This will always remind me of my freshman college dorm. Bonzo had died not long before and this along with most of the Led Zep catalogue was played all over the dorm halls daily.
MCA, how much fun you must have showing D.J. this awesome music that he obviously appreciates. D.J., I love watching your reactions to every change in this song, knowing your going to love it all. I'm 70 and was fortunate to have seen them twice in the early 70's. Love your vids!
It’s more than a whisper that Jimmy was deep into his addiction and wouldn’t even show up to the studio on some days so JPJ was behind the mixing board much of the time. Notice how his bass is up in the mix and lots of keys 🎹 on this album. 👍🎶🎹🎵
Just when you think that Jonesy and Bonzo couldn't get any better you have this track. It's so sad to know that this s the last album Bonzo will ever do.
So much to love about this song... but... I would love to hear this stripped down, with the synth further back in the mix and Page's guitar army brought to the fore. Lyrically, one of their best.
The lyrics of this song speak mainly of Plant's resentment toward Jimmy Page for not being emotionally supportive after the death of Robert's son Karac. I suspect that is why Robert's vocal track was buried deeper in the mix by Jimmy than it usually is....he figured out the song was about him.
I adore this song; it is emotional, intense and I consider to be Zep's most prog rock. The vocals are a bit buried under the instrumentation, but the lyrics describe the entire arc of Led Zeppelin to that point and Robert's anger over the lack of support he felt after his son passed. Everything was basically milk and honey when they started ("all was joy and hands were raised towards the sun as love in the halls of plenty overrun"). It described how strong and powerful the group was ("and everything is soon, no sooner thought than deed but no one seemed to question anyway"). However, devastation was lurking ("How keen the storied hunter's eye prevails upon the land to seek the unsuspecting and the weak"). After the tragedy ("Who cares to dry the cheeks of those who saddened stand") the band had to figure out what to do ("...and make the 'status plan'") would Plant want to continue? What was going to happen? In the slowed down middle, part of the lyrics are "Where was your word, where did you go?" and "Where was your helping, where was your bow?" These parts are believed to be addressing Peter Grant and Jimmy specifically as Robert felt "Adrift on a sea of futile speech". From earlier songs, the cracks were already there but I think it was the aftermath of Karac's death that completed Robert's inner break with Zeppelin ("Release the grip, throw down the key") even if, outwardly, he was still in the band. At one point near the end, Robert yells "They had to stay!" I think the lyric is there because out of the group only Bonzo went back with Robert and was present at the funeral. Why? Some say the rest of the band didn't want to add to the already media frenzy during such a difficult time, some say they should have done *something*. Later in the mid-90s, when Jimmy and Robert reunited for Unledded, they would perform In The Evening but during the middle, work in the middle lyrics of Carouselambra but changed, so instead of "Where was your word, where did you go?" etc., you might hear "Where did you come from, where did you go? Strong was your armor, dark was your bow." You should read the full lyrics of the original song; their private story is almost painful to hear out loud. Thank you for your indulgence for this long post.
There's always been a hint of "prog-rock" about LZ, though more rock than prog. Even the earlier, harder hitting, raw rock and blues tracks were different from other bands who aspired to be like them, or were influenced by them. Maybe that's just a product of the times they were born into. This track is about as close as LZ got to being more prog than rock and maybe has a hint of what was to come, once the technology caught up to JP's brain!
LZ - just a whole lotta of greatness! Hi guys, please react to Dimash! He's considered one of the best vocalists with a voice of 6-7 octave range. I recommend Dimash' SOS (Singer 2017 version), the performance that made him widely known.
There are some gems on In Through the Outdoor but this wasn't one of them. Page was the heart and soul of the band and there was not enough of him on this for it to feel like Zeppelin. More like Genesis actually. The following track had the same lack of Jimmy problem but as it had a special meaning for Plant, can be forgiven. JPJ was a huge part of what made Led Zeppelin GOAT but he was at his best playing "second fiddle" to Page. No Quarter may have been a John Paul Jones' creation but Page's solo was the highlight. Ditto with I'm Gonna Crawl, the last track on In Though the Outdoor. A JPJ song but it was Page's solo and Plant's vocals that made it a great Zeppelin song. Go as far to say that Page was vital to Bonham's greatness. Cannot imagine Bonham playing with Hendrix or Clapton or any of the other guitar greats in the way he was in unison with Page.
Page was suffering badly from heroin addiction at this time and Jones and Plant had to lead on this album but this song in particular is a criticism of the band and its distance from reality and also reflected Plant's anger about not being supported, (except by Bonham) when his son died. There are veiled criticisms of Page in particular in the lyrics. Page may have wanted to bury the lyrics in this wall of sound, as he probably realised this.
Can you guys please react to *Jeff Buckley - Grace (BBC Late Show)?* Page and Plant are massive fans of his. According to Page, Jeff was “the greatest singer to appear in two decades” (between the ‘70s and ‘90s), and Plant said that Jeff was “a much greater singer” than him. Brad Pitt also said this about Jeff: “He’s Plant and Page in one, on a technical level; it’s mind-blowing.”
They goto places nobody else can on this track. The only thing I don't like is how they buried alpt of plants vocals so I have no idea what he's saying for most of it. Great track though
The lyrics from Plant included veiled criticisms of Page and how Plant wasn't supported by the band (except for Bonham) after his son died. Maybe that's why Page buried them. Google the lyrics.
Pretty sure Page really lowered Plants vocals on this song. A lot of Plants lyrics has been said to be directed at Page for not showing up to his boys funeral. Wouldn’t blame Plant for slagging him off
If that's tru, why would plant allow it? Didn't he hear the final mix? Nvr heard any stories or interviews with plant where he objects to his vocal treatment
I think the guy on the left if artificially overacting to this as many of these type of "reaction" videos are taking off, they're either paid off or use purposed positive reactions for ratings, see how they act floored within the first millisecond and never even hear it before ?
My Favorite song from the album, and one of my all-time favorite Zep tunes!!! Led Zep at one of their most "Progressive Rock" Best!!!
It's actually become my fav song from them after over 45 years of listening to and loving them. It was always dancing days before that....
Welcome my friend. Carasousalambra is a real treat for the mind..
This is a masterpiece!! JPJ and Bonzo shine on this one!
as they ever do
Impossible to ready yourself for this magnificent song. Just like this whole record, it was love at first listen. Jpj just going off.
You were warned about being ready. This song is impressive even for LZ fans.
I wouldn't have liked this song back then, but now I am a huge fan. Tastes change, thanks to reaction videos re-introducing these timeless gems.

