Prince and Chilli playing uno together at Glam Slam...I need the full story because wow!
Lol #TrueStory
I love interviews of those who were around Prince back in the day. To hear from their perspective of how he was and what he said and did, is priceless. Plus I get to hear about the interviewee’s life and history and how they got there. So interesting!
Truly a blessing
@@CocoDaBodyguard I loved your story. I wish you peace and a smile on your face each time you think of your many years with him. You did a great job. And I can feel Prince’s love for you, from back home.
Same😊💜💜💜
Absolutely right !! So interesting for a Fan of Prince, to hear that storys and learn more about my great Hero - Mr. PRINCE ‼️
So one afternoon in around 1994, maybe 1995, daytime, I'd say around 2, 3 PM, at my lunchtime, I worked at a big law firm in one of the high rises in DTLA over looking Glam Slam West and so I went over, and asked one of the employees tidying up outside if Prince was inside? And he said yes, I was on the side entrance by the parking entrance and he smiles and asks me you want to see? And I said YES. He opened the door, broad daylight and Prince was right there, with Coco, hanging out doing like a little dance with his arms and looked at me. Prince had on a lime green Gold Experience lace outfit, he looked spectacular. Coco, sharp and massive in a black suit, came over and closed the door, but wasn't mean or rude or anything just doing his job, and of course, it wasn't Coco's fault or anything like that. The times I would notice Mr. Coco, you knew he meant business. I have another couple of stories, of which I'm eternally grateful to Mr. Coco.
But he couldn't protect him from being poisoned by his aides and chef i guess??💊😈📀💿🎸😔
I wasn't there,but I truly wish I was...Thank you for your memories an very kind words...#RipPRN
So great. I appreciate folks like him protecting Prince. Had to be a hard job being basically on call more than a doctor and had to take a strong inner and outer mentality and body.
Well said Thank you💜
amazing interview. I wouldn't know how to pick a favorite Mr. Dean, a steady level of greatness. One thing I learned since Prince's death was how down to earth the guy was. Everyone knew he was controlling and could be not a nice person, but "down to earth" and "Prince" were never things that I thought I'd associate with the man.
Ur podcast never disappoints. Thanks, brother Mike!
I appreciate you sir thank you.
It was mean if Prince docked people’s pay, that’s unless it was small penalties for a joke.
Nightchild kindly gave me the book Prince by Mobeen Azhar Stories from the Purple Underground. It’s a great book about different musicians experiences working with Prince. It’s obvious he really really changed as a person in the late 1990’s onwards because the later years everyone says how supportive and kind he was. Prince would say “just do your thing, you know what’s best”. He was giving everyone the opportunity.
This why I ride for your podcast!
I truly appreciate your commitment to shining light on our Unsung heroes.
It took a village to get P from point A to B, and Coco is a significant part of that journey. This was wonderful
You already know! Thank you.
I truly appreciate that 😊
Enjoyed this interview…truly real and humbling man whose experience came to be to work with the Man himself Prince 🕊Loved to hear all of his experiences during that part of his life Wow!!! Great interview. Truly blessed man in Christ Jesus. May he always be blessed. Thank you. 💜🌹☮️

Great chat💜Big Coco is Ol School Cool😎 enjoyed hearing about his days as “One Punch” DJing, the pop-locking, Ice T, and the gangbangers, him meeting and working for Prince..great stuff

Thank u. Love Prince 4eva n Coco is a wonderful man to hear. I can see why Prince liked him.

Very insightful interview you have going on here with Big Coco! Expected all that I'm hearing about Prince's person, style, preferences and generosity. His former wife Mayte has features similar to Chante Moore...though personally I'd prefer Chante Moore, before her marriages, 100% for choice. Enjoyed this interview beginning to end. Also, Big Coco's testimony about God in his life was very inspirational to hear. Bless him for acknowledging our Higher Power! Thanks again Prince Podcast. MUST take time to purchase apparel merchandise.

