Seele is a Ninja for real, I wasn't sure about her, but her animations with her scythe sold me.

A tie between Luocha, Welt and Jing Yuan, the protagonist of the animated short, on the gentlemen side and Himeko, Bronya and Sushang on the ladies side.
In the lore of the game, jing yuan and jingliu belong to a species called xianzhou
Xianzhou people basically is immortal , but their immortality is not perfect
When they live long enough , at least is around 1000 year , their immortality will make them go insane, they will become a monster “ the armor being in the flash back “ ( in the animated, ying liu able to keep human form because she too strong )
To deal with this problem, xianzhou people decide they will kill themself when they can feel their moment is coming ( they have a gorverment system for that)
But they can’t predict when the moment come, so for people who can’t going to the system in time, the cloud knight will be who kill them when they go insane
That is what happen in the animated
@@vietcuongnguyenle8530 It's not about if they live long enough, it depends on each individual according to what they experience throughout the ages and their mental strength. Like if one was to experience many hardships, loss of many people they care about, loss of purpose or meaning, or sense of time, their will corrodes to the point they become mara-struck. So yeah, some become mara struck after hundreds of years others are thousands of years old and still holding.
That's if there is no external direct influence like the stelleron or the direct power of abundance.

Mara truck come when that balance broken, the power of aeon make their mind go to insane state
When the balance broken is different to each other people but for most people it will happen when they live around 1000 year , some people will get sooner and some people will get later
That pause after the new pupil asks "That's the road you took, right?" just hits me in the soul.
it is my best moment as well , he knows the general he was forced in a way to take that road , not a choice , he never wished to be a hero or a legend and sure not like that , killing his master , that pause and then his kinda small smile said it all , no need words to describe what he was feeling at that time , but how could he told that his young apprentice , that being a legend is more a nightmare than a great thing ...

The fact that Jing Yuan is passing on his master's teachings, word for word, to young Yan qing, it hit deep. Mihoyo really loves these master-student relationships. This one is definitely Final Lesson level. I already have Yan qing (3rd gen), gonna need Jing yuan (2nd gen).
Made me wonder if it's out of respect, or out of guilt, or maybe both. He's preparing Yanqing as early as possible, so when the time has come for him to get mara-stricken, Yanqing won't hold back as much as him with Jingliu.
A master-disciple relationship in old Chinese culture is practically akin to family in both structure and significance. For all intents and purposes he practically had to mercy-kill his own mother figure.

Although it rarely happen, but the relationship between master -disciple can turn into other relationship so the master not always is father-mother figure . It also could be friend, sister, brother or lover

Fun fact, Yanqing shares a name - and appearance - with one of Fu Hua's students from HI3rd. Jing Yuan is a walking death flag.
Seeing the shock on his face when she thrusts her sword at him into that transition was really powerful for me. You can really see in that moment the realization of what must be done. Really excellent storytelling.
The interesting parallel is that the whole time until the end, Jing Yuan was holding back against her (not summoning the lightning lord to help him with the final blow). So the whole time he was holding back with his master. Then at the end when he suggests a spar with Yanqing, Yanqing says he won't hold back in their spar 😭
When Jing Yuan sees his reflection on the blade, he might also be realising that one day he too may become mara-struck and need to be put down (unless he is killed before that happens). Losing your mind to Mara is worse than being killed in battle.
6:55 I'm so sad, I feel like I'm the only one who noticed the smile on the master's face as she is fading away like she is thanking him for making the right choice
I also love the interpretation of his recital of his earlier oath as a sort of final desperate appeal to her humanity. His initial denial, his deep-rooted desire for her to be wrong about her death being necessary, and the potential meaning that brings to his later acceptance, and building to that final repayment of his master's gift. With his final repayment being the act of bringing meaning to his master's teachings.
So when they bring up the "long life species" thing, it is indeed connected to the lore of where they, Jing Yuan, Jingliu, and Yanqing (the new student at the end), are from. They put out another video before this one called "Myriad Celestia Trailer: History of The Xianzhou: Seven Arbiter-Generals" which goes into a bit of the lore of the Xianzhou Alliance's origins and generals in the style of a story book/folktale.
always loved your reactions and on this one maybe even more than others , it was not so long 4 min 30 and though so deep and emotional train wreck as well , it was so hard when he said I repay you with this strike , such a strong and painful moment
1st question: yes, it's his ultimate in game, and it's also freaking awesome.
2nd question: yes, the young man is playable too.

