers the cost by casting this way and can hopefully dive into the some more of the predator novels.
They can’t. It’s all non canon from the actual predator lore. By already claiming this is the first predator to hunt on earth and the pistol was from a fur trader. The real pistol was from a pirate who actually fought alongside a predator who then gave the pred his pistol. Also in the real lore predators have been there before 1700s.
My favorite part of the movie will go mostly unnoticed. It’s when the Comanche hunting party faced the predator. The one warrior who jumped in front of the downed tree to engage it. They didn’t run, they faced it. BADASS
I agree with 9/10. One of the best feelings about a movie is right after it’s over, you want to be right back in that world again. This movie did that for me. I want more of the tribe. More of Naru. More of that time period.
Predator’s overzealous hunting demeanor is what brought him down. The movie shows the predator particularly focuses on the hunter not the hunted. It’s attention is always on the alpha which in this scenario it’s what gave Naru the upper hand in the end. Naru being the hunted (bear), native (frontiersman) and a female (her tribe) made her a less interesting hunt for the predator while giving her multiple opportunities to learn to kill it. Also each of the predator’s previous encounters weaken him; in the meantime his exposure to her made her stronger.
Predator species The Yautja have a code when it comes to killing their prey. The weak and wounded aren’t most likely to be killed unless to be put out of the misery. Some people or animals could be harboring chest bursters and therefore must be mercy killed. Predators also do not kill people without weapons and zero signs of hostility. They also don’t kill humans who show signs of being pregnant. Most of the characters here and even in scenes his visor was focused on the natives holding weapons like spears.
I was blown away how well this film turned out. Love the timeline and how the natives were pitted against predator. Hope to see more this good in the future!
I liked how she booby trapped the trees with wooden spikes for the final battle. They put a lot of thought into this film, definitely the most serious movie since the original.
We need more native-featured movies in general. The simplicity and reliance on nature is so refreshing, and I think the Predator was a perfect fit for that theme.
This is the Predator movie we've all been waiting for. There was always a sense of menace about the Predator in the build up to seeing it engage with the bear.... When it started taking out humans it really showed what an apex hunter it is. Loved the movie, and so glad the franchise is back on track, hope we get more like this, the Predator is my favourite movie alien
I love how the predator is thinking rather than just killing all in its way. They also gave the predator a character or an attitude, its a good hunter but it is arrogant and underestimated the comanche which led to its downfall.
How could it not be an improvement? The last movie was hot garbage that had the predator hunting autistic kids or something...I dont remember I didnt finish it
I like how the theme of this movie is literally "PREY" from the natives hunting animals, to animals hunting animals, to the Predator hunting humans as prey. It's really cool.
thing is, THIS predator didn't come here specifically to hunt the indians, he was researching the animals and trying to find the apex predator at the top of the list, the indians just got in the way until it realised they were worth hunting
A great original concept for once regarding the Predator franchise. Loved the way the hunter was portrayed and how he seemed "primitive" in his own right, despite being part of a much more advanced alien species. My only complaint is we really didn't get to see the predator collecting trophies other than the wolf skull. Would have been bad ass to see him adding the grizzly and the fur trapper's skulls to his trophy collection. I hope they continue with these prequels
Good idea, now that you mentioned that. That would have added more to the Predator in the movie. I felt more could have been added in that scene with the Predator killing the Grizzly.
The movie is amazing. The story and the music was so refereshing. This movie tried to be its own and it is successful in doing so. The movie has the suspense and horror of the original predator movie. It kept me captivated and engaged. This movie should have been released on theatres. I will give it 9/10.
the movie was great, i really like that the actors in it are of actual native american origins and not ones just cast in the roles to play them. the director did confirm this the predators very first time on earth in this movie. so, absolutely loved it. it get an outstanding 10/10 for me. like paul said, the movie really had me hooked and even my dad enjoyed it. have a safe and great weekend, everyone and god bless to all of you.
I noticed that the scene when she's covered in mud and is leaning against the tree stump is very similar to when Dutch is muddy and hiding in the tree roots
There is an interview where the director says something along the line “This isn’t an “origin” movie as it is, the feral predators first hunt.” Meaning it is this specific type of predators first hunt, not the species as a whole. meaning avp would still be canon.
I really enjoyed this film, it was suspenseful, the action was awesome and the predator was intimidating and badass. The protagonist was good as an underdog type character and I found myself rooting for her at the end. A good movie,7/10 from me.