A great album overall and I think underrated for sure.Quite a progressive track this one and my favorite on this album.

Fucking CLASSIC. Greatest rock group ever. RIP John Bonham.
Led Zeppelin forever ♾️
Bonzo R.I.P.
This one of my top 10 favorite songs all time 😌🙏
Led Zeppelin did not compose and release a bad song. "Carouselambra" is one of, many, masterpieces. Next level...
An underrated masterpiece…it may shock you at first, but it is so infectious & amazing…one of the best Zeppelin songs of all time👍🏼
These lyrics are framed on my wall. They are so cool, not sure why! One of my ultra favorite LZ songs.

Zeppelin heralds the 80s, loved the album, still do

@@phillipwatashe2018 you're very welcome.
I love how this song starts out bouncy and disco-ish and then changes throughout the song…long but one of the most unique songs ever in my opinion lol
Keyboards, Yeah!
(Okay, I'll go home now...)
Put this in the same group with Kashmir and Achilles. Just epic ( to use an overused word)
Held now within the knowing
Rest now within the peace
Take of the fruit, but guard the seed
Iconic piece by icons of music.
Such an underrated song. As great as Stairway to Heaven is, I always felt this was their swan song
This was fire!

Zeppelin were ancient….modern…..and futuristic all at the same time. Almost every song like a mini masterpiece. Cheers ✌️ ❤️
Led Zepplin my favorite band, BTS by favorite group. 👍
The story behind the next track is tragic. Bonham and Jones are both fantastic on it though
Just laughing! We used to listen to albums all at once. No one is used to that anymore!
Btw, you forgot the ‘R’ in the song title: Carouselambra
Thank you
Thanks for all the great Led Zeppelin! Hope you’re not holding that guy hostage or anything😳
This is one of the songs I wished they played at the 02 arena
💜💜💜

Absolute truth.
If that's tru, why would plant allow it? Didn't he hear the final mix? Nvr heard any stories or interviews with plant where he objects to his vocal treatment
Plants vocals were always just kind of part of the instrumentation so they were never mixed to be way louder than the rest of the band.
A good song, but mightily poor production.
The last 2 somgs on this album, are the band's best penultimate and last track on any of their albums.
Better than Going to California and When the Levee Breaks? I like All My Love and I'm Gonna Crawl but they got some hefty competition.
I don't often see the word 'penultimate' used correctly, nicely done.
