I saw this with my family at the Goodman last night--"right in the very front row." An absolutely shattering performance that garnered an extended standing ovation. The loudest and longest sustained applause I've ever heard in a theatre. You literally have to see it to believe it. Even if you've seen the 1992-93 production, it will surprise you how much more life and creativity they've managed to add to this update 30 years on. The choreography alone was mesmerizing, and made the 2 hour show fly by with constant excitement and anticipation. I hope it comes back to Broadway next year, and I hope it wins all the awards. A splended cast and group of musicians from top to bottom. Keep your fingers crossed you'll be able to see this show. We'd come back several more times if we could.
I never considered myself a "Musical" dude but seeing the original Broadway production back in the early 90s changed everything. It blew my mind and left me stunned. I hope this is laying the groundwork for a national revival.
Just saw the revival, it's amazing! I remember seeing the original at the Macy's parade in 1993. I've been hoping for a revival for years. What a welcome jolt this show is! Ali owns the stage, well done! I'll be going back in May. :D
I just saw this production the other day and it was masterful. I feel like they could have changed some things and possibly have given us a bit of a pause when it went all future dystopia on us- but overall this was my dream production of Tommy
I just saw the broadway production last night. While the production was tight, the scenery was phenomenal and the acting superb. I was really let down by telling of the story. Written from a post modernist perspective, the play had any sense of transcendence taken out of it. The ending was hallow and unsatisfying. Who are they following in the song Following You?!
I was not lucky enough to see the original. However the bits I have seen of it on video and the cast recording are incredible. I did see this production. And it was brilliant. It's the closest one could get to the original production with Des directing it again.
I disagree. The show struggles with some aging theatrical cliches. This spinning, jumping, undulating, spastic 1960’s style dancing left me wanting to lunge for the exits!

Just got my tickets for April in NYC...CAN'T WAIT!!!
It’s in Chicago….
The greatest Broadway production to ever leave Broadway. So PSYCHED for its return after 25 long years without it.

I saw it today and it was... PHENOMENAL!

The original Broadway production was spectacular.
... but this play @ Goodman is brilliant and is leaving an unforgettable impression.
This one was so good !!

Always thought it was a weird and demonic movie that made absolutely no sense 😂
The movie, yes. The musical is better.
I saw the original on Broadway several times. This looks like more of the same. Boring
WIll be at the first preview next Friday!
