    I am not a teacher but your teacher dashboard has so many possibilities! I am a stay at home mum and also a work at home mum and I am so inspired to create a similar dashboard with appropriate topics for both home and work particularly! Amazing!

    The teacher dashboard and lesson plan at a glance is great for students too! I can see myself using it for the columns "homework" "to do" "email" "see miss/mr" "notes" "revision" as a 'student dashboard' if you will, and then the Monday-Friday spread for homework progress, especially ones that take longer to complete!! Thank you

    Really love the Teacher Dashboard idea. Sticky notes would work for me because I'm always in a hurry and my writing is atrocious when I hurry so it would be nice to be able to throw away those ugly notes when I'm done with them, lol.

    Those are some really unique ideas!
    I personally use them for future planning. If there's something I need to accomplish at some unknown time I just stick it on my currently weekly spread, until Its time to transfer that task to my daily.

    I use a lot of post-its too. For example I have a spread for what I like to call long term shopping/wish list, which is things that I know I want to get or should get for the home for example, but they're not a priority. On there I use post-its to group related purchases (like a new craft or hobby I might like to try would get its own list with things I'd need for it). When it's time to actually go spend money on it, I remove the post-it and there's room for a new one. I find this also helps me make sure that I'm not trying to do too many things at once, since I can only fit a certain number of post-its on the page. I also use post-its on a page I have for home organization, since that's something that tends to need to be redone now and then. All different tasks get a stickie note, and I move them further up on the list etc when I come across something in my home that isn't working. It helps me keep track of my priorities, so I don't spend a Sunday every month recategorizing my DVDs instead of making sure stuff isn't falling out of my kitchen cabinets when I open them.
    TL;DR Post-its are awesome and useful in a Bullet Journal for things that need planning often or over longer time.

    I love the sticky note idea, and reusing spreads. I recently started a mind cleanse to-do spread...but it fills up way too fast. I think I might start incorporating sticky notes into it somehow, so I don't use up all the pages in my bullet journal.

    Oh my god thank you for the class spread with the post it notes idea! I'm a student, and I just thought that if I wrote out my timetable like that, I could stick post it notes on it for homework, if I've made notes on the class, revised the topic I learnt ect. Smart! I was looking for solutions to track school work easily, this is it. Thank you very much !!!

    Love the dashboard! I will be setting up one on the inside cover of my EC teacher planner. It's a wet/dry erase board that I thought I would use to jot down brain dumps. This is so much better! It's a more organized weekly brain dump! Thanks for the inspiration!!

    Love the meal planning idea with the post-its. (Meal planning's hard for me, for some reason.) And also appreciated that you use all kinds and sizes of them. As a retired teacher, I also used (and still use) post-its. Now I mostly use them as brain dumps and then stick them like you did with the "key", as a marker for future spreads in my bullet journal.

    Great videos with some helpful ideas.
    I found some small post-its on clearance so I got them before I even started in my BuJo. I use them as tabs to show me my most commonly used pages so I can find them fast. I use the bigger yellow ones for writing notes on before I make my page. And like you said to save a page, especially as I set up a new month.

    I am new to Bullet Journaling, however, I have taken advantage of Post-It Notes -- especially when it comes to lesson planning -- for many years!
    I am a retired music teacher for K-8, and I always wrote my lesson plan names/objectives on Post-It notes within my personal lesson plan book, because, for example, while one particular-grade class might blow through a lesson very quickly, one of my other classes at the same level might have more questions or exploratory experiences, and we would not complete lessons at the same pace.
    By keeping track of each of each classes' progress with sticky notes, I saved myself a lot of time. After making a few notes about our experiences and crossing off the objectives we did cover in my personal lesson plan book, I simply moved each classes' sticky note with "unfinished business" to the next lesson plan box in my personal lesson plan book.
    At the same time, I could "stack" s Post-It note with an interesting topic that I explored with one class at a particular grade level and didn't want any of my other students at that same level to miss out on, by placing that note on their upcoming lesson box in my personal planner.

