@@stewartjones5624 wtf are you talking about?! No one is talking about blues music 70-80 years ago. All I was saying 90’s music is and will still be the best generation of music in my opinion.

RZA's one of the most underrated lyrcists of all time not just in general but in the Wu as well... he's such a good producer that people don't rate him as an emcee even though he kills everything he's on. It's like everybody knows but won't say it, but RZA to me is in my top 10 lyricists along with GZA. Also RZA always has that cadence and delivery and he has a great voice.
This Track Bangs So Hard. When Wu Tang play this Song in Concert they get the whole building to literally jump up and down. I just saw Wu Tang and Nas and Busta Rhymes on Tour a couple of weeks ago.
The production and flow are nasty. Ghost and GZA have the sharpest swords in the clan and absolutely kill this track. Can't imagine how this song sounds live.
Shogun assassin is the shitty cut version of like 6 2hr films cut and put into a hour in a half film its called lone wolf and cub and the sample is from the first out of the six called lone wolf and cub swords of vengeance
@@laurencematthews6907 yep. I’m tryna remember if they played it as a mini series type deal back in the day. Like 3-2 Hr runs. I didn’t see it in a theater.
The whole album got cuts (like this intro) from the same movie: "Shogun assassin". The movie that mom and daughter are seeying in the last part of "Kill Bill 2".
Damn no way! I was reminiscing and searched for this track and your vid popped up. Always good to see young heads going back to peep the classics. Salute from Australia.
Glad you’re tuning in young g. A lot of the Wu’s lyrics are interlaced with the teachings and sayings and the Nation of gods and earths ( 5 percenters) so some lines have a different meaning than what’s being spoken to listeners; such as “it ain’t hard to see my seeds need god degree” Seeds= his children and god degree= food so basically he’s saying he gotta feeds his lil ones the next line could make it a double entendre to say his clan want that beef with whoever but not in unnecessary ways. But you’re doing a great job with the break down. Check out the song Labels on this album where he went at the major record labels at that time.
It’s a movie where the man comes home and finds his wife k***** but the son was left alive somehow. The man must now embark on a mission of revenge but the boy will slow him down. He makes him choose between the ball and the sword so he can either train him or k*** him he’ll let fate decide
Killah Priest verse was dissing Rza Ghost and Gza. Because they was fuckin around wit him all night so he dissed them on the track. It was all fun nothing serious
The Shogun Assassin movies are the shit!!!! I’m surprised this new generation doesn’t know more about those classics with how popular anime and Japanese culture is these days. Highly recommend. The movie clips set the perfect tone for this classic album.
Haven't heard you do Reggae yet. Check out "Sister Nancy - BAM BAM" She's a reggae legend. Took her 32 years to receive royalties on this smash hit, but is respected in Reggae like Roxanne Shante is in Hip Hop. She is featured on a Jay-Z song (called Bam) on his 4:44 album alongside Damian Marley. 💯
Ghost’s style is not as random as some people want to make it…it’s a blend of hardcore storytelling mixed with some abstract lyricism (for pure abstract lyricists…check Doom, Kool Keith, Greg Nice).
Great breakdown PRSPR! They all killed this. Dope song from a classic album. Check out Cormega featuring Prodigy-Thun And Kicko Or Method Man-Grid Iron Rap featuring Streelife Redman-Rock Da Spot
RZA's verse is very clever using biblical verses and historical context. Many will say this is subliminally anti-semitic, but it's an actual call-out on those calling themselves the "chosen." Great verse.
The banks a G all cream down's a bet. He's talking about a dice game, it's a thousand in the pot and if you put money of the floor you've placed a bet (i.e. you BET not even think about picking the money back up on some "I changed my mind" stuff)
@@PRSPR I'm sure you've leveled up since then but just know that Ghost can do it all. Gangster shit, fly shit, comedy, abstract imagery. He's also one of the best storyteller's to ever hold a mic. If you want some straightforward stories go listed to "Impossible" (deep) or "Shakey Dog" (hilarious). I rate Ghost in my top tier of any emcee ever.
Kids really don’t know how hard 90’s hip hop was and what Wu did for the culture
do you know how hard early robert johnson was and what he did for the culture?
give the kids a break

When he says “ninjas scaling the building” scalding = climbing
Oh shit, one of the best Albums Wu have ever made.
Rza’s verse is fuckin crazy yo
He snapped 🔥🔥🔥
The Stanley (Stan Lee) cup bar is a double entree since he said Ironman at the beginning
I knew I wasn’t the only one who caught that, I barely see anyone pointing it out.

"Scale" also means to climb. "Ninjas scaling your building" means they're climbing the walls to come get you.