Great 👍🏾 interview! I think the 1 person that could give the most insight on Prince's last days is Kirk Johnson, but I know he's never gonna talk. His name was found on a lot of those pill bottles 🤔 💜💜

Oh my god that’s what I’ve been saying for the longest time he was surrounded by all these people folks knew what was going on with prince and if you have a bodyguard why would you even leave him knowing that he’s going through what he’s going through because at the end of the day if he’s nonexistent on this earth neither is your ass you’re not protecting your job and you’re not protecting the client big Coco is dead on.
DIG IT

CoCo speaks about how much Prince loved The NPG, particularly because of how proficient they were. I never saw Prince allow anyone from the Revolution days except Sheila E do a solo piece. He however did that all the time with NPG
They were all Beast #NPGalumni
the revolution was for pop
NPG was his heart and soul
the revolution got way too much credit.
the bands from 87and beyond were on another level were on another level
@@redrockballaWhen he got to the point of fame which the revolution helped him achieve because of his clever marketing. I think he realized he needed to to grow, especially musically.
He needed to surround himself with new musicians that were seemingly more proficient than The Revolution,no discredit to them but this is what we saw & heard at shows & on albums
So...Coco started out naive (very young) not knowing what to expect in order to get a career out of this...be successful...Admire him for being loyal to all his clients even now...Not revealing too much...Touchingly the funny part...was Prince being too picky...at the same time...Sadly...somebody should have been bold enough to stay with Prince in his time of need...before his death...the signs were there...Prince didn't appear to have been that difficult to be around since he had done so much for a lot of people from the least to the most recognized...Coco said it right..."Protect the man to have a job"...Let's you know...there were a lot of vultures swarming around until they got what they wanted...All these folks speaking out about Prince in a good way better keep it going that way...because someone is consciously going to tell the truth before leaving this world...why he was alone...Coco gave very, very, good advice before considering a career as a bodyguard...What stands out...' seeing, and, hearing, faith, motherhood, and being ready...STRONG...Enjoyed the POD INTERVIEW...Prince was too good to be lost...Still broken of his passing...c/c
At the end of the day, it was up to Prince! Maybe he didn't want anybody around him and he wanted to be alone.
Yea, his life his choice! And yes someone will tell the truth one day! Lol🤷🏿I personally believe that he was super sick and had cancer. I predicted his death and told my drummer as much and he was super shocked when he died..
@@mrquick6775 Mr Quick, I cosign what you just said. I always thought he had (I hate saying the word) cancer too. Prince always gave me the impression if he was going through something an illness, he would never tell and he would deal with it in his own way. The telling thing to me was that line the song "U Know" and the whole ArtOfficial Age album. I never, on any of his songs ever heard say the word "cancer" until that song and I never knew why then did he start saying it.
“She blinks her eyes too much tell her to leave.”
LOL...that was funny!
Thanks podcast juice and Coco, who is behind prince in the picture you have up? It looks like mayte. I feel sorry for Nona, remembering when she followed prince out, not sure where they were, beside a tour bus, the night 45 singers sang "We are the world ". And just watched again last night "The beautiful experience" with Nona, prince got her to imply masterbateing. That happened! Knowing he needed her to present the upcoming award, he strung her along till 1.95. I believe he knew he was going to break her heart. Saying 6.7.94 "I'm going to keep Nona for myself " to keep men away from her. I always thought she was a good girl and probably would of stayed with prince no matter what he did. No shade to mayte, love her too. But he was a heart breaker. I absolutely love his songs, lyrics and vocals.
I felt sorry for Carmen and Nona tbh.
I guess no one knows Prince’s reasons for ditching Nona for Mayte but Mayte said herself she was determined to marry him.
The track Wasted Kisses from New Power Soul album tells a story of him being seduced and wasting his time with her.
Prince was maybe keeping up appearances or maybe he accidentally made her pregnant and married her. There’s an interview with Mayte on UA-cam where she says in quotes “UNFORTUNATELY I GOT PREGNANT” her words.
@@artfull334 hey art, seen that also it was posted on Instagram of her saying that. But we see what Mayte's determination got her, a short marriage., an annullement, Prince not speaking to her for 10 years prior to death, and her not performing on stage with him in 2 decades I'm sure the list goes on. Maybe he should of stayed with nona he may of been really Happy. One would never know why Prince did what he did 🤦♀️
@@lynnerussell4263 hey Lynne good to see u😄
Oh WoW someone posted her saying this, well she said it, she slipped up that time, said what she really thought!! Why did she say unfortunately ? She’s a scheming woman, she learned that early on from her own Mother, dreadful woman, no role model.
Prince had always been independent and achieved a lot but maybe this made him vulnerable to the vultures.
Nona said she’d always love Prince but she said she was doing a lot of drugs at the time.
It’s sad because they would have made a gorgeous couple.
@@artfull334 totally agree. That thing called KARMA came after the Garcia's and it came hard, they never seen any of it coming.
@@lynnerussell4263 Oh WoW I really didn’t know this, did not realise people has the Garcia’s scheming sussed and uploading the proof..about time!!! Her behaviour on Desperate Exe’s was appalling and so disrespectful.
I accidentally watched a video on UA-cam from her channel the other day, she was performing in Germany, she just didn’t have what it takes, was flicking her hair constantly, made her appear look conceited tbh. I noticed she has hardly any followers on her channel 🤔