@@ItIsTaeee yup.i thought it was more like a bull dog version of the predator 😅.but its okay since this one is actually from a another part of yautja prime.
I REALLY liked this movie! I can’t believe they didn’t release this in theaters! I’m super happy for Amber Midthunder, I’m really glad this movie is getting such positive reception and she should be very proud of her performance! The cinematography and the score were both very well done, and it’s just so awesome to see a new Predator movie that was actually really good! I still can’t believe that we finally have a new Predator movie actually worth watching!
I'll tell you why. I grew up a trapper. And a hunter trained by one of the best, who himself was trained by one who had forgotten more than most had ever known. Not bragging just factual. First native Americans didn't just shoot hawks out of the air just for nothing, one because they might loose their arrow , and they were to hard to make, and to hard to come by. And we're needed and very essential for survival . Two her dog got caught in a steel trap made in modern time version , they didn't have those type at all, plus it was a number three trap with a chain designed for a bear trap that is far far bigger. You wouldn't do that either. And catching the dog by the tail ? Total impossibility. Besides cutty his tail right off, not happening. Absolutely the dumbest movie I ever tried to watch. I had to stop there. I couldn't watch anymore. I'm also a history buff. They were way off on the native American stuff.
This doesn’t touch the original IMO. The main problem going against this one is the lack of a great Predator, as in the creature itself. It was far too easily outsmarted at the end and the climax was overall too short. It didn’t make me feel like Naru really went through hell to beat this thing in the same way that Arnold and Danny Glover did in the first two films.
@@thijsde1110 Didn’t like that the end fight lasted like 5 mins. It made the Predator feel too easy to beat. Even her brother was giving the Predator a run for its money before it chickened out and stabbed him in the back after going invisible, which honestly seemed out of character for a Predator given that they’ve generally always honored prey that are brave enough to fight them one on one. This movie really needed a more formidable Predator, one with more than brawn and some cool tech.
This was such a good movie, I don’t want to see a sequel ruin it. It’s been told, leave it now. Ironically, if done right and to the same quality as Prey, I’d finally like to see an old man Dutch story now.
That was the only bit I didn’t like. It didn’t need the callback and wasn’t cringe at any point until then. It could have been the only predator movie that didn’t leech off the original.
And shouldn’t have said it. Cheesy af. Shouldn’t left that where it came from. There isn’t a need to drop Easter eggs in every damn movie. Even the gun from P2 was a lame Easter egg. It does nothing unless it serves purpose to the story at some point.
I'm sure the mask the predator has is part of an Alien Queen Skull. Prey was the name of the first book of the Alien Vs Predator novels, I have a feeling they will bring the Xenomorphs in at some point.
I honestly didn’t even know this was a predator film, I thought it was just a random movie about native culture but when I found out it was a pred movie that made me want to watch it even more, and I can say I was fairly surprised with how much I liked it, I hope it gets a sequel
It's a great top three and then also if these three were part of a sequel would be prey, predator and predators, from now on this is my official unofficial trilogy
Gotta give credit to Amber Midthunder for making a rich and believable character without a lot of dialogue. Cinematography was outstanding and the directing was tight and well paced. Excellent flick.
Sure I would believe a young girl with zero hunting experience and battle experience could outwit and defeat a species whose sole purpose in life is to kill the best predators on aliens worlds. Very believable 😂😂😂😂😂
I thought the cinematography, the music score, the story line in Prey was stellar. I loved the contrast hunting skills of the Comanche vs. the predator. In reality, the predator is a sport hunter. The Comanche, however, they don’t exterminate their resources, they hunt and use all of what they hunt to supply their village. Loved Naru’s character, who is never thought of being a threat, she gives an excellent performance of knowledge of medicine, tracking, survival, resilience and intelligence, she observes, learns about the predator, her surroundings, to take the predator down. The predator is basically an unworthy hunter, relying on invisibility rather than true skill and honor. I really loved tha passing right of Kata Mia, the dialogue in this scene was exquisite, to hunt but also it is about survival. It showed the Native American respected life of buffalos or nature paying homage to it while the predators and forntiersmen waste life. The brother was killed while the predator was in invisible form, back stabbed, showing the predator perceived him as a true threat, to me it shows this predator is an opportunistic, young blood, not so much like the predator we saw in 1987 when it confronted Arnold hand to hand at the end. I must say this was a super refreshing movie, I have watched it three times already, I would say your score of 9/10 is spot on. The movie I thought it was fresh, the movie flowed well, the cinematography was breathtaking, it had a historical aspect to it, reminded me a bit, just a bit, to The Last of the Mohicans in some scene sequences. Well done Prey.
