Wow all I got to say if Mexico go through with it, they won't like the end results. Now for myself I would not pick a cruise going to Mexico if they do.
Yikes. That's a lot of money for families, especially if the $42 is per stop. On the other hand, where are the cruise lines going to go if they can't stop in Mexico? I can't think of any ports in the Caribbean-Bahamas with the capacity-infrastructure to absorb the number and types of ships that Cozumel serves. West Coast cruises would be totally - um, what's the word - There is no other place to go, except up to Canada and Alaska, and there's no room at the inn for more ships. Hopefully some compromise can be reached. I have to say that I'm not mad about the MX government wanting more income for their defense department, if some goes to fighting organized crime/gangs.
I already have Mexico cruises booked in 2026. I only stop at one port in MX on my cruise. So the price difference is not devastating, but I don’t really like paying an extra 84 bucks just to park the ship in Cozumel. I still get off and spend in Mexico, but maybe now not as much. I want to support the people of MX but not the Army? I sail out of Galveston a lot. What if the Mexican army General is named Santa Anna? If you know you know 😮. Don’t want that either lol. Look out Texas.
Yeah and definitely if all this goes through without changes, this’ll really affect all Caribbean embarkation ports but mostly Galveston, New Orleans and Los Angeles. Is it time to repeal the passenger vessel services act and allow cruise ships to operate in US ports without a foreign port stop? Sounds crazy right? Talk about rocking the cruise industry hard core. How’d you like a cruise that only sailed the west coast from LA to Seattle with stops on the way. How about a New England cruise only, no Canada? How about a different way to travel in the USA? Better build long distance ferry boats that can act like cruises? I want to go from Galveston to New York for a few weeks, but I don’t want to fly or take a long train ride. Go back to the old times, let’s sail there! 😂, well I’m obviously delirious from eating too much holiday turkey and pecan pie. So I’ll go back on my diet now lol.
Yeah so the lines are threatening to pull out of Mexico over $42 per person. The real question is if they do pull out of Mexico then where they go instead? This would cause even worse crowding in every other port. This sucks but the truth is the lines can’t just pull out.
I can afford it, just not going to pay it. Plenty of other cruise options out there. People already pay port fees, which are taxed. Screw Mexico, if that is their attitude.
Thank you for watching hit like and subscribe

While planning a 2026 cruise, I will avoid Mecico, just in case!
I don't cruise to Mexico anymore

Another Cruise blogger stated that it's for each Port, so if you go to four ports in Mexico, that would be $160 per person.

$42.00 per person, per port.
It's just plain greed. The cruise ships are already paying a port fee for every visit. And why does Mexico even need a military?
they will still go there if profit is there.
Cruises are a luxury, not necessity. If someone can't afford it, book another vacation.

Cruise lines should just go to other ports. Highway robbery.
