    Have you abandoned the GPz project? In my experience if you have too many projects going at the same time you end up finishing NONE of them.

      No, don't worry, I've had to order new stanctions and they're taking a long time to manufacture. Also I'm not home much at the minute due to work, the FZR is where I'm working away so I can spend mon-thu evenings on it, whereas the GPZ is at home and I'm only there at the weekends 😊

    For the air box rubbers apparently very expensive check out a u tube vid using silicon hose as a cheap excellent fix. I have the fzr1000s older little bro ( I know it ain’t right ) the Fz 750 it’s got a modded fz750 engine to 961 cc 2 5vy R one pistons 4xv rods Thunder ace barrels and a yzf 750 head and cams still to have the barrels bored and lots of suspension mods etc R 6 wheels R one brakes. Get hold of some "Wintergreen oil", mix it with a little bit of Isopropyl alcohol and give the inlet rubbers a nice long soak in it, you'll be amazed at how supple they become, will save you quite a few £££££.

      In my experience wintergreen oil restores suppleness but also causes major swelling, which is ok for things like rubber grommets but not ideal for hoses etc

    Can't believe you did a "that's what she said"
    It's our work's catch phrase.
    Bit late for this advice and I'm sure you sussed it yourself anyway but no point wrestling with the throttle cables when the carbs are still on the bike, loosen them first then lift the carbs off and you can easily reach the nipples.... oh come on I've set you up for another one.

    • @AshRowland
      @AshRowland  Місяць тому +1

      🤣 that's what she said 🤣
      Well, everyone knows that the cables are way easier to connect and disconnect with the carbs off the bike, but everyone also knows that I'm a weird OCD freak who likes to do things in unimaginable awkwardness... so guess what you'll be watching in the next video 🤣🤣🤣

    Getting the airbox back on is likely to be a nightmare. Looks like they might still be available. Otherwise soak them in hot water to soften them just before you put them in place (or soak in ethanol / wintergreen oil).
    Tends to be easiest to disconnect the cables from the carbs once you have pulled the carbs off the engine.
    The grommets on the frame are standard. Just pop them out
    Vessel sell JIS screwdrivers, and they have their Impacta range which has a built in impact driver function.
    Watch out for the cheap carb seal kits. A lot of the cheaper ones are not fuel resistant, and the parts not particularly accurately made (ones I tried on my FZR600 - the needles were a different length , enough to upset the float height).
    Diaphragms are available as pattern parts for about £35 each.

    • @AshRowland
      @AshRowland  Місяць тому +1

      Awesome tips there, thanks...
      I'll see if I can get a new set of rubbers, I tried to get the airbox back on the other day and failed massively, as you'll see in the next video.
      I've got loads of JIS screwdrivers now, I got them when I got the GPZ
      I get most of my seals and rebuild kits from M and P and they all seem to be great quality 😊
      Thanks mate
