I am already waiting for the title: i extended my O gauge layout around the first corner
I am waiting for the title: I move my 0 gauge layout outside.
haha coming soon hopefully!! xD
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Imagine Sam extends the track over the middle of his loft 😂
haha! That'd be the day! ;D
That does sound cool
Yeah
How would Sam move around the room if there’s track in the middle of the room, it would be cool though
@@SamsTrains o gauge without the 3rd rail? Nice.
Lovely O gauge layout, cool features on the wagons, the terrier look so cool and those wagons look very nice! I love that SR brown! Great!
Thanks a lot Davis - really glad you liked it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I have to say, Sam, I'm loving O Gauge! I like the level of detail, like the opening doors and especially the realistic couplings -- not something you see on smaller scale models. You definitely need a better coupling tool, though.
It's too bad you don't have much space for a bigger O layout, but I think if you just had another pair of points, so the loco could run around to the other end of the consist, that would open up a lot of shunting options.
Thanks very much John - me too - it's got something about it hasn't it? Yes it's a shame - maybe one day! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam Big move SCRAP the 00 you know you want to!
The joy in Sam's face at the start is really noticeable! Good to have some wagons, especially these. Nice find! Have you thought of trying weathering on any of your stock (OO or O)?
haha I was really excited by this one! I would love to try weathering! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
The coupling devices used here would have 2 loops one on each end of a turnbuckle like device that would take the slack out of thetrain. These are really nice models
Oooh! New rolling stock! Perfect fit for any railway! I do think that the shunting yard idea is good, would be nice! Though, I think you need more sets of points!
Thanks very much Caden - absolutely! Yeah that will be fun to try one day! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I saw this video were this guy made a cool model loco with real working suspension, it was actually steam powered, and it had a really detailed cab. I thought I'd share this with you because it looked really cool!
Oh wow that sounds superb - I'd love to see that one!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I must tell you a story.Your shelf like track reminds me of years ago somebody gave me an o gauge steam engine, can’t remember type or brand ,r/s and track. While my wife was away I constructed a shelf like track that started at my lounge chair ,went around the room ,drilled a tunnel through to the kitchen to the fridge with the idea that it would carry a can of beer back to me on a modified flat car.Amazingly it worked(slowly). However the missus was not impressed and wouldn’t play the game of loading the train. Shortly after I was divorced and I could never see why.🍺🚂
haha that sounds such a good idea - I think sometimes these women don't know a good idea when they see them! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hey Sam, as usual an amazing video, really enjoyed :D! Are you planning to make a full layout of O gauge? It would be fantastic to see! Love your vids as usual from Poland!
Thanks so much mate, I won't get a full circuit into the room I don't think :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Just like the shunting poles we used on BR to couple coal wagons we had a pig tale hook on the end of a pole made out of hickory so it would be flexible.
Another awesome video and those wagons look amazing
If you do upgrade your O gauge railway are you gonna make it bigger like your ho scale railway?
Thanks very much Peter - I don't know how much bigger, but there is an extension coming! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Dapol always packages things like there so special, something that’s unique of them
haha absolutely - it makes a difference I think! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam don’t ever stop making your brilliant amazing videos
Thanks so much mate!! :D
19:21 I love the photo of 6029 on your wall. It is one of my favourite Australia Garratts
Thank you!! That is an awesome photo!! :D
Finishing, the detail is a blessing of O Guage. A brake van would be nice. How about adding more track?
An amazing videos Sam. Hope you enjoy your new rolling stock. Can not wait to see more O gauge videos. Take care
Thanks very much Luke - I can't wait either!! :O
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Amazing review on the Dapol O gauge open wagons! :D
Thanks a lot! :D
I love the attention to detail with the O-Gauge models.
Ooh me too!! :D
@@SamsTrains Thanks for all you do.
Really nice rolling stock there Sam. I do like those opening side doors. What a super guage to work in, if you have the space. Many thanks.
Thanks very much Mike - me too - I agree! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam, enjoyed your review. I have seven of Dapol's O scale wagons in my collection, four obtained at their Open Day and all assembled by myself, with guidance of course. If you were not aware, they are manufactured at Chirk, not CPR.
