I"m so happy I find you guys!! You are an excellent teacher and communicator. I started the process of building a teardrop camper with my husband, three years ago and wow...it has been frustrating. You are so right, Get rid of the time frame!!!! Thank you my dear, those words have meant a lot to me, suddenly I feel much better!!! Now I have a crush on airstream. So hopefully it will be our second baby!!! God bless you both!!!!
You are sooooo right about the Timeline thing! I have been renovating a '74 Silver Streak by myself. Started in Nov 2017 and am still working on it. People don't get it. Lots of lost time on weather, my job, other things that life requires attention to. And of course, those days when you "try" to work on it, but you just don't feel like it that day. Also days like today, nothing went right! Dremel blade breaks, drill isn't strong enough for metal, good drill has dead battery, etc! 😉😱
Hey there. I have an Argosy Airstream, and I am doing work on it now...omg, just had to pull up the entire floor. Mold slapped me in the face as soon as I walked in. I thank God it happened before I completed everything. Otherwise, I would have to pull everything out. Not to mention illness from mold. Unfortunately, I can't find where the leaks are, I may have to pull out the bench/bed over the wheel well, because the leak and wood rot is near it. The wood rot is right at the door. Do you mind if i sent you some pics and questions on repairs? Thank you.
Thanks for this. We own a 1992 29' Excella Classic. It was in pretty good condition when we bought it in July 2012. That said the interior needs updating and upgrading. We sold our home last year, but luckily we still own a rental home which we will be living in while we redo the interior. We are planning to do a full gut down to the ribs. We found this video helpful and inspirational. Thanks.
Wow, this video was so information packed! New sub! We don’t have our airstream picked out yet, so I’ll be rewatching this video several times more carefully, once we’re ready to get down to... rivets I guess.
You hit it on the nose. I am trying to reno my 1961 Streamline by myself. My trailer is 25 miles away sitting in my Mom's yard. So every time I work on it I have to unload it and reload. I have zero construction experience. So youtuber's have been my go to. I'm going on four years...hardly anything done yet.
Great info! We are a few months into our 1976 SOV build and have it down to the frame and shell. You guys have great videos of your work! Did you do a shell lift on any of your builds?
I think the walls have to be thought over when thinking of painting. You painted white and it looks fantastic. You also mentioned durability, and with paints, durability is a big problem, any color will show wear and tear. There is now a rubber like paint that you spray on. I used it on my car and it is really tough. It also can be peeled off again, and the paint underneath is not damaged. I have two thoughts on this. I get my supply from DipYourCar(dot)com. I am not affiliated with them, I just use their product. There are many colors including CLEAR. They all spray on, can be maintained and fixed if damaged and can be peeled off and repainted. In the case of clear, it can protect the color underneath. Gets dirty and can't be cleaned, peel it off and repaint. I actually really like the white in your Airstream. It looks fantastic and I don't think any other color would have the impact that your coach has. Might try using some of the clear spray coat in high traffic areas to protect it. Nice job.

It is tough for sure!!

is it hard to install an oven in an already renovated airstream?

It’s like you are in my head. LOL renovating a 76 Argosy. One day I actually laid outside in a fetal position and cried. lol just subbed btw.
Great information! Thanks!
Hey may I ask what year your airstream is? It looks very similar to my grandparents and my uncle gave a rough timeline of the 70s or later.
This Airstream was a 1975 31' Sovereign.
What material did you use for the interior walls?
They are the same aluminum skins that are already in the Airstream we just painted them

We haven't yet, probably will this summer!
How long did it take you?
About 9 months! It was HARD!
That number 2...sista, you are so spot on! And yet, we are ready to do another one, are we crazy? hahaha. btw, this is @shinyhousemovement ;)

Nice job.
Forgot to mention That I'd love to know what type of insulation you decided on.
We started with spray foam and then changed to Roxul. On our next one we'll be doing far more research and probably doing a Roxul, reflectix combo.
Thanks, I was not familiar with the Roxul brand. It seems like a good product, especially for this application.
Smart and beautiful nice lady
So you spent all that money on the remodeling and there’s no air conditioner? Brilliant!
There definitely is an air conditioner. If I had it on during filming, you wouldn't be able to hear what I was saying!
