I live in Johnstown. Lived through the 77 flood. Being from here, I've seen dozens of documentaries & films about this horrendous flood. None compares to the quality and clarity of this film. It's terrific. Beautifully re-created and clearly narrated.
Great video, sitting in Johnstown it's really sad to see the reality of the devastation that took place here. Those rich people should have went to prison for years for what they did.
and one could argue, that the member of that infamous club were "domestic terrorists" of sorts!!! Because why would they remove the cast iron pipes that helped control the water levels in the South Fork Dam to prevent overflowing and whatnot (which later led to the actual bursting of the dam itself)???
An excellent video which understandably used previous video shots since there was no actual film of the catastrophic flood decimating the town of Johnstown.
There’s a book I read ten or fifteen years ago on this flood. A really detailed description of what happened in Johnstown. It goes into much more detail of the disaster. It’s worth reading. A very sad story.

It's sad that most of the towns people, didn't know they lived below a lake.
Isn't this film from the South Fork museum? My favorite.
Love that intro!
The rich wanted a lake and the poor paid for it with their lives,
Even to this day we fill in floodplain with structures...we repeat history when we do not need it
The filthy rich never were held acountable. Just like today.
Read McCullough's book.
My great great great great uncle was mentioned 😮.
Wate a minute my great great great grandmother's cousin was mentioned. 😉