Ahh sounds fantastic - thanks a lot for the info! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
hi
got some like that in 00 gauge with side opening flap - i have one full of pit props with a guy inside taking them and another guy on the platform passing them in through the flap
Ahh fantastic - that sounds awesome, what a great idea! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
your video you could use the trackmat up side down it would save finding a4 paper
Agreed if the O gauge (engines and rolling stock) are very interesting, joyfull and perfect for a garden railway
Yes indeed - such a lot of fun! :D
Great video! Question- SR narrow gauge was located in London to Southhampton? Where would one see and find the narrow gauge SR operate?
Thank! Train Builder
I'm not too sure about that mate - I don't know much about narrowgauge! ;D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Pretty cool wagons there, I've tried coupling 0 gauge wagons together as I know a guy who has an 0 gauge layout. Not the easiest thing in the world to do and I think you should definitely get the 0 gauge brake van at some point
Thanks a lot Cameron - yeah it's a bit fiddly - hopefully it'll get easier with time! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi sam, as a kid in the late 1950s I was keeping my dad company in his signal box during his 2pm to 10pm shift. Late evening was the usual time for the coal trains to come through on their way to the local power station. I clearly remember on one occasion counting 67 coal wagons going past. ( dad said he counte80 wagons regularly) So if you are considering replicating a coal train of 67 wagons in o gauge well, the cost would certainly be eye wateringly expensive!
haha it certainly would be - and I think I'd need a bigger loft ;)
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
We use to bring sixty 16 tonners from Toton to Shirebrook in the 70s behind two cl 20s.
@@tonyrobinson362 I'm not sure my dad was referring to 80 'empty' wagons being taken away from the power station, he also didn't mention whether it was a double headed train.
I remeber listening ( it was pitch black outside ) to the wagons going by; the clinking sounds they made as they rode over the rail joints. It seemed to go on forever!
Some very nice wagons! Have you tried adding three-link couplings to your Lima O gauge rolling stock that you got in the used lot?
Thanks a lot mate - I've not tried that, but I'm hoping to do that soon! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Good value when you consider the N and 00 gauge versions probably dont cost much less with fewer features too.
Have got one of these coming in the post, but do have the SR 5 plank wagon and those three link couplings should be loose and able to go at any angle within the holder, as for the wheels they should be like the other two, free to spin and my 5 plank is also loose either side but figured that was normal for O Gauge.
Might be worth using a bent out paperclip to use as a coupling aid, bend it out straight then make one end into a slight hook might help, will be what I'll be doing with my stuff... once I find a paperclip...
Great video again Sam!
~James
Ahh fantastic - hope you enjoy them! Yes I thought they should be too - not very good those! I'll definitely look into making a coupling aid!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Great video!! Loving the O gauge videos!
Glad you like them Brandon! :D
That was pretty cool to see. A pity about the couplings.
Also, am I right in guessing this' prerecorded? I could've swarn in your stream you extended the O-gauge laytout.
Thanks Patrick - yeah it was a shame about that! Yes this was done a while ago!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Have you thought about building some of the Parkside 0 gauge Kits?
As for the couplings, I would look to purchase some Brass drawbars (hooks) to replace the re-fitted drawbars you are given with the model.
I've never thought of that, but I'll look them up - thank you! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Loved the video Sam! By the way, has a loco, wagon, train pack, or set ever gotten 10/10.
Thanks so much mate - they have in previous years, but my ratings are a bit harsher these days!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
4:16 What a nice little feature it has! You sometimes tend to get special features with these larger scale models which is really nice. The opening features remind me of the 1:24 scale die-cast cars where they would have an opening hood, opening doors, and opening trunk. I wonder what other cool features we might get with some other O gauge products?
Yeah you're right - I love the special features!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Very fair review Sam. I think you need a brake van to go with those trucks. I have been filming my Terrier with the same trucks today.
Thanks a lot Phil - I think the brake van might have to be next! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
One of my tri ang truck (wagon) has unfolding sides. In oo gauge.
Cheers Travis
Ooh yeah I've seen some of those!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I just love the way UK rolling stock looks so elegant makes this yank wanna expand his model railway
Thanks mate, we are very lucky!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
When I woke up this morning, I thought your review was going to be on the Dapol Mineral Wagons. Maybe I wasn't reading correctly of your title of the video because of how tired I am. Hopefully you'll get to reviewing them soon but I believe you're going to do the Bachmann mineral wagons first.
Ahh no worries mate - I might try those some day!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Make yourself a coupling hook using a piece of wire, or a straightened paperclip, with a hook on the end then attach to an old biro or piece of dowel. This will save any frustration when coupling. I did this on my 4mm layout which used scale link couplings.
