    Great vid homie. Finally started having this issue with my G2r. Theyre under warranty but I cant wait that long and run a DIY channel as well. First time dabbing into SRAM. You really helped me out. Hope youre still making videos. Your really informal and patient.

    Great addition on the lever blade. That bloody spring takes loads of faffing about if your not paying attention taking it apart. I think that took me the longest. Kudos.

    Thanks so much for the video! Very helpful! I assume you sent the extra right Scram Guide brake that you have to a commenter long ago, but if not, that's exactly what I'll be needing for my bike.

    Love the video, very clear and precise. I’m having a problem with one of the levers I rebuilt. It wants to come all the way back to the handlebar grip, whereas the other to doesn’t. I’ve repeated the process three times and the lever continues to come all the way back. What am I missing? Thanks for your help.

      Hey, thank you for watching the video. I need some clarification, is there oil in the system? Like did you bleed it three times or fix the lever three times? If there is no oil in the system, then that will cause that; or if there is oil, then there is too much air in the system. Again, let me know if I’m missing anything. I’ll do my best to help.
      Best,
      Nate

      @@watchnato Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. The lever/system has not been bled yet, nor does it have any fluid in the system. I have rebuilt the lever three times.

      Hey,
      If I’m understanding correctly, then the problem is there is no oil in the system. Once you bleed the brakes the lever will retract after you let go.

    My lever’s a little sluggish coming back, was wondering if I could just pour some dot fluid down the piston channel from the outside (where the lever push rod is) instead of pulling the whole thing apart. Great video man!!

    • @watchnato
      @watchnato  Рік тому +1

      Hey @MaquinasDePalomitas,
      When was the last time you bleed your brakes? If you haven’t bleed them in a while, I would try that first. And if they are still sluggish, then your piston might be grabbing or need to be cleaned and greased, so you would have to take it out. Let me know what you think.

      Nate

      @@watchnato Hey man, let me just say how grateful I am, the video is super helpful and taking the time to answer just blew my mind. I’ve never bled the brakes, I’ve had the bike since new, 5 years ago. The bleed kit just arrived so I’ll probably do the bleeding first thing in the morning. Thanks again man!!

    I cant comprehend reasons to replace one plastic piston, which expanded in case of heat, for another the same piston, which will create the same headache to you after some tearm. May you have bought updated version by SRAM, can you tell me about it? thx a lot

      Its those 2 proprietary seals that you need to replace

    I have the same lever and I’m having problems bleeding i can’t push fluid though the system it’s completely solid as if a valve isn’t open, I’ve taken the lever apart and mine seems to have a red piece at the end of the spring unlike yours. The problem I have is definitely to do with the lever as I disconnected the hose and tried syringing the fluid through and again it was solid and nothing come out of the open cable end

    • @watchnato
      @watchnato  2 роки тому

      Hey Alfiedonk1,
      Describe the little red piece? Is it part of the valve assembly? Also, did you check the cable? There is a little red hose barb at the end of the cable.

      Some people take the hose off, undo the bleed port and reservoir, then blow compressed air into the hose port on the lever body.
      I had one set that I had to remove the piston as per this video, then clean and polish the barrel the piston slides in. There was rubber melted and stuck to the walls

    I have a problem during hot weather with my GUIDE T brakes. Could U tell me pls are there the same plastick piston or another? I want to order replacement alu details.
    THX

    • @watchnato
      @watchnato  Рік тому +1

      Hey Odissey013,
      The Guide T brake is pretty much the same as the Guide R; the change or Mai. Difference between the two went into the lever reach adjustment. I’m not aware of ordering an aluminum replacement piston for them, but the SRAM guides have been known to have issues when they heat up. Best solution or my opinion would be to get different brakes, or pull out the piston, clean it, and apply some SRAM lubricant on it.
      Please let me know if you have any other questions or if I was of any help.
      Best,
      Nate

    the piston should move freely inside? Because mine is stuck, I must push it out from the cable side.
    Edit: What did you use on the rubber seal?... some kind of vaseline?

    • @janeblogs324
      @janeblogs324 Рік тому

      They all stick, the seals are cheap and swell then disintegrate in the body
