Big milestone for the band. Up until this song Kanami's songs were rejected by management. First Kanami / Band-maid somg written by them that was accepted by management, and to me it sound better and more sophiticated than what went before. Of course since then all Band-Maid (well accept for a couple of recent collabs). The bassist and in fact all the members stand out as Kanami writes music that lets them shine
Yes! Classic hard rock with catchy pop influence, a bit of pop punk, hint of metal.. and songs that are so packed you can't get bored and you're left wanting more
The astounding feature of the Band-Maid rabbit hole is how deep and broad it is and that the Maids are still creating more. And they really aren't repeating themselves. You can explore their seemingly endless catalog without repeating songs for weeks on end, discovering "My New Favorite Band-Maid Song" time and again. You'll forget songs and rediscover them over and over. I tracked Band-Maid's "10 ant" tour set lists and thought that they might be trying to perform every song they had recorded, but then I think they realized how impossible that task was and they reset their goals. These ladies have TOO MANY great songs for a fan to get tired of them.
A lot of people like Band-Maid at first listen, but it takes a bit of a dive into their catalog to “get” them. When you realize that the bassist is low key playing a solo under the song and the drummer uses six patterns and twenty fills and they’re all different, and the guitarist is quietly shredding over everything, and half of the vocals are harmonized, and they’re doing it in a way that sounds cohesive and not just a big noodly mess, and they’re doing this song after song after song after song, and they’re mixing in different genres and styles but it’s not changing the fact that they have their own sound… that’s when you understand what this band is.
This is probably one of the best descriptions of Band-Maid I’ve ever read. If anyone asks why I love Band-Maid so much, I’m going to tell them to read your definition.
From the early days of the band. The first song Kanami (Lead guitar, song writer) that was approved by management. In the albums after the one this is on, Kanami basically writes all of the music. Miku (rhythm guitarist) writes most of the lyrics. Notice the four string bass that MISA is playing, her original. Also notice the guitar that Miku is playing. It's a Rickenbacker, the same model that John Lennon used to play. She bought it for looks alone, not knowing the history. Nice reaction and subbed! Cheers! Edit to add: Another reactor who shall remain nameless: "It is sad to know that whatever you do, where ever you go, their is a small Japanese woman that can do it better."
Once they were left "Alone" by their record / management companies to create what they wanted, well... look what they did. Alone's somewhat sad, heavy yet empowering story (topics Miku's known for writing about), up against Kanami's up-tempo, complex yet rockin' music is quintessential Band-Maid. BAND-MAID is an important influence and contributor to the music industry with a continuous, growing worldwide fanbase. But to me, they are just the best sounding, best writers of hard rock music (along with The Warning ;-), and the most fun, joyous group of musicians to come along since the Beatles! Thx, Nathan!
Not just another band. For me this a once in a generation band. I pity the folks that listen to BandMaid and don’t keep coming back. I was almost one of them.
I love finding new Band Maid reactors. It reminds me of the first time that I found them. Just the amazement and the sheer joy. You are in for one hell of a ride with these amazing ladies! And if you ever get the chance to see them live, it is an absolute must! I was lucky to see them live and honestly, best show I have ever been too! There are so many songs that stand out from them. But on a personal level, Blooming, Manners, really show their range, and my personal favorite for me is Daydreaming. It's a rock ballad and when I heard it live, just brought me to tears. Kanami's solo just smacks you in the face with emotion.
That's the thing (or, ONE of the things) about The Maids. "Alone" COULD have been just a really good pop-punk song. It's driving. It's quick. It's catchy as hell. But NOPE. the ladies toss in a ton of extra nuggets to make it a GREAT pop-punk-rock amalgamation that we really have never heard before. They are the best, most complete band I've ever experienced. Thanks much, OMS! 🕊
Such a wonderful song. Let's not forget Saiki. I think she really shines on these pop-punk style songs. Other similar pop-punk songs are Dice, Different, Choose Me, Blooming and a few others.
There has never been a band like these ladies, they have never self written a clunker,as you say its a collective, and the band would not function if 1 member left, very unlikely as they love each other,ie Bestie,,check out the new release, out today,Protect you, great reaction.
IMHO as a non-musician (so a VERY humble opinion), there are 3 bass players that stand out above all others. They are James Jamerson, John Entwhistle and MISA so yes, MISA is the best bassist on the planet. 😉🤘✌
from JAPAN。 Thank you for your reaction. BAND-MAID is allowed to produce their own music from this song and take a new step forward. KNAMI composes the music, MIKU writes the verses, and each part is arranged by themselves. Add SAIKI's vocals and MIKU's harmonies and you have the BAND-MAID sound. If any one person is missing, it is not BAND-MAID. You have probably already noticed this,BAND-MAID is not only vocalists, but each of the instrumentalists can sing on their own instruments. I don't think there are that many bands that can do that.
one thing you'll come to realise is the second verse is always different from the first. Very often they'll start off fairly straight and then build and build.
One of the best reactions. on Alone definitely the top. I love that transition to Kanabe sole, always perfect. The chorus is my favourite. In the earliest version of the song in live concerts, Akane was stealing the show. I guess they told her to hold herself a bit down. You can find a video from Comicon 2016 where Akane goes wild.
The intro riff sounds similar to Scotty doesn't know by Lustra. This song is somewhere in my top 20 because of the guitar work and harmonizing, but slight negative on the english enunciation. Don't get me wrong, Domination is #1 for me even though it is a bit iffy on the english enunciation. Sometimes it is better with the subtitles off.
Band Maid confuses the sh!t out of me. The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd,Rolling Stones, you name it have some real stinkers. But I have yet to find a single one from Band Maid . And I'm really not sure how they do it. Obviously some sort of deal with the Devil. Prove me wrong and find one. Please. PS. Everyone knows Misa is one of the best bass players, but Akane(drummer) is one of the best of her generation as well.
Misa is the best bass player on the planet. Akane is the best drummer on the planet. Kanami is the best lead guitarist on the planet. Saiki is the best female rock vocalist on the planet. Miku is the best 810 year old pidgeon on the planet, po! (There wouldn't be a band without her). Yep - Band-Maid are the best band on the planet.
Can you imagine that's this is the first song that they wrote that was allowed to be recorded? Make sure really wonder what they threw in the bin!
Absolutely mad!!!! 🤣

Absolutely agree, when it finished I was like.... 😮
The band members are a marriage made in heaven. Their skill levels were far beyond what the label was giving them to play.
Roger never sleeps. 😁Best rock band on the planet.

Not a rabbit hole. It’s a pigeon hole.
If Kanami gets her dream of their own studio, they can just call it The Smile Factory.
🤣😁😁😁💯

Best description ever. This is why Maidiacs adore them, and why they are truly the best band on the planet.