Thanks Peter - I did a video on the different types of O gauge coupling tools - check it out if you like! ;D
Happy New Year - Sam :)
Hopefully you can get an O gauge brake van soon! Which version are you planning to get?
I'm not certain yet - possibly a pill box! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam. Love the video. One little thing. Would you maybe consider putting a little fence up along the length of the track. I know from experience that if one wagon derails and goes off the side it could drag the rest down and pull the train onto the floor. As 0 gauge is rather pricey it would be a shame for your lovely engines to get damaged by the impact. I hope you're having a great day. Cheers
Thanks very much Rick! haha yes that's very true - I'll think about doing that!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam, do you check models to see if the wheels are in gauge out of the box? It's one of the first things I do with a new model.
I don't usually, but I might have to start now! xD
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
More of sams wagon reviews
Fabulous like train reviews!
Keep up with the reviews!
:D
12:13 sams infamous red van
Can you review a 0 gauge class 121 DMU?
Thanks so much mate!! :D
Sam, try taking a coffee or tea stirrer, such as you get in motorway services, drill a small hole in the end of it. Then, take a staple, place it in the hole and strengthen with glue if you need to. When you have that done, bend the staple into a hook shape and voila. One coupling hook.
Good idea Kevin - I'll try that!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I wonder how dapol are producing them, at my company we batch produce items, and our stuff can end up different depending on what's going on when we do that batch (would explain the inconsistency if they were different batches).
Yeah I'd like to know more too - it seems no two of these are the same, lol! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I love O gauge! The detail is incredible. I had no idea the Dapol O gauge open wagons have opening hatches! I wonder if most or if not all, of the ventilated vans have opening doors? Please purchase an O gauge ventilated van and brake van, as soon as possible.
Thanks a lot mate - I know - I was very impressed too! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hey Sam, have you ever tested your O gauge locos and rolling stock on your OO gauge layout?
haha nope - I don't think it'd work very well ;)
I see Future Sam with a full stop O Gauge Layout!! 😂😄👍👍
haha awesome - I'd love that!! :D
Great video Sam they look really nice
Thanks very much David! :D
The benefits of the large '0' Gauge system Sam, looks as though you're hooked!!
Thanks a lot Bob - I think I certainly am! ;D
The terrier looks very nice with those wagons
Thanks mate - I thought it did too! :D
Nice video, more o gauge, great! 👍
Thanks a lot Graff! :D
I do like the O gauge boxing better just mainly because it's it feels like more of a surprise when you open the boxes with the oo gauge you kind of already know what you getting can you when you open the box
The irony of of my train set on the British side is I actually used them kind of couplings
Great to hear that Ethan - yes I've felt that too - I guess they're still quite a novelty at the moment! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
As expensive as O gauge is, it does look amazing. Despite modelling OO, it is very tempting to get that Dapol 58xx 5811. The livery and scale look amazing.
Thanks a lot Dom - I've really been enjoying it in small quantities - I've been tempted too!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Lovely train (and wagons)-but what a faff. I admire your patience Sam. Having just gone the other way with a trial set up of 'N'Gauge I will certainly be sticking with '00'.
Thanks very much Simon - yes it's a faff - I'm hoping it'll get easier with time! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
are they not set in the clip top for transit purpose then when you open it up you unlink the three chains
Ahh interesting - I couldn't get them to fit though, I did try :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
ahhhhh you just gotta love dapol rolling stock so detailed what do you think Sam
Yeah I agree - very lovely!! :D
I always get worried with the O gauge layout because the sleepers of the front line dangle over the side, and there's an unsupported section of track. I wonder if the board could be made wider and two small bridges installed in the gap between the boards where the rails are unsupported.
Nah it's okay - as long as I'm careful, it's stable enough that nothing derails - but you're right - it's dodgy! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
"I can see the head" is that a live birth thing..? Still giggling
haha sorry about that Tim! xD
Sam'sTrains the troublesome trucks
Maybe you should paint one like a troublesome truck from ttte (like the bachmann H0 scale trucks)
If i have to guess whats up with the wheels i guess the one with a lot of play in them that the things that hold the wheel in place are to far appart and the one where the wheels are stiff i think that the things that hold the wheels on there are to close so i think there is a scaling issue where they make them
Yeah you're right - it could well be that!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Get a paper lip bend it out straight and curve one side I use that and its brilliant also if you get the money can you do the 0 Gauge sentinel from dapol
Great idea Liam - I'll do that! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
What happened to the extention you had on your O gauge during one of your live streams, and will there be another extension
I hadn't built it when I filmed this! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I have a 12 van train in OO scale, all with scale 3 link couplings..imagine the time it takes to assemble them!
