Formed in Florida, alternative rock band Matchbox Twenty consists of Rob Thomas, Brian Yale, Paul Doucette, and Kyle Cook. The group signed with Atlantic Records in 1995, creating four studio albums including 12x platinum ’Yourself or Someone Like You’ and 4x platinum ’Mad Season’. The band’s debut album spawned the hit singles "Push," "3AM,” "Real World," "Long Day,” and "Back 2 Good” and continued to spit out hits such as "Bent," "Unwell," "If You're Gone," "Bright Lights" and "Disease."
In addition to more than 30 million records sold worldwide, Matchbox Twenty headlined six different tours and has earned many honors, including five Grammy nominations, four American Music Award nods, the 2004 People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Musical Group”, and they were named “Best New Band” in the 1997 Rolling Stone Readers Poll.

My go to song .. my ex and I have been divorced for 11 years, she remarried with one of her coworkers leaving me and my children to fend for ourselves. I loved her deeply and this song is the go to song when im feeling lonely. Rob Thomas is genuinely underrated when it comes to his music. But im sure he has a base of genuine loving caring people who can resonate personally to his songs and albums. I m glad to be one of his biggest fans.

I heard this song for the first time in college in 2002. I love it so much that I placed it on my answering machine in my dorm. My crush called me when I wasn't there and part of this song came on and she mentioned that she loved it in her message. This is truly a great song, how can you leave someone you claim you love when no physical or emotional abuse tool place? You simply fell in love with someone else. That hurts man.

I bought this album (cassette) when I was in senior high, here in small town in Indonesia called Palembang, back those day this album stuck in my head and we feel awesome to performed in senior high school band eve though we thought that day only few knew, fuck it! We still does until college. Can’t believe it’s already 20 years ago, we still have in our playlist in Spotify. I consider ”leave” one of the best mb20 songs. Also, a bit of a rarity to hear live. My first concert ever was at the mad season tour in San Jose and they didn’t play this one and I was a little sad by that. I’ve only heard it in a mp3, bootlegged live concert of a show in Detroit. And it was pretty different from the album version and it sounded amazing. I’ve been to several live shows since and they never play “leave.” Will they on the next tour to celebrate 20 year anniversary of the album? I will continue to be waiting for it....

I think this song is about Hollywood and illuminate. Look at pic. Its a dued with harns in a dress holding what could be a goat as a puppet. Basically saying "how you going to just put me out after all I did and just act like iam nothing.
This is definitely talking about about the illuminate pushing him out. They get every star in a dress and they run people like a puppet. Look at pic and listen to words.
