I really enjoy this series on early Rhodesian history.
On a side note, in the UK not many people have even heard of Rhodesia, my dad and one of my friend's dad's were the only people who actually had any knowledge of your country.

You can put that down to the education system in the UK over the the last forty years . Politically driven policy of wokeness changing what they choose to teach as regards history. Even changing having history as a subject and replacing it with a catch all calling it social studies shows you what they are up to . It is then left to the individual to show a interest in history and do their own research into such a great and wide subject and dig themselves to try and find the truth of our past . This did not happen by accident, it’s called dumbing down, and we should reject it.

In Hawaii where I grew up on an American Army base, stories of how missionaries arrived in the 1820s abound, and yes many Hawaiians took new Christian religions to more devout depths that the missionaries and their descendents generally did. Even today in the hills of the Big Island, one can see evening prayer meetings in homes and churches, be it Latter Day Saints, Methodist or any assorted Christian CofE demoninations. There is a melancholy beauty in these stories!

00:27:00 - It is great to hear that the seeds the missionaries sowed into the hearts of black Rhodesia are now baring fruit...
    Matthew 13:8
Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop-a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.
As a white Christian in the UK I can tell you that we need them, as the Church of England is apostatised, compromising the Word of God least it offends the listener, while God's Word says...
    1 Peter 2:6-8
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believes on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, *and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient:* whereunto also they were appointed.
Unfortunately, the vast majority of people flooding into the UK today are Muslims who then seek to impose on us the same values over here that brought about the very putrid fruits they sought to escape. But maybe these godly Zimbabweans can show them Christ, who has made many a bearded man a lamb of God having been born-again of the incorruptible seed of Christ's spirit rather than remain of the corrupted seed of Adam who fell.
    John 1:12-13
12 Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
13 children born *not* of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, *but born of God.*

@@seanonel in all honesty? We are quite the diverse culture. Farming, mining, leather tanning industry. These things have brought many to the hills in search of work. I know that there are many surnames that could fit the bill as being of that persuasion. It had said that "Dutch" sounding names came from the Pennsylvania "Dutch" ( Which actually are "Deutsche" or German and are of Amish or Mennonite lineage) which followed the tanneries as they moved with the changing of the Chestnut blight as it progressed south. Chestnut bark being one of key ingredients in the process and the blight killing off of the trees. So yes it is quite possible.

In the late 1970s and early 80s many Rhodesians moved to South Africa and some of them joined the South African armed forces. South Africans like and admire, tough, courageous, honest Rhodesians. On the other hand, the mentality of other Rhodesians irritates South Africans. In particular,, the misleading claim that there was nothing like apartheid in Rhodesia is inevitably resented.

@@juslitor True, if you are trapped or bond to the system of Ceasar, ofcourse you should render to Ceasar that belongs to Ceasar... Doesn't mean you should stay a slave of Ceasar...
People don't understand that there's two governments at war in this world... The government of the world that wants to rule over you and tell you what's right and what's not and what you can do and what not... And the government ( Kingdom) of God, where you should not have people ruling over you (Matthew 20: 25-26) and tell you or decide for you what to do...
It should not be this way with God fearing man... No, God fearing man should not rule over other man but let God rule and not man... Just like Gideon did when the people wanted to make him king, he said: I will not be your King and my son's al so will not be your king but God will be your King... There was a time before the voice of the people ( democracy ) of Isreal wanted a king to rule over them. When the people was free to do whatever they found in their heart the right thing to do and did that...
That was the time they not rejected God,(1 Samuel 8)but lived free and the Way God intended people to live... The people wasn't perfect but the "system, government, Kingdom of God" of freedom was... The systems Moses and Jesus came to establish was in agreement with each other...
God wants everyone to be free and be responsible for their own life and choices... In the government (Kingdom) of God you have the choice to listen to the Holly Spirit and be free, but in the kingdom of Nimrod, Babylon, Pharaoh, Ceasar or Ramaphosa you don't...
We are all back in the bondage of Egypt, and we are bond to render to Ceasar( Ramaphosa) that belongs to Ceasar... But we have the Lord's Kingdom, we don't have to stay bound...
We need to move towards the Government (Kingdom) of God, where no man rules over us but God... That's the network, the Eclisia, the government, the church that Jesus came to establish and the Apostles expanded... Not this idea we have of a Church today... It was a network, a government where people took care of each other and loved each other and loved their King and had a other King which was not Ceasar ( Ramaphosa)...
But they had to be careful not to use this freedom for evil but too love one another and take responsibility for themselves and each other...
In this times, there will come a small rock from the mountain, and it will grow and grow without the hands of man...
That rock will become a massive boulder and destroy this statue of a government of men that wants to rule over another men... It will be crushed to dust and free man will walk on the earth and experience freedom, love and peace for a 1000 years...

I seems that arrogance, perceived superiority and inflexibility were the hall-marks of the Boer leadership in those days. Odd that the English, who were seen as their bugbear were labelled almost identically. Even so far as claiming greater 'favour' from God as his chosen people...Little wonder they eventually clashed so violently. By contrast, the Rhodesian embraced change and diversity for the common good, suffered no abundantly obvious delusions of grandeur, and was highly adaptable. How unjust things pan out in the end, it seems to me.