    Thank you for this video with some great, adaptable ideas. I think your talking was fine. I use Post It notes in my 7"X9" bullet journal, including large ones filling the pages for collections. I found myself wanting or needing to make page changes as I went along, and using the notes gives me that flexibility. I also wanted to avoid time consuming rewrites for more dated entries, such as tasks, monthly and daily logs/do's, and the smaller ones work great. Another thing I have done is turn the book upside down and starting at the other end for tracking entries in two categories which will take undetermined multiple pages. I also use the large Post It notes that cover most of the page for them. One category is where I record ongoing service entries for an adult daughter suffering some disabling medical issues. The other is a daily log of briefly recording actually accomplished to do's or notes of that day. As a result, my journal will be filled up towards the middle somewhere, at which point I will start a new book. Using Post It and Sticky notes indeed save me much time, provide enhanced flexibility, and provide color as I'm not too artistic.

    I love your post it note ideas. I'm a huge fan of post it notes in general, but not so much in my bullet journal. i thought I would be because it was an easy way to add a pop of color or to emphasize something very quickly. The issue I'm having with them, especially those little neon ones from dollar tree you were using is that if I leave them on my LT1917 page for more than a day or two they leave a sticky residue on the paper that drives me crazy. It wouldn't matter if you were just putting another sticky note on top of it right away though. Have you had that issue at all?

    • @alexandraplans18
      @alexandraplans18  8 років тому +2

      I know when I was laying out my journal when I got it I used sticky notes from Target dollar spot so I knew which page I planned to use for what, and they left a sticky residue after a day or two. However, the residue has worn off most of the way and it's only been a couple weeks

    Hi! I really enjoyed your post-it note video and was sure to subscribe so I can discover more great ideas! I noticed that you have an older video pertaining to the Erin Condren planner. I currently use EC (my 2nd year) and am incorporating bullet journal concepts but the more I research bullet journals, I am considering making a switch. However, I am torn between having some of the "work"/setup done for me (EC) and having a fully customized setup that requires a bit more effort. What prompted you to migrate from EC to bullet journal? I have been mulling this over for a while and have wanted to get an opinion from a former planner user so any feedback you have will be greatly appreciated!!!

    I love using Post Its in my journal. (Our family calendar ("this week" on the fridge) is a good place for the size you are using in your meal-planning. So much easier than writing repeated weekly tasks. Love It.) Back to using them in journal: problem I have had with bright-colored Post Its has been that the ink doesn't absorb well. Leaving notes in books (share this, email this, include this in presentation) was leaving ink in the books. Yuk! Has that smearing problems improved?? I haven't bought them in a few years; I've been sticking to light colors.

  • @deborahcraytor3967

    If I understand your lesson plan weekly overview correctly, the idea is that, if you didn't finish the planned activity for, say, U.S. History on Monday, you would take the green post-it and move it down to the Tuesday row. If so, wouldn't it make more sense to have the colors stand for courses, not days of the week? In your current spread, for example, the first column would be all green post-its for U.S. History; the second column would be all pink post-its for World History; and so forth.

    • @alexandraplans18
      @alexandraplans18  8 років тому +2

      That's correct. You would just move the post it down if the lesson took longer than expected, etc. You are right, colors should be for the courses, not for days of the week. :)

    • @Heliflopters
      @Heliflopters 8 років тому +3

      +alexandra plans actually colors for days could be beneficial. it could emphasize how many days a lesson was extended. If you end up with a monday colored sticky on a friday square, you know you are probably taking waay too long. This probably would have happened to me many times in my first year of teaching. I never wanted to move on until ALL of the kids had totally mastered a concept and so we wouldn't even get close to finishing the curriculum. Nowadays I'm much better at knowing when to move on and my lessons are much more differentiated, but back then such a color code would have been an eye opener.
