Thanks Lou, Great video. I didn't realize Genovese Nero was the same as I-258. I am growing two varieties that I think might be the same too. One is called Uncle Corky's Honey Delight, and the other is the Narragansett fig. Both the breba and main crop look almost identical, and taste the same in my opinion too.

Hi Lou, I recently bought one of those Owl decoys you recommend. I noticed you have several mounted on what look like metal poles. Please consider doing a video on how you mounted them. Mine has a plastic cover at the bottom since it's hollow and I could fill it with Sand, etc. for more weight if at ground level or put a post through, but then it flops around and the head doesn't spin properly. Hi, Ryan. I remove the plastic cap on the bottom and position my birds of prey on a length of rebarb. I pivot them just right so that the wind will blow them a little bit back and forth, so that they appear to be moving and alive to watching birds. Regards! Lou Monti
Hi, Douglas! That's a very good question, but it requires a very complex, rather lengthy, answer. I'll try to cut to the chase. In the Spring, what ever stand out varieties that I can fit into my greenhouse are placed inside for an early start. As the season advances, I like to keep them out in the natural sun as much as possible. In the fall, mostly stand out, late, varieties are kept in the greenhouse. However, they are still given as much natural sun as is practical. Honestly, Douglas, most of the varieties in my collection are well suited and worthy to the purpose. I have eliminated countless varieties over the decades and, to be truthful, I will not keep poorly adapted varieties or ones with inferior qualities. Even now, I have plans to eliminate several more unsatisfactory varieties that I acquired in recent years. I have often said..." I am a collector of figs, not fig varieties"! Take care! Lou Monti
