this has been on my watch list for a while, i dont get motivated to watch anime with out any like spoilers that motivate me to see that certain scene.. thanks to this i have watched about 1/5 of my watch list and 4% of it to go
I genuinely love this movie. While I get the "they really said screw Japan and let it flood huh" thing. They make note in the movie that even if she was sacrificed it was still going to happen. She would just prolong it a bit longer. But as the granny said, nature will take over eventually. And even with that. There's not a single person that can deny the AMAZING animation and visuals of this movie
Was it only raining their. If not then the world got screwed. Imagine as less land was available to live on and places to grow. People already live on coastal cities, and the land mostly mountain and rock. He doom others simply for girl. He had no problem using her for cash. What happened to little brother. 😕
The rain literally only was in Tokyo, specifically the areas that are man made. That a couple hundred years ago was underwater anyways. And saying he used her for money is a bit much, both of them were desperate for money.
They were already doomed. He just saved her from sacrifice and everyone has right to choose what they want to do. Stop expecting selfless act from an anime when you are selfish in real life
How does everyone seem to think this is about actual weather and rain? To me this seems like its about loving someone despite their mental illness. The rain being representative of mental illness.
I think it could represent both physical or mental illness. But when it comes to the weather I took the overall message to be along the lines of adapting to change. I'm having a hard time wording what I'm meaning. But with the lines near the end about how tokyo would have flooded eventually I took it as "nature is going to take back everything eventually, and we should learn to live with it rather than fight it" I was trying to word it so it sounded less "GLOBAL WARMING" And more like a personal enlightenment if that makes sense?
I think "Keisuke" is actually pronounced "Kay•skey"...like how the end part of Sasuke's (from the anime _Naruto)_ name sounds. (No disrespect intended!) I'm a big fan of this channel and have been watching your videos a lot lately. *Thank you* for uploading and posting these. ❤️
Even if they did, water isn't the only thing required for plant life. The rainclouds obscure the sun too heavily for any proper species of plants to grow, and in a worldwide phenomenon this would probably cause an extreme overheating of the planet, orders of magnitudes more powerful than global warming, and would almost fully nullify photosynthesis, causing the end of all ecological life. They aren't aware of it, but this is a straight up global extinction-level event. If we ever had WW3, and all the nukes got launched, the proceeding cataclysm would result in the fall of civilization, and extinction of a majority of Earth's species. Eternal rainfall is the end of humankind and almost all species. Tardigrades won't die, because they're f**king immortal, as well as a couple bacteria species that rely on chemosyntesis and the like. All multicellular species definitely would die though.
Also idk if it was just me who came up with it, but I'm pretty sure the whole point to the end is basically "nature will do what it wants, and who are we to stand in it's way? We should simply live with it"
@jiyuhong5853 different mindsets when writing probably. Look at 5 cm per second and his work Before your name. And in your name the situation was a bit different. So idk if that comparison is entirely fair lol.
I want to open a movie review UA-cam channel. Is it possible to include small clips during a movie review won't it effect in the monetization or copyright issues??
I think the story was kinda viby whenever watched in real time. The narrator of this video kinda makes the movie lose its punch. I really liked the story! It was good in a very personal, almost romantic, like way. Also, flooding tokyo was the answer! Either she dies and the rain stops or she lives and it keeps raining. People can adapt, so let it rain and let the girl live! Sure, a lot got broken by the rain, but it's just rock, wood, and metal. Even one life is worth more than a ton of buildings. Also, a tokyo/venice sounds badass! :D
I like to think it's a whole ass analogy about loving someone with mental/physical illness. Makes it better.
Honestly, with the directors other work, I could totally see it.

The fact that this and Your Name is connected is enough for me to love it...

To me it seems like it’s about rain… but it is are you you can take whatever you want from it :)
As long as that person isn't abusive, fine with me!

I fail to see the problem. just move to the Sahara, the gobi the baja. there are all KINDS of places that can use a few years of hard rain.
dont forget the fact that she doesnt have much money, so she cant just move houses elsewhere

@@cetomedo I don't understand why everyone keeps assuming it's a worldwide rain, it's not. It's just over japan/tokyo
@@BuddyRIP I would say "oh I get it now", but I don't even remember writing this comment. Sorry about that XD
@@cetomedo lmao been there all good
Ngl I have a feeling I have watched this before but I just cant remember
I think rain is a metaphor for reign. Nevertheless, this was a really excellent anime. The animation was fantastic, and the story compelling.
Welp Team Aqua is getting what they want. Finally Kyorge is bringing the downfall of land dwellers
I was so pleased to get to see this in theaters, and it is in my top 5 movies of all time, animated or otherwise.
