Yes, I’m a dude and I just LOVE this song! I swear if they gave it air time on the radio, it would be the hit that it deserves to be! They guys are SUPER on this!
I've heard somewhere that this was the result of Austin reflecting on his part of the breakup with Olena -- realizing he'd taken the relationship for granted and hadn't been putting in the work. A bit different than the common post-breakup "she done me wrong" songs. I suspect that the high bell tone part before the "drums" came in might have been Adam. He definitely does more background vocals than people realize.
Yes, Rupp does a lot of that high stuff that Austin gets credit for The guys say Rupp has natutally higher tenor voice. He won't take leads though...at least very infrequently. He says he's not a trained singer like the other men.
When asked, he once said his singing voice was "lower than Austin's, higher than Rob's," so definitely a tenor if you don't include his throat bass and other techniques. You can hear a lot of his vocal range in the looper portion of his more recent "drum solos" where he's by definition singing lead... and all the harmony parts too! (Including this for newer fries.)
Thanks J & J for your reaction. This song is not reacted to very often. This is an original song from the "Dive Bar Saints" album. It is one of Home Free's more serious songs with a powerful message.
This is one of their songs that regularly pops into my head and I have to listen to it again. So lovely and layered. Jeremy, you really need to do an interview with Darren, it'd be great.
Home Free just released their first Christmas song / video Hark ! The Herald Angels Sing from their new Christmas album Any Kind Of Christmas that’s going to be released soon
Austin is such a talented songwriter…one of his many fantastic contributions to Home Free’s catalog! I love this song and video. Enjoyed your reaction. Thank you anonymous friend.
I loved this song! This is one that I had not heard. The arrangement is quite good and they performed very well as usual! Austin and Tim are both really good writers! Great reaction guys! I understand totally and hope you continue to let us know things when they come to you song by song! Low bass Kenneth
Hello J & J and Happy Home Fryday! This song is so beautiful. I wish it got reacted to more, but I'm so grateful to you both for all you do. Thanks to anonymous for his or her excellent taste in music! ❤
Great Reaction as usual. Also, I just caught a performance last night with the new lineup and I can assure you that you will love a full show with this lineup every bit as much as ever. We may also see the guys stretch themselves in new ways because of the changed dynamics, but the Home Free energy and atmosphere are as strong as ever. BTW, during the meet and greet before, Rob was mentioning that early on, they weren't quite sure what to make of reactors, but as time has passed, they are realizing the benefit in terms of new fans, so your initial interview may well have been during that adjustment process.
I feel that this song is so much more melancholy than others. And I love the message! I loved everything you had to say today, starting out with the, “I’m sorry, I think I punched you.” 😉 Happy Home FrYday!! Catch you tomorrow. 🎶 Cyd
I love this song Lonely Girl's Home Free did a beautiful job on this song. The harmonies is beautiful and the harmonies is beautiful to. The beatboxing with Adam is great he is my favorite beatboxer ❤❤❤❤❤❤
As some others have said I hadn’t heard this one before but what a great song. And yes, the production of this song seems to be a little more complex with all of the layered background harmonies, but also the 2 & 3 part harmonies that the guys are actually singing. And Rob killed the high parts above Austin’s high lead on the chorus. The active bass and percussion are unmatched!! Thanks for the great reaction, as always!
Beautiful song with a great message. And teacher Jeremy did share interesting vocal observations and then his technical side did also! Never stop being yourselves; that’s why I’m on the ride! ❤️🤗
I feel where you guys are coming from. I'm supposed to be in Redding, CA right now getting ready for their concert tonight but I ran into a severe money glitch last night and just didn't have enough for my motel room. That's twice in a row my tickets for their Redding show went unused. So much for being closer to Sacramento than Denver or Omaha (where I had some great times around their wonderful shows).
@@musikbyjh Yeah, and the reason here is shitty. Not joking. This may leave me a few dollars before the end of the month for toilet paper. Oh well, I've been to their Crazy(er) Life tour three or four time already anyway. Hopefully next tour/next year. will let me welcome Bastien in person. I have two comedy club gigs her in Sac to look forward to in December. Yay.
Austin wrote several songs about or as a commentary on the breakup in 2018 of his long relationship with his ex, Olena, and they are all exceptional. The songs seem to have acted as a way to channel his thoughts in this painful period, and this one reflects the fact that one reason that Olena left may have been that she had ambitions and talents that he didn't listen to or encourage enough. It also expresses the loneliness of being in a relationship and not getting full understanding. You may have noticed how Austin now always puts Amberly's needs and interests first , as a partner rather than taking over or dismissing. His other songs from this period are Love Me Like That and If I Met You Now, both haunting and emotional. The live version of Love me Like That is fantastic, truly with committed support from the band, though you can see that Austin is finding it painful. The other is one of my favourites, in an arrangement by Steven Martinez, and with a lovely video (on Austin's channel). Olena deserves a mention as the band's stylist, with a great designer's eye for clothes, while also acting as the band's photographer/videographer. Much of what we see in the band's MVs is her creation. She also acted as hairdresser, and for 5 years Austin never did his own hair!. She also appeared in quite a lot of videos.
This is such a terrific song with a powerful message. I believe it's an Austin original (I know I'll be corrected if I'm wrong). He wrote & sings "If I Met You Now" on his channel - it's just heartbreaking. Thanks for your insights.
Austin talked about writing this song in a livestream on the HF Fb page in Oct 2019. He started it in 15 o r16, but wasn't satisfied with it, then in 18 he got together with Steven and Ava and they massaged it a bit and ended up with this song that pretty much says, "Don't settle for a crappy relationship, you are worth a lot more; believe in yourself"
I had forgotten what a beautiful song that is !!! The emotion in Austins voice always gives me instant chills !! I miss his contribution to the group, the blend of the voices in the group has naturally changed. Still good, just diffeent, cant put my finger on the difference, not knowledgeable enough.
My two cents. This song is too emotional, relatable, empowering, & everything Jeremy said to be picked apart technically. Some songs you want to joyfully pick apart the technical aspects because they're done so well and other songs you just want to wallow in the experience. This particular song is one of my top 4 Austin-written songs. I love the message of the song, of the video, and of the placards.
Hey Hannah!! I know, the first day with only ONE Home Free song, and at the "regular" time of all our other vids, 12p PT. It will be a little bit of an adjustment, but we'll all be ok, promise!! ❤🥷🏻
@@musikbyjh that's 9pm in the Netherlands, there's usually a show on tv I'm watching with my friends at that time. So I can't watch your vid the moment it comes on. Not that you need to change that for just little old me, but it't a bummer. I was really looking forward to every Home Friday at 5 and 7pm😒 and now it's only one and I have to watch it either on commercial breaks or after the show. But hey, you do you, I'll just have to adjust I guess🤷🏻♀️
Hmmmm, this is good to know Hannah. We have been considering changing back to an 8 or 9am PST posting time based on our analytics. I’ll very much remember this comment when deciding here soon, promise! Sorry to interrupt your normal viewing routine!
