Followed your steps with my multimeter. Clear and straightforward. I learnt allot with this video and diagnosed my offside mirror as being defective and ordered a new one the next day. Thank you.

Nice video. I'm actually having this problem with my driver side (left) mirror not heating. I have just lived with it because last time I had a look new mirror was 50€ so I quess I should look again.
Thanks alof for great videos! I love them as they have helped me do alot of repairs and upgrades, f.ex. big/police brakes. I have a 2005 and would like to upgrade my mirrors in order to get mirrors with turning lights, but I don't know how to get them to work, as the wiring will have to be rebuild/led to the mirrors instead of beeing connected to the excisting turning lights on the sides. Do you know or would you tell me or make a video? I think many people would appreciate it, there is no video on the UA-cam channel showing how to do this as I have searched for some time already. If you know of anywhere that shows this upgrade, I would be foreve greatful!!! Thanks alot in advance.
@@sirobb thanks for the advice. I thought the 2005 had the same wiring as the 2007 as they are both facelift-models. I learned a lesson when consulting my Volvo-mechanic. You confirmed his comment. Thanks 🤗😊😇
@@sirobb Thanks, reason am asking is because i only have a light up meter and i tested my old glass for continuity and didn’t have any then when i received my new used glass it did have continuity however when i come back to fit i had forgotten which one went where but worked the way i had fitted it. Only just done the job 20mins ago seems to work but wanted to double check
My mirrors just fell to the ground I glued them back but the heating isnt working anymore of course. I need to order new ones. Where can I get new ones?
Fuse continuity is tested and proved with voltage test across the fuse contacts. If the fuse was blown, the voltage drop would be out of range. The tests shown should be sufficient.
@@sirobb a voltage test specially on a running vehicle could spike the current and if the fuse wasn't the problem before, it could be after the short caused by the volt meter
@@mikhailgrigoryev5757 A voltage test cannot short anything. That's not how meters work. If you feel my video lacks anything, please do your version and post the link. I'm always happy to learn more.

So helpful! I was hopeless trying to diagnose my heated mirrors not working and then I found your video. Great work!

Thank you for this! Will do this over the weekend.
Thank you very much for this video, very clearly explained
great info. I feel I can check mine now. Thanks
Can they be repaired if you can find the break like the rear window defrost or do you have to buy a new one?

Here in Sweden i can buy heated mirrors for my Volvo S60 for 24 euros a piece
Thank you really ever so so much
Nice video and to the point 👍. What do you think would make the mirror read 0 resistance? Just old or damaged?
Do you mean the meter was reading 0.000?

I wouldn't go altering the wiring just for some extra lighting.
Far too many things to go wrong.

Are these mirrors polarity sensitive? Can any of the wires go back each/both ways? Thanks
Pretty sure it doesn't matter but it's quick enough to check current draw in both positions with a multimeter like shown.

I bought mine from a Volvo breaker on eBay.
I got a new pattern replacement for about £10 from ebay. Been working well for 2 years so far.

Whats the milage on the D5? :D
205k miles
why not scrap all this and just test the mirror first
Please explain?
not rocket science is it messing around just test the mirror glass with multimeter @@sirobb
