Yeah i just recently noticed that a lot of artists have deeper speaking voices than singing voices. Like melanie martinez also sounds very different when she talks and when she sings.

yeah. lots of artists are like that. Mariah has a husky talking voice, but has a feathery high pitched voice. Lil Kim has girlish voice but has husky rapping voice.
This song gives me so so so much strength.

If you watch her performance on JBTV you can see in her performance she’s forcing that baby voice, eventually her voice is going to get worn out and tired, so she needs to be careful.
@@Hellobellosss I also think there is a mixing issue. She likes to whisper. It is part of her magic. But it is very hard for an acoustic guitar to provide both a full sound, while also ducking behind a whispering solo singer. In mixing it is easy:
Just let the guitarist play full power to get a rich sound. Let her whisper for effect.
Mix the guitar down in loudness, lower higher frequencies to give room for her, Then increase her loudness and her frequencies.
Maybe I imaging things, but I think in the CD version I hear the guitar kind of ducking behind her voice, while in live versions both the guitar and her voice occupy the same "space".
So awesome the different between her talking a singing voice, a unique sound, love it

I mean: How else could it be? Her whispering as to overpower the of the guitar for the CD-Version.
The switching of her voice and the guitar being center stage is part over the power.
She has to hide behind the guitar during phases, but she also needs to take center stage so show her self.
She is never lonely in the song, but clearly she is going trough phases of laying back and pushing forward.
She is absolutely pretty.