really loved aswell when you pointed out that the masters eyes were "blurred out" it kinda felt as if (in the next shot) that he saw her "humanity had left" and helped him gather the resolve to finish kinda what she started.
ngl every time I use his ulti, he uses this exact same scene and it keeps bringing me back to this emotional moment when he decided to cut down his master - to prove his resolution a final time to his master

and his apprentice yanqing is also playable
I will always be an advocate for good symbolism and the two trees representing Jing Yuan and Yan Qing respectively is something I really adore!
I love the whole Wuxia feel in this Animation so fucking much, also this Animation triggers alot of PTSD's from HI3 especially when you realise that Yanqing and Kiana basically said the same thing to their Teachers serious Red Flags but my god is it beautiful.
Not to mention the "I expect you to kill me should I become infected" is a copy paste of the HoV/Himeko scenario. This isn't just tearing up Honkai vets' old wounds, this is ripping them up with a chainsaw soaked in acid.
The man Jing Yuan is an electro 5 star character who will come in the up coming banner phase 2 of ver 1.0
His student Yan Qing is an incredible single target dps 5 star character with ice element

I still love turn based rpgs and knowing this is releasing on PS5 eventually, plus Hoyoverse's crisp, clean character designs. Female MC is awesome, I love how she's tall when in Genshin the girl feels shorter.
Also, it has a mix of fantasy and sci-fi which I love in Star Ocean.
I don't understand why people are obsessed with female mc like she looks so lifeless. If they loved both mcs I would understand but why only the female one? What does she have that the male one doesn't?

@@dy_nto7 it's because the male mc is basically just your standard main character, female mc on the other hand is a new experience. Female mc is also pretty likable because similar to Undertale's mc Frisk, having them do completely unhinged stuff while being completely stone-faced is just the sort of comedy a lot of people can't get over.
@@heresywithana I can't imagine the female MC rummaging through trash cans people jeep calling her elegant but based on the dialogs and actions MC is goofy not elegant. MC personality fits to the male one much more. His ult animations and voicelines are also more powerful. I saw everyone praising female MC nonstop and the only reason I can think of because she is a girl that's it. Male MC has so much praise worthy stuff too but they ignore him because he is a boy. Anime community has always been girl crazy.
@@dy_nto7 what makes the female mc so interesting is that she doesn't fit the "goofy" characteristic at all, so her doing goofy stuff while being completely emotionless just has a sort of weird humor behind it, I don't expect everyone to get that humor, but I like to explain it so people who don't understand can kinda grasp what the others are thinking.

From a story telling parallel, this is an interesting alternate take on a thing that happened in Honkai 3rd. Same scenario where a master tells their student that should someone become corrupted, they have to kill them, no matter who it is. In Star Rail, the master becomes corrupted and the student has to kill them. In Honkai 3rd, the student becomes corrupted and the master (Himeko) sacrifices their life, disobeying their own orders, to save their student and give them a second chance at their life.

What drew me in to star rail?? Well, the fact that it is the 4th installment of the honkai series which is and amazing series that I love obviously, I also like turn based gameplay when it's done well, star rail's combat is well done so, all positives, good gameplay and it's a series that I love and one that is also know for it's amazing stories, soooo heck yeah

@@sealytheseal8417 no, it's 4. Flyme2themoon, houkai gakuen 2, honkai impact 3rd and honkai:star rail, genshin is technically part of the series, but it's not a mainline honkai game
Every long life species in Xian Zhou has to face that disease. Some weaker civilians are confined in a room so that they won't harm others, while the powerful ones such as Jing Liu are harder to contain. We don't know the lore with Jing Liu yet, but Blade was able to contain it with Kafka's help. So, I think Yan Qing will have to face same experience as Jing Yuan someday. He has to kill Jing Yuan too when the time comes.
What got me into star rail? Yanqing looked like a xiao and aether love child
What got me hooked? Jing yuan hot

Its the Lightning weilding thunder clapping spirit squashing lord! And yes, it is a summon. In gameplay it is in his burst and follow up attack.
Something I learned from a video analyzing a RWBY fight trailer and its use of action lines: when Jing Yuang and his student (Yu..Yunqing?) talk in the end, the tree branches form a perfect line between them and of course later when they poise their weapons. Beautiful composition. Everything about the execution of this short was sublime.
I highly recommend the video. It's by "Fight scene film school," or just look up "RWBY action lines."

One cool detail is that Jing Yuan was struggling to complete that flashback training scene while Yanqing is eager for more trining and seems full of energy... I think it is supposed to symbolize the weakness of a long lives species that are on the Xianzhou. Stagnation...

Why I play Star Rail: I want to get Otto/ Luocha. He was such a great character. I really like playing HI3, where he originates from. In Star Rail are way more grown up male characters I'd like to play as. The playable characters in HI3 are all female and in Genshin most of the characters are sooo young ,_,
But as always I love the outfits Mihoyo creats!

I was always kind of seeing Star rail on my feed here and there, interested in the blend of sci-fi and fantasy (something about an actual train evokes a certain feeling in us dreamers), but it's really when I saw Jing Yuang that I thought I need to give this a try. I have a major weakness for glaives and guandaoes, especially in games more so than in films.
That said, Seele was what cemented me wanting to play. I can't play a game if I'm not playing a cool character and she is it. She is it.