@@mdean Hey man now that's what I call a good service thank u so much for the link sir u sure are one very talented brother that lick was da bomb can hear a Prince influence in there but in a very subtle unique way which gets overcome by your own rhythm which is tight consistent with a flow of a very catchy melody which would sound amazing if were pumping outta live band with the horns whistling and that Curtis Mayfield falsetto saying we gotta tighten up ..,also loved that Camille speedy voice like Prince used to do u laid that shit down so tight would love to hear more of your music brother would take some funky talent sadly very rare these days to play that live.....Peace2u brother thanks so much 4 your gift 👍

Was the Mavis Staples song the "Undertaker" or "Melody Cool"?
Terence Smith, both songs written by prince, given to Mavis. The undertaker put on her album and she sang it live in 94' with prince on heavy guitar, and Melody cool, Mavis sang in the 90' film. Prince also sang the undertaker in 93' that was a excellent performance.

Very informative interview. A tip from a professional interviewer for 40+ years: Tighten it up. A bit less verbal meandering and get right to the questions.
He said "Batman" or " Sir Jacket" ha! ha! Oldschool L.A. South Central, Compton, Watts, Lynwood attire!! No crocasacs, black n white topsiders???? Poplockin wear! Yeeeah!!! Alright CoCo! We still Poplockin!!! L.A. "Poppers picnic" in July! Uncle Jams Army was the place to be!!! Actually Egyptian Lover and Arabian Prince got they phrases n look from Prince. See this picture here? And these guys are both supposed to be black, right? My point is is time to just respect individualism, and stop with the silly categories already. And I mean 'Prince' by this too. Also is clear to me the brother was clearly lightening his skin
Not feeling based ,body guard work ,is out of body experience ,peace
it's really a shame that coco is very difficult to understand acoustically. what's more, he only ever hints, rarely becomes concrete, it seems more important to him to come across as cool
What do you expect ? it’s because he is LA Ol School Cool. He ain’t going to be doing no bitching about Prince because he treated him well
It's more important to me to be accurate and truthful... God bless you for listening 🎧
@@CocoDaBodyguard Absolutely💜💜😄👍
Although I don’t agree that Prince was too choosy about the ladies. I honestly reckon he should have chosen wiser. He could have had his pick and chosen those who were less high maintenance, beautiful, kind, understanding and intelligent.
He definitely grew wiser with age and his “type” changed.
Maybe he wants people to read his book where he provides more concrete information.
