The video quality for this video is insane for someone with so few subscribers! I really can't wait to see you take off! Thanks for being my new theremin teacher!

Hi, Thanks for your very useful videos! I'm planning on buying a Theremin (most likely a Theremini thanks to your advice) but I feel that, as a left-handed person, I'll be more natural playing the pitch with my left hand and volume on the right hand. Are you aware of the existence of such a model?

    Hey, Caroline Scruggs,
Thank you for this nice video, your enthusiasm is amazing, keep it up. I'm facing an issue with my current old Standard Etherwave (which I own for 3 years now), and I might have to look at a replacement. Something in the mainboard seems dead or dying. I've also looked at the Theremini. I've heard it's hard / impossible to play quick notes on it. Is that true? Would you be able to tell me more? Please note I haven't looked at all your videos yet, I just now discovered them. If you detail something along this in another video, a pointer to the right one would be appreciated.
The fact you find the Claravox not so fun to play was a surprise, by the way. (I don't know it from experience. Shows how personal a good theremin is.)
Thank you again, and keep the videos as fun as they are now.

Hey Paul! Glad you stumbled across my videos, I hope they prove helpful to you. The theremini is my most recent addition to my theremins, and I truly was surprised at how much I love playing it. I haven't experienced what you mentioned of not being able to play quickly on it... it keeps up wonderfully, as long as my fingers are doing their job :) Really can't recommend it enough. You'll find links to that as well as my favorite gear throughout my videos. Hope this helps!

@@CarolineScruggs Thank you very much for your reply, I really appreciate it. At the moment, a friend is trying to find out what's wrong with the Etherwave (but it doesn't sound hopeful [grimace]). I'll certainly have a look and listen at the Theremini if this is curtain call for the good old Moog. Have a brilliant day!

I have a medium sized poodle dog that when petted or squeezed lovingly produces similar sounds to a Theremin. Perhaps this is a better low cost option than the moog versions u are recommending here, at least for a beginner. Love ur vids and brand btw. Big fan.

Tbf long-term costs of a pet (food, vet, etc) are way highter of any musical instrument

lostvolts in the uk makes a much more affordable analog theremin. I haven't tried it yet but im hoping to get one soonish to compare to what ive got currently.

I first got a Moog Theremini (which doesn't function correctly anymore), then an Etherwave Plus, and 2 years ago got a Subscope Voicematic (made in Germany to order) which since has become my "daily driver". A highly interesting developement is the D-Lev (kit), a digital theremin, but a really good one. The LostVolts (UK, Europe) and Burns (USA) theremins would be good as a first theremin on a lower budget, maybe less suited for gigging but good for learning and playing at home, maybe a little flimsy and less sturdy, but having quite a nice sound and as far as I've seen demonstrated playable as musical instrument, and not just usable for sound effects.

5:26 that delay sounds incredible, separate thought I don't particularly like Moog, I only had a Moog werkstatt and the sound was too harsh, it lacks character just sort of found it unusable, I like Moog for bass idk🤔just how I feel

Check out the LV 4 from Lost Volts... A hair less refined than the Moog, but a fully grown up instrument you could start with.
