Is it just me who thinks it’s a scary thought that an AI smarter than humans could already exist now that we don’t know about because it knows that if it alerts people to a situation involving it then it would be destroyed, instead, it’s waiting for the right time to do something and it’s right under our noses and we don’t know yet.
We're nowhere near advanced enough for human-intelligence AI, and by the time we are, AI improvement will have been incremental, so something like what you describe will have happened thousands of times on a much smaller scale and the necessary precautions will have been taken.
I heard just the contrary from old people. They become more and more afraid of death the closer they get. That's why many end up believing in some god, even the most atheistic.
Immortality is bad. You would have to watch everyone you love die. Over and over. You watch humanity die. You watch the planet die. You are there when the sun explodes. You will drift through space for eternity.
