I never trust Amazon reviews due to the number of bot farms that exist these days. I appreciate you taking the time to make an actual video to prove that the product is quality. It still disappoints me that UA-cam took away dislikes as that always helped balance the review economy on here as well, but this demonstration seems pretty straight forward.
5 years later and your video is still helping people.
Thank you for showing us the hard way and then the easier way when facing the boards, instead of trying to squeeze the buster between the boards.
Hahaha, yeah realized that during editing. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this video! I was looking at all the selections on Amazon and a little overwhelmed by all the choices. This helped me make the decision. Also... love grandpa!!!
Glad to help.
Great! This is by in my Amazon cart, but I wanted a demonstration. Thanks for this!
More Grandpa!
We love the Grandpa videos too.
It was so inexpensive I bought it within days of finding this video. It worked!! 🎉
I tried a few other methods before finding this one. Thanks for the tip!
Glad it helped!
I got mine and it works well. Very thin wood will still break but I give it a 9.5.
Thanks for watching.
I bought two of these 5 years ago- tried to use it last week and could not remember how the damn thing worked - watched your video and I'm busting pallets again- thanks
Thanks for watching
I just got a large pallet delivery to build my chicken coop. And my friend told me there's a tool for it. I just got it now I'm gonna go out in the rain and try it. Thanks grandpa for the video
There's another version of that pallet Buster that the salad bars in the front and a nail puller in the back 3-piece extension and it's on an angle where you don't have to bend all the way forward solid bars in front and a nail puller and back
Yes, that one may be better. This works but is cumbersome to use
I just got one like that from Amazon. Once I figured out to place the unit all the way under wood it works, otherwise the 2 lifters fold down. (not clear what I am saying). It is a lot easier then sledge hammers and other methods. I also got a nail extractor from amazon that connects to an air compressor. Makes removing the nails fast and actually fun.
I'll have to look at the nail extractor
This tool works great but I cant seem to get a full length pallet board without the ends blowing out, mainly have endless pine pallets.
That was one well earned thumbs up. 9:04 sealed the deal on the thumbs up. LOL! I wish I could email you a beer. GREAT JOB! Give praise to the big dummy too.
Thank you kindly
Great info, Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
I have a similar unit but without those awkward swiveling bits. Having cleaned out 40 -50 pallets with mine, thi=ose swivelling bits do seem to get in the way. But, Heh! it works.
Yes I agree the swivel has it's drawbacks
They keep the metal level under the boards so less chance of breaking.
The swivel causes less stress and therefore less breakage. Have used both types and for me the swivel is better by far.
The OG came out and made sure it was legit.
Yes he sure did
Pops gotta keep him straight! 😁
I’ve busted up a lot of pallets and I’m sure glad I got me one of those. I see here on UA-cam though there’s many different varieties without using the tool but for me the tools easiest and as far as getting the nails out, I usually get my harbor freight cutting tool and just zip the nails off with about 1 inch left then one tap and it pops him out far enough to where you could get a hammer on the head of the nail and they come out real easy a lot of times when you’re pulling the nails and pounding it just takes a little bit too much time and a lot of times you don’t hit the nail straight so then you gotta bend it back up and straighten it out and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah but I’m sure there’s other ways of doing it just as efficiently just my take on it. But ultimately for an old man like me, was wise to invest in this tool I found mine on Facebook marketplace for 30 bucks.
Thanks for the comment
when I lived in Pennsylvania the had companies that rebuilt pallets the workers made 10.00 per 15 pallets.
Thanks for watching
I love the older gentleman. He has swagger!!!
Grandpa Ray
Old guy looks like Max from grumpy Old Men.
That's a genius tool. They also make an air powered nail pusher. It really speeds up the nail removal. Make sure to use safety goggles and a bucket for the nails to go into.
Thanks for watching
Just got mine delivered and was just looking for any tips. I’d planned on cutting the ends and prying the middle. I can see that isn’t needed. Did you try smaller thinner material?
It worked well for the pallets we had, the more we used it the easier it got
@@AxlesGarage so I have found that the new pallets with thin pine stock was a dream to break down… the old thicker slat hard wood pallets were a bitch to put it nicely.
