** Video Description **
In this UA-cam video tutorial, Surfing Scratcher shows you the basics of the Microsoft makecode editor with micro:bit. We’ll launch a search engine to find the makecode editor and inspect its features. We explore the micro:bit simulator and how to switch between the block and javascript editor. We code a small program using the LEDs and then transfer it to the micro:bit using a USB connection. We talk about how to save out projects both in the browser’s local storage and offline on disk.
** What is Surfing Scratcher? **

Whether you are a Scratch beginner, or you're an educator wondering how to use Scratch in your classroom or looking for lessons & resources for your classroom, Surfing Scratcher is here to help you on your journey.

Using what you show here for now. I just got this from a friend the other day and had no idea what it did. Seems kind of interesting.
Awesome Terry! They are pretty cool little devices. :)
I will be using TinkerCAD Circuits to code a virtual Microbit with my students. Thanks for the learning. I'm new to all of this :)

Awesome, stoked to hear you found value. I love your username. I've been out foraging fungi and I've come across the ghost fungus (omphalotus nidiformis) and an inky cap called coprinus clomatis. You're username is a combination of the two in my mind :D
Nice :)
Is there a "stamp"-like function with sprites on Makecode? I want to slowly fill the display with dots, adding one each time I shake the microbit. Could you point me in the right direction on this? Thanks!
Hi John, been a while since I've been in Makecode, but you could create an image and assign it to a variable. Alternatively, you can use list values to light up individual LEDs. A value of 0 means the LED for that position is off. A value of 1 means that the LED is on.
can you help me i do not have i micro bit can i make a micro bit in micro bit.com?
How can I deploy this code (written with the help of Microsoft Makecode) on heroku??

Are you still active on UA-cam?
I'm still responding to comments! No videos planned at this stage, but that might change in the new year :)
@@SurfingScratcher Can you make new videos? I really love your content.
Yes, I'd love to get back to a place where I can begin releasing content again. It won't happen this year, but there is a strong chance I'll pick it back up again in the new year. What ideas or content would you love to see me make?
@@SurfingScratcher Some Micro:bit content.
hi, im 14yrs old.. Why do we need micro bit.. Can u tell me.. i hope that you are the best teacher for me...................
Hi! You don't actually need a micro:bit if you want to learn to code. However, they can be useful to help you interact with the real-world through 'sensing' it. It's a device that give you a taste of coding with a taste of electronics and engineering. It's well-priced for what it does compared to other devices within its category, too. Enjoy the journey!
@@SurfingScratcher thank u.. but i need to learn from the beginning with out a micro bit device. ill follow your videos and learn.
