The anti static bags are actually CONDUCTIVE on the outside, you have an extremely high chance of shorting something out if you do an outside test to see if your computer posts before you put it in your case.
Geoxor Once motherboard is removed from anti-static foam, bags or anything else can become static...especially bags...always wear an anti static wrist cable and gloves. Better to be safe; especially on larger or sensative systems...
Jimmy B. The anti-static bags actually are anti-static on the outside. Check our Carey Holzman's channel. He did an entire video testing this theory out. ua-cam.com/video/G0hCj8PUCi8/v-deo.html

Fx Effects Well no it is just about the same size as a CPU... not really mini... And most graphics cards have 2 or more fans unless they are water cooled or pretty low end...
I remember being SO jealous of these guys back in the day. This was my dream to build something like this as a kid. Now having it, it's so nostalgic seeing how I was so excited and jealous watching.
DO NOT EVER WORK ON YOUR MOTHERBOARD ON TOP OF THE ANTI STATIC BAG! ONLY THE INSIDE OF THE BAG IS ANTI STATIC, THE OUTSIDE OF THE BAG IS CONDUCTIVE. AN IDEAL PLACE TO WORK ON YOUR MOTHERBOARD IS ON THE BOX IT CAME IN. THUMBS UP SO PEOPLE CAN SEE.
I come back to watch this video every year just to remind myself to stay humble and appreciate how far the guys have come over the years. I've since gone from a 680 to a GTX 1070 and a HTC Vive 😃
There's a reason components are inside the static bag. They are anti-static on the inside only. Good luck putting components on top of them. Use your mobo box. It fits the mobo inside it, it will fit on top of it as well.
No, read the bag next time you build a computer. It says to set the board on the anti static bag. So yes they are anti static on the inside for protection, but also the outside.
Zach Herr no thats a myth, Carey Holzman, probably the most experienced PC builder on youtube did a mythbusting episode and proved it to be wrong, although it does not provide any antistatic protection there is nothing wrong with building on the bag
Dyllidan ret Just watched it, as much as I see his point, there are bags with clear conductive patterns all over them. Try doing it on them, post me the results, again, watch the ASAP linked above
Which is why I said, "Just place the motherboard on something that won't cause static to build up." I didn't say it's fine, I just asked if it really matters. They didn't have problems in their rigs, so why be so anti-antistatic bag?
***** Do you really know the effects of static on a circuit? It doesn't necessarily destroy your computer, but the effects can reduce the life of the motherboard. Thats why we prefer to hold the motherboard by the cpu fan, so we don't mess up the components.
MunchMoar Does that have anything to do with placing a motherboard on something that doesn't cause electric build up? Let's just end it on the fact that they used the antistatic bag instead of something else and it may or may not reduce the computer life.
Tom Msn Freddie moved onto VGHS and more professional/commercial projects. Brandon wanted to stay with Node/Corridor Digital and keep doing what they have been doing youtube wise.

HAHA thx for correcting me. Im not the smartest of them all. Just I always remember someone telling me not to put components on top of the static bag. LOL thx
No. NEVER place your motherboard on the anti static bag. What the bag does is spread out any potential static on the OUTSIDE of the bag, not the inside.
You can place motherboard on antistatic bag but you MUST NEVER turn it ON! There is no danger as long as you dont run power into your Mobo while is on antistatic bag.
I remember watching this back when it released and then dreaming of building my own PC. 8 years later and I'm about to build my second full PC as a Ryzen 9 system with a 2070 Super GPU. Funny how things work out.
+Riley Andersen Well you know what I mean. It was 2012 at the time this video released. VR wasnt exactly popular at all then. I don't know if VR headsets were manufactured but I am definitely sure hover junkers wasnt out. along with htc vive and all the other headsets we see today.
+Dylan Rodgers Pretty valid point but since games are getting more power hungry these days, you'll probably need about 16Gb of RAM if you want to play the latest games.