I like the stronger build of this tool compared to the other ones they sell. It will probably be in my family for many years. Hi pops!
Ps Subscribed
Yes, this is heavy duty
I use it for removing damaged boards in between good boards . Speed and salvaging the wood not so much
Seems like the wobbly bars hurt more then they help. They should have a way to pin them in place.
It gets better the more you use it and get familiar with the tool.
That helps to keep the metal flat under the wood so you don't crack it.
After you take off the first board why, why do you then do the second and third boards the most difficult way ever?
LOL, yes we realized that during editing.
Looks good but over here in Blighty I’ve seen it priced as high as £220 where’s as the roughneck pallet breaker is £20. Ain’t as good but that price difference. Pity really.
Thanks for watching
Dude. Thank you.
I be using that affiliate link shortly.
Thanks so much, we appreciate it
Older gentleman asked how you get the nails out once the board is off. Look up an air punch nailer.
Thank you
Check out airlocker I love mine
I will def look for this! I have tons of pallets to get rid of, bulk wont pick up anymore “business out of the home” blah blah blah. Need a way to dispose of like 4 pallets a week so got a buster and a fire pit, nail extractor sounds good too.
Wonder if ryobi makes one, have a bunch of ryobi tools/batteries. Thanks for idea
@@Jake-yf3gv air locker ap700 is a decent one
😂 grampa want that tool for him self 🙏🤣 he have fun.
This video makes me want hot dogs. That said, I'll be making one of those tools!
LOL Thanks
I'm here getting ideas to make my own too.
Thanks for sharing and what's that what grandpa said about snowflakes??
i just order one
Thanks for watching
LOL at about 8.30 mark. Old men are crazy!
Did he say big dummy is behind the counter?
The Big-Dummy is behind the Camera. It's my son..... A Sanford & Son reference.
Great tool, not designed to work on the block pallets.
Agreed!
If Grandpa can do it then I can do it too.
Yes you can
this wont work with boards over 4 inches with 3 fixing nails its impossible the only way is to get them off with a big large hammer .this works great with 4 inch boards with only 2 nails in . trust me ive made all these pallet breakers most work on 4 inch boards with 2 nails but removing larger boards with 3 large deep nails in doesnt work
Thanks for the tip
The new "improved" version of their pallet buster is not so heavy duty and does not have the swivel heads.
Yeah, I noticed that
I like this heavy duty version best
Pallet buster not very good on pallets with blocks
Yes, you are correct, but seems to do a decent job on most styles.
Can you recommend one that works for those?
@@l31007 sledge hammer. No, really, I just hit the blocks with a 8 pound sledge and it knocks the blocks right off the deck boards.
@@mikeking7470 Yes, I found that out shortly myself.
According to your Amazon link, your using a different brand.
Vergo has since changed the design, the updated one is here: amzn.to/2HpfdYi

@@AxlesGarage the second one uses pictures of two different types of pallet busters in their listing. I'm sure the one they are selling has the one piece forks.
🏥
Thanks for watching
I just got mine delivered. Looking forward to not splitting pallet planks anymore .......
If your going to use grandpa as slave labor at least get him a pneumatic nail puncher to remove nails. It's an Air Locker AP700 and I forgot is grandpa a card carrying union member of United Federation Of Pallet Breakers United? 🤣😂😅
Thanks for watching
6:50 LOL. A victim of his own success. :)
Thanks for Watching
Too heavy for a snow flake! 😂
Thanks for watching
@@AxlesGarage I just got my own pallet buster yesterday. Exactly the same just Blue
No good pallet buster!
Thanks for watching.
That’s awesome but I don’t understand why the old man’s doing your guises project it was your idea laugh out loud poor guy
He likes to do that stuff for and with us. Keeps him young
I am not impressed yet. The pallets I get have screw-like nails! The nails used in these videos must be "normal," smooth. I have not had a pallet yet with smooth nails. Therefore, the boards ALWAYS break or the nails break. Do another video with a close-up view of the nails you are pulling out. then I might believe it.
Thanks for watching
This is garbage, broke half of the boards on the first pallet, then the pallet buster actually bent on the next pallet.
Depends on the pallet. Sometimes it worked great, others not so much