Absolutely agreed! I also felt that the frontiersman's wastefulness in trophy hunting was well-lined up against the predator's motivations. I just watched it last night dubbed in Comanche and absolutely LOVED that this was an option. The brother-sister relationship was lovely. The representation didn't feel tokenized or forced, it felt like old-school science fiction, shifting our perspectives of story to learn something new.
Lol if you think this movie is a 9 out of 10 then you need to go back and watch the original Predator. Now that was a 9 out of 10. Prey was just too anti climatic for me. Predator shows up. Kills Indians most of which I couldn’t tell the difference from aside from the girl. Weak characters. The girl kills the predator.
So when the brother shot the hawk to show how much better he was that was respecting the hunt. The natives would have killed in greater numbers both animals and other tribes that they were at war with if they had developed their technology. The movies does a poor job portraying the natives. The conversations were from are day today. And even though the main character wasn’t completely overwhelmingly better just because she was a woman. They could’ve written her a bit better and same goes for the predator
If I can deduce this movie into one word, it would be WOW! I feel privileged to have been able to watch a movie like this for free in the comfort of my own living room. Im not ashamed to say this but this movie was almost, if not, just as good as the original predator movie. Amber Midthunder was phenomenal, and I hope to see more of her & the director, Dan Trachtenberg, really understood the characteristics of the yautja. I don’t care if you need to pirate this, this movie is a must watch.
1:06 no it’s not. It’s THAT predator’s first time on earth. In predator 2 you see a freaking Trex skull in the predators ship meaning they’ve been the to our planet for a long, long, long as time!
Predators was the best sequel... it had an awesome cast, every character was a warrior of sorts, there were multiple species and types of alien enemies, and the stakes was greater because they were on a foreign planet with only one way to return to Earth.
I really enjoyed this film as well. I was a bit worried that they showed too much in the trailer, but I was not disappointed. I think it was the Yautja, its tech and how it was different from the previous films that moved this movie from good to great. It gave that primal vs primal feel. Amber Midthunder and Dakota Beavers were on point. I appreciate the movie puttin some Respect on the Commanche name.
Where can I find this movie to watch? Looked on Amazon, not there. I read the books as a boy in the early 90s and have always been disappointed there have only been a couple movies in the genre that I'd highly recommend.
I really like how they made the Predator's weapons advanced for the time period, but way off from the technology from the original movie and it's sequels.
yep, its known that each predator undergoing his rite of passage gets to chose his weapons of choice, but its also likely that as this is 300 years ago, the predators are using older weapons that haven't reached the level we are used to seeing in the modern day films
@@AlphaGamer1981 Remember in AVP they were on earth before with the Mayans. And remember they had their shoulder plasma-caster and id say that was way before the prey timeline.
Her speech as she's getting ready to face the predator gave me goosebumps, one of the best movies I've watched in a long time hands down, it was so well done
My new favorite Predator movie by far, hoping for a sequel. It’s sadly really rare we get a prequel years after the original that’s actually really good
Ever since I saw “Predator 2” and sat in the theater in adoration with the lore; the pistol of Adolini’s from that Yautja clan to Harrigan, after the earlier Predator VHS viewing & all the Dark Horse comics- 30 years later, they finally gave me the prequel I have been waiting for as a longtime 80s fan: a gorgeous film on Comanche life that happens to be a violent as hell Predator prequel. Hopefully, this is just the start and we’ll get Feudal Japan, Norse Viking, etc, etc done authentically & respectfully and if they pulled this off, their “Alien” project could be what I’ve been hoping for but never received from Scott.
Yes all those scenarios would be great but I'd want them done well. This was complete garbage. How could they give here the gun when they had it later? Did they decide aye nevermind and went back and killed everyone just to take the pistol back? Or are we starting this massive strong woman trilogy where she goes and becomes the new queen of the predators? 🤣 Garbage
Best part the writers and director actually watched the films. The Predator from 2015 was a pile of crap. They wanted to change everything donwn to exoarmor & genes. It ain’t broke don’t fix it.
There is some scope for interpretation that it wasn't the species' first time on Earth, it was THIS predators first time on Earth.....it depends on which lore you follow.
I loved this as well, the cinematography was amazing, the characters were great and it felt like the original, hope they keep any sequels simple like this. They’ve spanned all kinds of genres with this, from Horror to outright Resident Evil lol. Aliens were always something bound to happen cause of the comic crossovers. This was great though. The fact I got to watch it at home was even better!
@@claytonbugeja1125 exactly they water down the lore of it . The original commenter brought up resident evil . Besides the first 2 movies , all the other movies were trash afterwards. Sometimes you don’t need to milk everything and every story for a dollar.
