- June Anderson, as Elena, sings "Tanti affetti in tal momento . . . Fra il padre e fra l'amante" from the finale of Rossini's "La donna del lago", at La Scala, in 1992. Conductor, Riccardo Muti. Director, Werner Herzog. It was the first production of the opera in 150 years at La Scala, staged to mark the bicentenary of Rossini's birth.
L'ultima "grande". Dopo di lei il deserto.
You are so right about that.
so true
Alberto Del Buono e la Di Donato?
Nope, Di Donato is very fine but not at this level.

I was there, 2nd raw in Loggione, seated on the seat back to see the stage, with recording device in hand, like so many people. We were so excited about the cast. After the performance, HUGE crowd to see the artists
I'm so jealous! Saw her a lot in the US but only once in Europe
One of the great coloraturas of the 20th century
I am a fan of this operia. Wonderful singing. Rossini was great
Every now and then, I come back to this stellar performance! The voice, the timbre, the resonance, the scales, the register coordination, the precision, the ornaments, the musicality… Just perfect!!!! A truly exceptional singer ❣️
Thanks 🙏🏻 for sharing!
she sings those coloraturas the way it should be done, just like Callas & Sutherland. she's fenomenal!
The GREAT Anderson! A pure Bel Cantist and the benchmark for what it takes to sing this repertoire!!
Phenomenal. Beautiful singing.
I love June Anderson, who's voice is pristine soprano, colaratura, bell canto. 😍💎🤩
I like this Bel Canto opus by Rossini. La Donna del Lago.
I didn't expect her low notes to be this good! Fab!!
Yes, wasn't she?
La mia versione preferita di questo brano! La coloratura della Anderson è piacevolissima! 🌈 Questa è la migliore interpretazione di questo pezzo, a mio parere! 💐
It really is.
Savoir RÉELLEMENT interpréter une cadence : combien savent encore le faire ? MAGNIFIQUE artiste👏👏👏
Mitica June!
i love this so much
Yes, the best in the word.
I love the way she really can sing so ACCURATELY! Almost as great as Joan Sutherland.
I have a lot of respect for June Anderson.....She really has a great style and musicality.

I didn’t know Sutherland did this role on stage or that she was famous for her Rossini roles...
(She didn’t and wasn’t)
@@draganvidic2039 brilliant .. lool
Truly wonderful
Beautyful. Thank you for uploading this!
She;s the fucking queen!
Only the Princess ,Caballe is the Queen .the aria with Zubin Mehta is utterly amazing 👏
so perfert, so wonderfil so irreplaceable a fabulous voice..........
Очень люблю Джун.!!!! У неё такой тягучий голос' как мед. Очень красивое вибрато!
love it
I much prefer Anderson's way of singing the coloratura passages where you can hear every note clearly, but each note is connected to the adjacent ones; what you end up hearing is the melody, not a bunch of notes shot at you. This is very much in the same style as Callas and Sutherland's way of singing. Along with Horne, came the machine-gun way of hammering out notes and shooting them out, which unfortunately has become the norm now.
Horne started it, but it got further popularized by the ever so dreadful Bartoli.
Callas , Sutherland, Anderson had a proper Bel Canto technique and it absolutely shows. They cared deeply about clarity which is essential
I totally agree. Some would say oh it's just because they don't have the speed, which is B.S. She's being extremely musical here. The shotgun coloratura nonsense is rampant in countertenors and mezzos now in Europe because of Bartoli, DiDonato and Fagioli and the like. It's awful. A 5 or 6 minute aria is now over in just over 3 minutes. Nothing contrasting, just one jumble of a race of notes that hardly even get heard in the house anyway. You hear them on recordings but in person it's just oh here's what sounds like fast vibrato but it's a run.
@@smurf902 There is a video on youtube that shows Callas singing an aria from Turco in Italia and pairs it with Bartoli. With Callas you hear the melody floating and dancing on the breath. Bartoli is just like a tasteless machine gun shooting notes.
❤
Shahrdad you're so right, always think that about Anderson though she sings in a very distinctive fashion, she knows what is bel canto. And the passage notes and middle notes are the ones hard to sing, if you're singing Bel canto you should know how to do scales like you described
June Anderson sarebbe stata LUCIA E TUTTI DESDEMONA ZORAIDE ETC ETC SOPRANI PERFETTA CON UNICO JUAN DIEGO FLORZ.(MA I SARA UNA VOCE COME SUA!!DIO NON RIPETE MAI) MARTA BEATRICE DARDAY
Anderson is awesome! This is from the Scala DVD. If only Horne had been available rather that Dupuy it would have been a dream cast!
Carol Morgan
Dupuy is far better than Horne
metropolitan1966 Horne is very nasal...a shitty technique.
The last great coloratura in my opinion. Superb apart from a slightly weak trill.
IMMENSA. Nich, potevi registrare meglio.
I do love June Anderson. She really does Bel canto very well. Her high notes are spectacular. BUT in this recording is a huge disappointment to me. Ruth Anne Swenson blasts the High E flat at the end of this aria. The audience goes wild. With the power June Anderson had she should've hit that high E flat. Thats what colouraturas do. Hit extra high notes to show off and thrill the audience. Oh well its such a disappointment. I will stick with Ruth Anne Swenson for this opera. Remember; my opinion...Breathe.
Incorrect (notwithstanding that it has been sung by some great mezzos like Von Stade). The part was written for soprano, not mezzo, and was originally performed at its premiere by Isabella Colbran, who by all accounts was a soprano, not a mezzo.
Não chega aos pés de Marilyn Horn.