I really can't wait for hoyo to start a full anime series for both honkai and genshin it will actually go so hard
I think your sound setup is a little different than usual? The ducking has a very short attack/release. It's aggressive enough that it feels like my ears pop sometimes or I thought there was something wrong with my headphones.
Anyways. Great analysis as usual. I wasn't even sold on the SciFi universe and wasn't super interested in Star Rail, but as a Genshin player I wanted to be around for the release so I could at least sort of follow the zeitgeist. I didn't expect a lot, but Star Rail has really blown me away. The production value, the music, the story, the characters. The whole experience has given me the impression that Hoyoverse has a golden goose hidden away in a vault somewhere.
I also didn't know that Star Rail was going to be a Space Comedy and they're not ashamed to let the comedy stand out every once in a while and still not detract from the main story; which again is really great so far.
I'm hooked and I'm in it for the long ride to enjoy Genshin Impact and Star Rail. I'm not excited about putting so much of my time into one game studio but it's not my fault or Hoyoverse's fault that other game studios are forgetting what it means for a video game or stories to have a hook and make you actually want to get more involved.
I got into it for my himekopium
Jing Liu standing on the top of the arch looking down on Jing Yuan gives a heavy "It's over Jing Yuan I have the high ground" vibe, except it didnt turn out well for her.
I have a suggestion for you,
I think it's better to finish the video first, and then start commenting. So you can catch the flow of the story.
I'm pretty sure the technique of creating these shorts has not changed from Impact... It's just they get better at actually using CG to then make awesome 2D scenes.
Impact 3rd always had the hand drawn scenes covering CG storyboards and the evolution in less than 10 years of their technique is stunning.

I wish you'd just react to the video in its entirety before commenting, you give lots of insight and its really interesting, but the constant pausing is kind of unpleasant.
Some lore as I understand it from the game, Star rail has lowkey gods, they aren't really gods because they are humans who ascended, but each one follows a path, and through the conviction in their path they become stronger, the gods of each path are called Aeons.
The people from Xianzhou Luofu revered The Abundance Yaoshi, she gave her people eternal life, but it ended up making them crazy (Mara-struck), so they now revere The Hunt Lan, live in a giant space ship and travel around hunting all the creations of Abundance
Aeon is not human or used to be human
They are universe being from the moment they born
Only few of them have humanoid form and humanoid form not mean they used to be human
@@vietcuongnguyenle8530 Nope, aeons are ascended beings. The entity that ascends doesn't have to be a human tho (Nous, for example, used to be a super computer). But they could very well be one
@@vietcuongnguyenle8530 Is that true? I thought otherwise because I read paths are created and destroyed, and also the fact that there're man-made Aeons, gave me the impression that paths are a thing that kinda just happen when the right person appears, but maybe not
that tiny smile on her Face at the end, telling of Pride and relive is what makes me teary eyed. As much as i give the English VA's props here i still enjoy the Japaneese more....especialy with the overall Asian theme of the Xianzhou Luofu
The English did a great job conveying emotion, I prefer the English.
@@antiheroo26 to each their own i guess. Many prefere the CN versions of Honkai Animations but i find them lacking in the Emotional department to such a degree that i lose my emersion even.
If you know Chinese. The language literary style is just superior level compare to any other languages especially the way Xianzhou people talks they talk in ancient Chinese literary style and this is so much better. So it’s just your personal bias and lack of cultural understanding, not necessarily Japanese is good. Because by any technical way, Chinese for XianZhou is superior just like you would have to listen to Shakespeare in English no other language could do it remotely justice, not even close.

@@WalterWhite-jz7ct Well the emotions conveyed in Chinese is not subpar at all to its JP counterpart imo in many games and animation including this one. My guess is that Chinese as a tonal language may distract you and make it difficult for you to fully experience the emotions. This Simone person was being rude af in his reply, I’m sorry you have to see it, but I guess he and many others including me are extremely frustrated and angry at people constantly praising JP voiceover only, completely ignoring or throwing shade on CN voiceover, with some saying it’s a ugly sounding language or whatever. Also by ‘Chinese is superior’ which sounds very wrong he probably meant the ancient Chinese way of speaking and writing used in the original voiceover bears so much cultural and historical weight, the impact of which cannot be fully captured by translations, so the original is better. I’m not saying this to defend him, Sorry for writing a whole essay in the comments, I’m just trying to explain where he’s coming from in a non-offensive way. Hope you have a nice day.

The thing is if you don't understand Japanesse why bother watching in Japanesse. To me Chinese and Japenesse sounds absolutely the same with no difference. That is because I do not understand their language and I am not a native that could differentiate both countries. In my opinion though, if you mean Ying Yuan's VA, then I like Alejandro. This is due to him voicing a character in Genshin

@@vietcuongnguyenle8530 In my personal opinion, if there is any tone of VA I dislike it is Kafka's VA. The tone of the voice sounds horny as fuck to me. Other than that I am fine with every VA, Jingliu sounds fine and my man Alejandro never misses.
@@medojed8266 maybe cause u no need to fully understand, u can listen to the tone, expressions, and ofc mihoyo always have subs in ur languaje so mayge go outside u litle box, u can learn a lot from others country and cultures.