I watched the movie a couple days back, and totally agree. This is the first predator movie since the og that had my full attention. I had no snacks, and breaks. Watched it in one go. Even the feminism in the movie is spot on. Naru never wastes time trying to convince others. She states the fact, gets ignored, and then goes out on her own after the predator.
So you think this movie was tight? A character who genuinely had no skill tbh she wasn't a good hunter if we keeping it 💯 and should've literally died mad times but didn't bc of plot armor and then the end fight was wack he's an alien hunter he should be faster, stronger, and smarter but nah she just fucked him up you really buy that😂 at least Arnold from the jump was a badass he was the leader he was an actual soldier etc this "hunter" was just funny asf
@@203lue9 100% agreed. Naru defeating Predator all on her own was an asspull thing to do. They should have stuck to logic. Not that Naru cannot defeat a predator being a woman. But that, she bested a fucking predator in close combat. And that is stupid because she is not a good hunter and has no experience all movie. Her brother taabe had lot of experience hence he actually gave the predator an epic fight. These SJW directors don’t understand that you cannot make a forced feminist lead look strong by doing a stupid asspull plot armour power up. If Naru has to beat the Predator she has to do it in ways that seem realistic. Not asspull ways like overpowering him in brute strength lol
@@203lue9 No she had skill. She was the tribe's best tracker. He had better instincts than anyone in her tribe. She knew how to hunt. Her issue was the KILL. She didn't have it in her to actually do the kill. She would freeze in the moment. I hope I don't spoil this for you, but seeing her brother killed, gave her that push to be a killer. I went into this movie with a biased approach. I wanted badly to find fought with it and talk about PC. She was a bad azz who just didnt have killer instinct. Remember her brother was War Chief, I am sure she learned all her moves from him, or with him.
This movie was awesome!! The main protagonist was believable, the camera angles were excellent, the predator was badass, and the action didn’t disappoint. Prey was full of gory encounters and I loved it. I also really appreciate how it pays homage to the original predator movies. It understands what the predator is all about even more than The Predator (2018)
Watched this one yesterday, got in a nice relaxing day off after we went to see Rage Against The Machine last night. This was a very good movie that covers lots of ground. Nice review!! I thought for sure she’d use the mud like cmamaflague too but turned out the medicine/flower did that. Lots of stuff to explore in a follow up movie, I’d like to see multiple predators in the sequel and hopefully have one of them befriend Naru after understanding how incredible she is.
It’s a crazy world when a movie like this is less woke than the “full retard woke” that Rage Against the Machine has become. “Submit to the machine and get your vax or you can’t come to our concert” kinda thing 😉
I agree that Prey rivaled Predator, its such a good movie. I think the Predator "formula" works well when it's an underdog 1v1 narrative like this and the original, where the other movies fail because they use predators as just the gimmick to create action sequences.
I loved this kind of Predator species, he is like a Berserker Predator, brutal and deadly in close combat and the use of Combistick (finally) is amazing!! In fact i liked him more than any other Predator i've seen. We need more Lore, movies or Series!
@Manuel Maldonado No, this predator is part of another clan less advanced and more melee combat based, that's why is so handy with axes and has a shield. Given the unique beatdown that he took in this film is no surprise that he was indeed a rookie not yet blooded, but being honest that is a vague excuse of the director to make that empowered female character win in the dumbest way possible.
Nope, I thought so too, but he's just a part of greybacks clan (the predator from predator 2 who had the pistol which naru got), it's not hard to say each predator has a different face, super predators are much bigger, so this guy isn't one, or maybe he is, before the war better the 2 races begun, so this could be when they were one before the blood feud
@@jamaul1391 they are not predators that's the film franchise name they are yautjas and the director stated this is the first time we have seen this breed hunt
I enjoyed this prequel film. And the title fits perfectly-she was a prey just like the mouse, rabbit, fish…the PREDATOR saw her as the prey from her phone environment and took the biggest L at the end for underestimating her!
Next we should have transgender prey that the Predator underestimates because upon seeing a man in a dress the Predator laughs itself to literal death and fails its hunt.
The film was incredible. I really like the whole concept of the predators as an alien species. As in they’re actually honourable and don’t just kill for the sake of it
While an all out war would be cool, it would be a little overkill in my opinion. Mostly because of how easily this single predator “could” have taken them all out. It was beaten, sure. But only through a lot of preparation, a clever plan and a lot of luck. All in all, very happy with how strong/menacing the Predator turns out to be
Nah bro you gotta think the predators where only hunting Zenomorphs in the galaxy. They thought aliens were the most dangerous thing there was. Then they find our species & we don’t have a queen but we have the ability to hunt too. Just remember the engineers created the xeno’s to kill us cause we where the dangerous weapon. Plus I think predictors are conquerers of killing not land conquistadors

