This set of shows were known as "working rehearsals" where they played brand new songs along with older stuff they hadn't played in a while. He used the laptop every night simply as a guide for lyrics. There's nothing wrong with him!
This is kind of disturbing. Michael keeps looking at a laptop. His band mates seem to look at him like they're worried about him. Is it just me. I love Michael as he's defined many parts of my life. I hope he's doing well!!
Was there... possibly the greatest venue for sound and ambiance of my top 3 ever concerts all 3 are in the Olympia, thought it was priceless when Mike slagged off some one in the crowd for not knowing what Impeach ment... and the fools that took out a confederate flag! Very foolish. Ah the memories
Late reply but yes he was pissed off wasn’t he? Rare to see Mike like that! Best 5 nights of my life. Bono & Edge were there the first night in one of the boxes up on left. Was lucky enough to go to 4/5 of the after show parties, I didn’t want that week to end!!

Also I remember some one brought in a bloody confederate flag I thought Mike was going to stage dive the crowd to get to them he was seriously pissed was def best week I went to 4/5 also I was offered €3,000 for my tickets but knew there we’re going to be special the money would have been gone by now but I have the memories and they’ll last forever What were your thoughts on the gigs pity this wasn’t done more 😞
Joe Lyons Wow, were you seated or standing? We were in the pit the first 2 nights, being that close to Michael as he was writing/crossing out as he went along was just amazing to witness, a work in progress! Looked up to the boxes on the left and saw Bono & Edge sitting there.The other 2 nights my fiancé had busted his knee so we had to swap tickets for seated , I hated being so far up, but knowing I could talk to the band after made up for it I’m in shock you were offered so much, but I wouldn’t have sold them either - as you say the memories will last forever, the money will come and go! I absolutely loved the banter between the crowd and the band too, you could tell they were having a blast- compared to a huge arena/stadium for me this wins every time! Bill Rieflin’s passing recently upset me, he was such a lovely, warm guy. We were at the bar, the barman asked him ‘are you a fan of the band?’ trying to make conversation, Bill sweetly replied ‘yes I’m a huge fan, love those guys’ After Bill left I told the guy who he was, he went 10 shades of red😂 I can honestly say 4 of the best nights of my life! To hear songs being sung for the first time was an honour!
@@pyt7778 ah man sorry, my Da passed only a month before Bill, had the chance of chatting to him a few times when he was with Ministry top bloke. I've a good one for you, my aunt was home from Australia she's in her 80's and lived in Dalkey she was out walking one afternoon when she came accross Bono with a chap, she made her way over to Paul and politely asked him could she have a pic for her daughter back in Australia who is a massive fan normally he likes his privacy but when she asked the lad Bono was with to take a pic Bono started to crack up she handed the camera to him and he took a pic Bono then asked did she want a pic of his friend also... he's in a band too... she said ok not knowing who he was so she then asked what's the name of his band Bono said REM and that's Michael she said oh I hope you do well, I met Bono when my Dad was ill and mentioned this to him Ali was with him in the elevator and like me they were going through a tough time with a close personal friend in hospital we all had a laugh it was a welcome relief from a very sad time... Memories over money every time Hope you are well take care
Write hundreds of songs and then play a collection of your earliest work almost 30 years into your career and then you can complain about Stipe using a laptop to remember his lyrics

I really love this song, but I don't like the fact he was looking at the laptop. It doesn'tt look good, he should have used a teleprompter.
