- I’ve been wheeling with my 43” Mickey Thompson Baja Pro XS tires for about 6 months now…but as a trailer queen, I wasn’t sure how the would do on the highway…Find out my thoughts here!!
My Jeep tires and your Jeep tires are of the same brand and size. May I ask what you use to balance the tires,. My tire cannot be balanced. Do you only use balance beads to balance it? How many beads do you need to balance the tire,
I have the same everything size and brand and i even mounted mine by hand... old school way and Zero balancing and have zero issues with them on the hwy ! Loud yes vibration or shakes .. ZERO-NONE ! i will be buying these again maybe even bigger ! ... my question is what gears are you running in your diffs ... im running F350 Super Duty diffs with 4.11 gears ! 😂
Bro I wouldn't run anything less than 4.56 with tires that size lol
Your truck is a BEAST!!! Love it brother.
170 miles rage on a full tank?! (Based on your dash 3/4 tank and 128 miles range)
Amazing video! Getting these for my 392 in 38's and your video pushed mee over the edge to buy em! Qu
ick question... do you have a video or a list somewhere of your insane Bilstein shock / lift setup?!
My brother I just got the 43x15x17 baja sx tires. Just wondering how did you balance your tires .
Good info on the 43 and road manners! Is there any stretch of highway anywhere without construction! 😂 🇺🇸
😂😂 it sure doesn’t ever feel like it!!
your jeep shifted like 30 times in the 1 min I watched so far on the highway. A, it's lacking power, B your trans is going to go pretty soon. It's going to start slipping if it hasnt already. Those are the negatives that I see with your setup. You might want to look into upgrading your trans asap so it doesn't strand u somewhere. Maybe add a supercharger. Nothing crazy. Maybe 5 psi just to get that little bit extra hp for the hills so your not downshifting so much. Thats alot of unsprung weight per corner. Just my 2 cents.
Jeep is still going strong but no longer on the 43s. I build a new gladiator with a demon conversion and 8hp95 trans…so no more power loss! Haha
That have a 4.5 lift with them 43's ?
You mentioned that they were super soft and sticky when you got to the Bilstein facility, which leads me to believe that they will not last very long if driven to the trails. So I’m curious to know how the wear was on your round trip. Was there a noticeable difference?
They actually had about 1500 miles of trail riding prior to this trip. Now they have around 3000 miles combined trail and street. You can definitely see some wear, probably in the realm of 15-20% but no major chunks missing…so the soft material holds up well. It’s definitely not a Mickey Baja Boss A/T getting 50,000 miles…maybe half that…but performance wise, it’s an amazing tire…and the look is just insane.
Gears? Maybe hear it to 4.88 or 5.10 gears
I live in a state with 80mph on the interstate. My 34" mud terrains suck at that speed on stock gearing in my 4runner. Ever take the Jeep to 80 and watch the tach hate you?
Haha yea, 80 is definitely a lot more tricky…on flat surface it’s fine, but hit a hill and you’re pegged! Haha probably well up to 4500-5000 rpm and kicked down to the lowest gear possible
I imagine with 43's you must be running 5:38 gears in that JT?
Yup that is correct!! I will say…about 70…maybe 75…is about as fast as you’ll get this thing haha…but it was built to be a crawler!! And it does great at that!
Hi! Where did you purchase your tires?
How many miles you put in these tires man? I msged mickey thompson to ask how many road miles could i expect out of these seeing i drive my rig to the trail and back.
I have about 4000 miles on them now and show some noticeable wear when comparing to a brand new one but still tons of life! To be honest though, if you’re street driving, it’s probably a 15-20k tire…the XS in the DOT non-stickie…but I can tell you, they are soft and heat up quick. I love this tire on the trails though!!
OK those angled shots are annoying. Nevertheless, I like your gladiator. I have the km3. 37. I love them . Those look cool though. Mine have 17000 mix driving no where noisy as those. Holy cow that's loud. I do have the ecodiesel too. I cruise at 1800 going 75 mph. Add amorlite flooring it will make your cab quite and easier to clean. Makes you stereo sound better too.
Haha which shots? I’m always looking for ways to improve the video content! Still new to it. They are definitely loud…and those 43’s are a lot to turn over! I like the Armorlite recommendation!
You might wanna lay off the speed. These mickeys are only rated for 60MPH.
I have over 36k road miles on a set of these.
You need offroad content. Dint be a mall crawler with 43s
Haha I have a video on here of off-roading. I’ve been wheeling this rig since November of 2019…I just wasn’t doing the whole UA-cam thing so never filmed…but check me out on Instagram @1tongladiator and you can see a lot of wheeling content.
What kind of gear ratio do you have
5.38
Them RPMs are screaming
What did you balance with? Beads or weights?
Weights
Hey I’m having a bad vibration with mine. Balance beads and all. Thinking it’s a PSI issue. What PSI have you found works the best for you??
I recommend taking out the balance beads and have your tires balanced at a shop. I had wobble issues with my MTRs that I just couldn't solve (with beads), but after taking the beads out and finding a shop that could balance my 37s, they drove like a dream.
@@AffluentBlue I found 20 psi and removing the beads made them 10x better !
What did your average mpg look like
Well…not great haha. I average around 7.4mpg
Noisy!!
Plain and simple answer- Mickey Thompson tires are and were never meant to be used on hard pavement, asphalt, or road pack surface. They are designed for OFF ROAD USE ONLY!!! And from the 1970's I have never understood why people don't seem to understand that.