Awesome movie, i think it’s right up there with the 1st Predator movie.Amber Midthunder(Naru) is great actress . She kicked ass and i hope we get to see more of her in a sequel.
No. She isn’t. She “kicked ass” of very accommodating stuntmen. Her greatest strength is outwitting the Predator and the movie is a joke when it shows her fighting.
This movie honestly beats all the other Predator movies in the franchise - outside Predator 1 & 2. Having said that, my favorite entry is definitely Predator 2 - it was love at first sight - extraterrestrial spookfest action!
@@NoName-cn3cp Stop it! Some people back then liked part 2 better than part 1. This new joint can’t even compare to either. That blade cutting through all the meat scene and the Predator giving Danny the gun at the end was epic shit.
The things I liked about it, were: that the fights seemed "do-able". The cinematography was exceptional & the dialogue was sparse. This is how you re-energize a franchise.
Oh you mean, the skinny arm chic throwing her axe like its against the law of physic without any usage of physical strength. Then theres the badly CGI cat and bear scene. Loved this movie. It’s simple. Not super flashy. The camera isn’t on top of the action so you can see what’s happening. Fight scene choreography is great. This predator is different than we are used to as well. More cocky and a bit of a show off. I loved it. I want more
How the hell did she kill him at the end? She's just sitting there, he shoots an arrow thing that bounces around, and then suddenly he shoots himself in the face? Was he embarrassed that he was stuck in the mud and offed himself? She killed him via embarrassment for being beaten by a girl?
@@anonamatron The arrow like projectile is laser guided. It goes where the laser is no matter which way he shoots it and she noticed that in an earlier fight scene. Of course the alien was embarrassed and quite pissed off. Did you see its reaction to losing an arm? She caused the alien to cut its own arm off lol. She survived multiple encounters and learned its tendencies and tactics. Came up with a plan. She paid attention. Had nothing to do with her gender. The predator was cocky and brazen. Fighting out in the open without the cloaking tech on. It tore those other people to shreds and felt invincible. Until it fought her brother. He was whooping its ass. Then the cloaking tech got engaged again and gave the predator the upper hand. She learned how to beat that too. This is what I love about the movie. Not overly complex or littered with Hollywood nonsense. No strategic Pepsi can placements or pop artist soundtracks polluting my speakers. Watch it again and soak it all in.
it was poorly made, I didn't feel the sense that they took it seriously. its like they took a bunch of Teenager and let them go out to hunt, and get slaughtered by the Predator. But where are the adults indians? The director didn't do enough research about native before making a movie about them.
The worst Predator Movie ever !!! Prey is just garbage... They do not follow the Lore of the movie, people in our days with brain, tactical advantage, skills, power, muscle, mini guns that spills 1000 bullets per second and the list goes on, they could not kill the predator and this little ant did everything to a million year tehnologized advanced Predator with full of super guns ??? Also the movie is fk boring, the acting is worst, and also if you want to do something real at least do not mix comanche with english ... let the fk language comanche the entire movie like mell gibson did in his movies ... And i think most of the people smoked something because they like this crap of the movie ... Well the movie is 2 out of 10 ... so GArbage
Not sure why so many assume it was a primitive Predator because he didn't have a laser cannon or other tech. Anyone that has bowhunted (especially recurve) knows they could blast a deer at 250 yards with a 30.06, but the challenge of hunting with a more primitive weapon is what makes it exciting. Either that, or this was a young Predator on his first solo hunt and he does not get all the toys to start. I like this better because then he and the girl mirror each other in their quest.
Yeah, I think in the lore a Predator only gets his plasma cannon after successfully killing a Xenomorph in hand to hand combat. Very likely this could have been this Predator's first hunt.
The herbs that she ate made her invisible to the predator... That is why he couldn't see the injured soldier until he stepped on him... I think the herbs did something to the body to decrease its visibility on the predator's radar...
@@heavyspoilers... I think they felt they had to find a way of doing something similar to the mud... Without actually doing the mud... They did a great job on setting it up... And it fits the movie, the people, and the era that they are in... I thought when she was in the quicksand the predator would come but miss her like in the previous movie...
Yeah, tbh I kinda like that they have all these different options for next time to level the playing field a bit. I think we’ll see a lot of variety used to kill all the other predators that are coming
I really liked the movie, it was well written and how they incorporated clues from the Predator franchise. It was intense, on the edge of my seat! I like a movie that can draw the audience in.
The mud scene definitely got me. I thought they would use that. But then the scene where she gives the flower to the wounded guy and the Predator cant see him i was like, "Ahhhh thats what its going to be!"
This is officially now my joint 2nd favourite Predator movie with Predator 2 and after the original, love all of the ties to the original 2 movies, and the fact that this is the same gun that a Predator gives to Harrigan at the end of Predator 2 opens up another possible encounter
I absolutely loved it. Fight scenes were tight and the punches felt impactful. Story took us on a journey. Felt like it culminated at the right points and took us to a neatly satisfying ending. Another one please
I was totally Gawking at the weapons the predator had. The shield was a badass addition to their arsenal. And the fact they had laser guided darts instead of plasma was an awesome idea. They are advancing in technology quickly.
their dart guided is more frightening than plasma cannon. How the dart can go so fast and manuvering to the target. It supposed an older predator than a 300 years later predator.
@F250Godzilla beats me. Id think plasma cannons are more advanced. Also it was a totally different tribe than the ones from future movies. Maybe from another area of space
To me it felt like the equivalent of someone going bow hunting. They probably have the plasma technology but they chose to go at it primitively for the thrill. Especially if they probably knew humans weren’t too advanced at the time
I was pleasantly pleased with this film. It could have easily been botched. But they really did a damn good job with this overall and it is indeed the 2nd best in the series (and it isn't far behind the original).
I just really loved how much this filmed payed attribute to the environment and atmosphere. The sound design was great and the action felt felt real and raw. I’ve never rooted for a main character to win as much as I did during this movie. The suspense and stress really made the movie for me and it was a blast! This is the best and most enjoyable film I’ve seen this year.

