I’ll be honest, I’m not usually into the whole yandere trope. However, this one was extremely good. While he may be slightly obsessive, he has his legitimate and well founded reasons for it. Moreover, he clearly actually respects her position in their relationship. She isn’t just an object to him, but instead he views/values her as a person and partner. He realizes and respects the fact that she has her own thoughts, feelings, opinions and freedom. These are all factors that are extremely crucial for any kind of relationship to work out and part of why I normally get rather frustrated, or even annoyed about this trope. Most yandere characters have no actual respect for the object of their obsession. To these characters, that person is merely an item to be owned and controlled. They’re lazy of thought and narcissistic in nature. For example, most yandere characters end up give some speech about ‘only they can love that person and no one else could ever love them the way they can’. This is because they’re elevating themselves in level of importance and removing importance from the object of their obsession. It’s psychologically demeaning to the victim (object of obsession) and risks causing long-term damage to their self-confidence level and self-worth. However most yanderes don’t even stop to consider the deeper ramifications and damaging effects of these words or thought process on the person they supposedly ‘love’. They don’t mind how much they may damage/destroy those parts of their obsession, because at the end of the day by lowering their self-confidence/self-worth of that person will make them have a much harder time walking away from them and to them that’s all that matters to them. As I stated before, lazy of thought and narcissistic in nature. The only thing that matters to them, is what they want and no one else/nothing else is more important than that to most yanderes. That’s why I love the fact that the character in this audio, actually has that respect and has a true love for the object of his affection. For me, the difference in terminologies is based around the sole fact that he truly considers her both emotionally and physically. In the case of this character, I feel comfortable using the terminologies object of his affection, rather than object of his obsession. These few crucial details, determine the difference between love/affection and possessive, dehumanizing, obsession. Extremely well done, Green Leaf. Please forgive me if this was a bit hard to read.
