There’s almost a spiritual quality to this young man’s admiration for his “hood” and gang. I would describe it as fanaticism akin to religious fanaticism. It gives his life meaning it seems.
I'd say romanticism. Same as when American teenagers were sent too WW1. The gov romanticized war as a coming of age experience which was totally wrong and detrimental.

Here is the thing about gang life. Lots of young boys from 15-30 yrs. old. They don't think right and all they are thinking about is party, doing drugs, selling drugs, and women. But once you hit 35yrs and up. You think different. You kind of think back while you do all that shit and wish you haven't done it. This is the 21 Century. gang life is not the way to go.