Just finished it. What a fun movie. Quite great. Better than the 2018 film but also so is stubbing my toe on a rock at the beach and then not being able to enjoy swimming. Great breakdown.
I loved the fact they give you the option to to watch it in the Comanche language in Dolby Atmos so there is no loss in sound. That’s how we watched it and it totally added to the movie.
@@abdulm2609 gotta watch it on Hulu, apparently. I wasn’t even aware it was on D+. I never would have thought to look for something like Prey on Disney lol
That french dude who took the trap to the face deserved better. I thought he was going to get his spine ripped out and be honored because for that split second i though he was a badass..
I'm blown away that no review I've seen has drawn the parallels between the predator and the French Colonists. 10/10 movie, but everyone is missing how blunt the comparison is between these two threats.
This was one of the best movies in the Predator saga. I absolutely loved the character Naru. She was strong, determined, smart, devoted, disciplined, brave - everything a great hunter/warrior needed to be. Yet, she was not inexplicably skilled, (unlike Rey, in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens.") We see Naru constantly training hard, making mistakes and learning from them. Audiences love to see the hero overcome crazy odds to defeat an immensely superior opponent. The final fight scene between Naru and the Predator had me cheering loudly for that tough little lady. She made me proud to be a human being. LOL Good movie! 👍🏽👏🏽
The predator species has LONG favored humans as one of their two favorite prey. They call us 'soft meat', a high honor, considering the other species is the xenomorph, which they call 'hard meat.' Of the two, they consider us far more potentially dangerous, and much more interesting to hunt. They've been hunting us since the stone age, even using primitive humans to seed their hunts of the xenos, as xenos are strongest when they hatch from a human.
I love this movie so much!! I really went in pretty blind and hearing no reviews. I was hyped for it, but kept the hype in check, and by god this movie blew my expectations away. Im gonna watch it again after work.
Thoroughly enjoyed it. The relationship between Naru & the dog worked well, especially the sign language instructions she relayed to it. This predator was particularly nasty along with some brutal kills. Naru reminded me of Ellen Ripley/Sarah Connor, there wasn't any wokeness on display. Recommended 👍🏻
Movie Definitely deserves to be in the movies no doubt second movie I’ve seen this year that had me hooked on the screen first was “nope” and I’m not surprised by this movie as a Native American dan did my culture a favor by being realistic and I just loved this movie so so much
The movie was dope and the culture setting was fantastic. I was not hopefully especially it being a female warrior as predator is associated with alpha males but it was intelligence that won her the fight. Best movie of 2022 so far for me. Want another predator from this director set in another era but maybe have a prologue where you see her encounter the 3 ships landing and the weapin being handed over.
Honestly they could make a predator film in the early medieval period and feudal Japan and I would watch both of them. Especially if they’re as good as Prey was