I don't know why people have multiple screens. You're ever only going to focus on one who you're gaming. You're not a secret government hacker. You're a lazy gamer who just wants to fucking play a game.
yeah but its too much power, usually if you use more than enough, say you need 550 watts but you get 1000 watts that could generate to much power to the cpu, mother board, graphics card, hard drive, ssd. and other parts that could potentially over heat your pc and the same if you get less power that could be the same issue
Yes building a computer is quite simple. I have actually built my own computer a few times and upgraded several times. It's funny that you would assume that i don't know what I am taking about since you don't know me. The question is have you ever built one to compare this to? BTW I know what I'm doing so I don't need to read directions.
***** I actually got a computer this Christmas that I built in about thirty to forty minutes so no I am not full of myself. And yes you are right nobody cares so stop assuming people are dumb fucks and listen to the logic that there isn't much to assemble.
Emil Hoppestad You do realize that they are directors and writers and spend a lot of time editing videos in the highest quality the can while also working on many projects that require detailed cgi? All of that along side gaming is done on those computers
I swear u didn't listen to anything in the whole video except for "minecraft" and as soon as u heard that u thought "I must type a comment about them just using this for minecraft even though I wasn't listening to anything else they were saying"
Turtleman1234321 I'm not a big fan cases that stand out. Like ones with windows, lights, and such. Thermaltake makes a case that i personally think looks ridiculous but everyone else loves it.

This is the video that hyped me up for my pc when I was younger
This is such a cool comment.
That video really made me want to get this case which i did after 5 - 6 years xD
You can get a degree for big boy legos?

yeah, but if there is any resudial static charge in the outer layer of the bag, then the motherboard is instantly fried.

how much money do you save by building your own pc, as opposed to having it pre-built by a company?
usually, around 10/15%, depends on where you will buy the parts and where you would buy your computer pre-built
pretty sure it's usually around 50% saved your gonna want to know how to make a PC though so go check out some vids online to help you.

I ment that is my pc. But yes, i can play minecraft at 200 fps while loading new. Chunks. However since this build i have added more ram to it. Yet to have problems and that is an awsome water cooling system if your looking for one. Sorry for spelling im dyslexic
It's not powerful enough. It will crash if you try and play Doom on it.
Wanna trade? pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/
***** You're kidding right?
7hrs of computer building. Total paradise for me.
i find it insulting how you only have 1 screen per computer
I find it insulting how you think you need to have multiple screens to have a good computer.
I don't know why people have multiple screens. You're ever only going to focus on one who you're gaming.
You're not a secret government hacker.
You're a lazy gamer who just wants to fucking play a game.
1000watts?!?! are you guys sure thats not ovekill for power supply
yeah but its too much power, usually if you use more than enough, say you need 550 watts but you get 1000 watts that could generate to much power to the cpu, mother board, graphics card, hard drive, ssd. and other parts that could potentially over heat your pc and the same if you get less power that could be the same issue
TURTLEZ FAZE That isn't how it works.
TURTLEZ FAZE You get the best efficiency out of your power supply at half the max.
TURTLEZ FAZE The computer only draws as much power as it needs. The power supply doesn't force feed your components.
7 hours to build a computer??? How would it possibly take more than 30 minutes?
Funny coming from someone whos probably never built one before ever. A good job isnt rushed.
There's no possible way to build a computer under an hour let alone 30 minutes.
And yes you are right nobody cares so stop assuming people are dumb fucks and listen to the logic that there isn't much to assemble.
at 5:54 Freddie saying "and Minecraft." that cracks me up.
What they did with these pcs... The played minecraft...
Minecraft=video game
Gaming PC use: to play video games. I really dont see the problem here
Emil Hoppestad You do realize that they are directors and writers and spend a lot of time editing videos in the highest quality the can while also working on many projects that require detailed cgi? All of that along side gaming is done on those computers
you do hear that they said they are gonna use it for workshop right ?
I swear u didn't listen to anything in the whole video except for "minecraft" and as soon as u heard that u thought "I must type a comment about them just using this for minecraft even though I wasn't listening to anything else they were saying"
that cable management is awful.
you should see mine the first day i built mine. Ugh, it was awful
Thats why i have a window on the side of my case so i can feel great about my cable management
Turtleman1234321 I'm not a big fan cases that stand out. Like ones with windows, lights, and such. Thermaltake makes a case that i personally think looks ridiculous but everyone else loves it.
Actually, its the ones they are using. I hate it
lol 680 back in 2012 >.
7 years ago, it’s awesome how far you all have come
That pc case doesn't exist...
yes it does, its a thermaltake case
Again, thermaltake level ten white version.
Techno Toby c48c48s48 Wasn't that what I just said? :/
They put something else in the description xD
www.thermaltake.com/Chassis/Full_Tower_/Level_10/C_00001788/Level_10_GT_Snow_Edition/design.htm this is your answer
Why the ugly cases?
Personal preference (and good airflow, presumably).
They traded for a slightly cooler asian.
Idk man rocket jump is pretty sick
+cessationem have you seen Ds more badass moments?