I really don't want too many Predators or revealing too much back story and lore. I think The Predator 2018 went wrong with the Predator not being mysterious at all, so much Predator in well lit situations and loads of exposition making the species less mysterious. Where Prey and the first Predator went right was with how mysterious and spooky this line hunter was.

the movie shows us a early version of the predstor with no plasma caster and his face is almost like he couldn't see properly so it uses the proto biomask to see clearly like eye glasses and also would it be ironic to see the yaujta honor code was based on the natives rather than they use the honor code as their own it would be awesome to see naru insparie the yaujta to develope the honor code by the humans.

It's still a body temp trick in Predator 2 and Prey even tho it's not mud
in the first... it felt the spikes and realised it was being goaded in...
If I'm thinking right the predator in the first one only had heat vision. In the second it had a couple more selections meaning he's right they kept a log to see different ways to track people

Xenomorphs.......
Actually is Xenomorphs. That’s why they choose humans to use them as host, so the aliens are smart and also strong/fast, Ultimate worthy prey!!

One of the best predator movies since the original.
i dont like CGI predator
The CGI animals were worse. That bear was ridiculous and why was there a random wolf on its own? Wolves don’t roll alone, no such thing as a lone wolf.
That wolf wasn’t injured or old either. Seemed in pretty good shape to hunt as it did.
The rabbit was horrible too lol. Rabbit just ran straight and didn’t even switch directions 😂

I disagree. The movie should be completely original and not use nostalgia as a selling point.
This was a bad movie. Dude kills bears with his bare hands and a little 100lb girl with bow and arrow and some axe on a rope killed him? C'mon.
An axe can be called a 'chopper' no?
@@nomdeguerre8464 So Naru probably shouted the line in her mind when desperately reaching for the axe. :)
There's also the nice mirroring between the mountain lion and the predator. She spears the mountain lion which her brother admits is what allowed him to _bring it home,_ as she' lamed it. He spears the predator and and tells her to _bring it home._
She also figures out how to kill it by watching it fight her brother.
Just a nice piece of story craft.
Oh wow you’re right. I totally forgot about that. It was 10000000000% a nice piece of story craft.

I liked that the Predator used "less advanced" weaponry than the first two movies, being a prequel and all. Spears instead of lasers. Although the longer claws is more something that was used in the much later movies starting with AvP.
This was a feral predator not the city jungle or chief from the other films. Thats why they use different tech.
I really liked the fact it fought (almost) everyone on their own level.
Claws and fangs for the wildlife
Arrows for archers and spears for spear men
I don’t understand that if the predator is less advanced then how is water not affecting the camouflage
@@k24civic I didn't see Will Ferrsal in the movie tho. 😆
Probably tired
To be fair The feral predator used cloaking on all the hunts except the frontiersmen massacre, those guys sprung a good trap but their trapper mentality kicked in and they didn't rush it and finish it all at once or we'd have a swiss cheese space invader, the trappers had little to none in terms of combat skills.

Awesome take! 👌

@@windowsVD ye I the girl is considerable but I didn’t found it epic enough that she killed a yautja because of his mask
@@windowsVD yep I agree with everything u said
This was such a good movie, I don’t want to see a sequel ruin it.

1. Predator
2. Prey
3.Predators
It's a great top three and then also if these three were part of a sequel would be prey, predator and predators, from now on this is my official unofficial trilogy
Any list that doesn’t include predator 2 is cooked
Gotta give credit to Amber Midthunder for making a rich and believable character without a lot of dialogue. Cinematography was outstanding and the directing was tight and well paced. Excellent flick.
She really didn't.
pfffahahaha
Besides her making me believe that she's Indigenous American, she has a lot of Caucasian in her. Other than that she's a good actress I guess.
Sure I would believe a young girl with zero hunting experience and battle experience could outwit and defeat a species whose sole purpose in life is to kill the best predators on aliens worlds. Very believable 😂😂😂😂😂
@@garyd3725 Just like I would believe an invisible monster drops off from a spaceship for a long weekend. Ha
Definitely the best predator movie since the original! I hope Amber gets more roles in big budget movies she definitely deserves it!
Your must be of your head it’s simply the worst alongside the Predator.
Indeed Very good movie.... This movie is kinda repeat mode. We're the fight sean Predator Vs Comanches..
I think something else to show it was a young pred was that the mf didn’t seem to know how his own helmet worked.

In predator 2 you see a freaking Trex skull in the predators ship meaning they’ve been the to our planet for a long, long, long as time!
Actually it isn't a t rex skull but another alien species.but there is a triceratops skull in another pred movie
predator is 90% CGI in this movie and its sad

Would recommend Outlander from 2008 starring Jim Caviezel if you have not seen it as a temporary replacement for Viking period.
Yes all those scenarios would be great but I'd want them done well. This was complete garbage. How could they give here the gun when they had it later? I agree that Prey rivaled Predator, its such a good movie. I think the Predator "formula" works well when it's an underdog 1v1 narrative like this and the original, where the other movies fail because they use predators as just the gimmick to create action sequences.
With all the terrible sequels I never expected a historic throwback set in Colonial times its just a great reboot

These are the Predators from the movie Predators, they are the ones who are at war with the species from the first two movies.

Not sure why so many assume it was a primitive Predator because he didn't have a laser cannon or other tech. Anyone that has bowhunted (especially recurve) knows they could blast a deer at 250 yards with a 30.06, but the challenge of hunting with a more primitive weapon is what makes it exciting.
Either that, or this was a young Predator on his first solo hunt and he does not get all the toys to start. I like this better because then he and the girl mirror each other in their quest.

@F250Godzilla they were more primitive than the newer predators tech.
@F250Godzilla beats me. Id think plasma cannons are more advanced. Also it was a totally different tribe than the ones from future movies. Maybe from another area of space
I'm guessing their ships also fire darts instead of using energy weapons. Totaly doable.
To me it felt like the equivalent of someone going bow hunting. They probably have the plasma technology but they chose to go at it primitively for the thrill. Especially if they probably knew humans weren’t too advanced at the time

Hmm I never thought of that, but then again I think the xenomorphs might be at their strongest with either the predators DNA or the engineer aliens
ummm - not according to the lore - but keep the bs going
Yup. Alien is ther favorite I think
also, xenos are by far stronger when hatching from a predator - predalien - look it up, bs artist
@@realitycheck1086 hell yeah they look sick bro
I can’t believe how much I loved this movie. It’s a shame it wasn’t in cinemas. I think it would have done great.
Same here bro I would've definitely paid to go see this one!
@@samuelrobinson7893 you did pay for a Hulu subscription, so…
Nahhh I didn't like the fact that a 100 pound woman killed a 700 pound grown ass beast ? In a one on one fight ? Damn
@@cooper1056 Uh buddy she was not Abby from last of us lol, she is using tools to kill him
@@lazyvoid7107 fellow last of us fan?
This was an ultra rare film for me, in that when it ended, I desperately wanted more. Very few films achieve this level
Great review brother. Who would have thought this would be this good but, your review was right on the money. Thanks!
Recommended 👍🏻
lmao wokeness

OK BOOMER!!!!