Ahh that sounds amazing - but very fiddly! xD
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam, sorry for talking about something off topic, but have you ever been to the Severn Valley Railway? It is well worth a visit with a very wide variety of locos and rolling stock. By the way, another great video and they are some lovely, well detailed rolling stock there!
I never have been Charlie - though I'd absolutely love to visit! Glad you liked these! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Hi Sam, another good video. "0" gauge wagons! Yes, the chain links should be loose in the hooks and, they all looked rather distorted too. The wheels should have been more consistent although the details looked superb, especially the opening doors. Most of my wagons I built from "Parkside Dundas" which include everything you need except glue and paint, but including correct style couplings. My other wagons I fitted with "Peco" three link or instanters which are beautifully fitting. You will need to invest in two more buffer stops before you destroy your lovely Terrier by driving it on to the floor. You wouldn't want to do that, would you? To make the wagons look more realistic, you need to change two of their numbers. Your comment about the wagon looking large next to the Terrier, well, the Terrier is a very small 0-6-0 tank engine. You should see the full sized ones pulling a mark 1 coach, it dwarfs it. Keep well, regards Alan.
Thanks a lot Alan - thought so, quite disappointed in those! Hopefully their newer wagons will be much better than this!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Can you review some american lionel or mth o scale/gauge items?
2:22 Obviously, this isn't a 7F locomotive since Dapol never made an O gauge version of it. It would be cool if Dapol made a 7F locomotive although I'm not sure if they made any British locomotives in O gauge form that is a large tender locomotive?
OOh imagine an O gauge 7F?! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
13:54 The music and sound effects you're playing right now reminds me of those advertisements on UA-cam where it involves weird mobile apps such as spelling words and escaping through dungeons.
haha oh yeah!! xD
13:54 It must be a pain to couple them up together while your O gauge layout is on the top of your room. The chain link couplings are cool and realistic but, they can be quite tricky when coupling them up together.
Yes it's a pain - but very satisfying overall! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam, I have an idea for a running session. You could recreate trains from Train Sim World. I will list a few locos and Rolling stock featured in it.
Northern Trans-Pennine
Locos: Class 08, Class 40, Class 45, Class 47
Rolling Stock: Intercity Coaches, Oil Tankers, 12t Vent Vans
Units: Class 101
Tees Valley Line
Locos: Class 08, Class 31, Class 37
Rolling Stock: Cement tankers, Steel wagons, Coal hoppers
Units: Class 101
Note: The Class 31 also pulls the class 101 in a few services
Reading - London Paddington
Locos: Class 43 HST, Class 66
Rolling Stock: Container Flat wagons, coal hoppers
West Somerset Railway
Locos: Class 08, Class 09, Class 31, Class 33, Class 52 "Warship", Class 47
Rolling Stock: Chocolate and Cream coaches, Blood and Custard Coaches
East Coastway
Locos: Class 66
Rolling Stock: Aggregate Open Wagons
Note: There are no Brakevans on the game
That sounds awesome - great idea mate!! :D
If you got another couple of points, you could have a runaround loop. It wouldn't take up anymore space, and you'd be able to do more things, like run around the train.
Yeah you're right - that might be fun - but you'd still need space for that :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains you wouldn't need any more space, look at some run around loop track plans. I've done it lots of times, you just use less straight track.
Hi Sam, I'm liking the O gauge stuff especially that Terrier. I have a suggestion that you might/might not like 🙂 how about adding another pair of points on the left of the line so that you have a passing loop and then you could run your engines around one end of the train to the other, anyway it's just a suggestion and i have been a big fan of your channel for a few years now. Top job Sam keep it up 👍
Thanks a lot Darryl, I am going to look into adding more points, maybe a passing loop would be fun!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
The wheel running variation could be caused by underframe warping. A quick check with verniers across the frame axle boxes would show it up. 😷
Very interesting Alan - I'll check this!
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I was asking for a long time that what train or locomotive sud I buy.
Also I love your videos.😀
Check out some reviews - it all depends on what you like! Thanks so much mate! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Do you plan on expanding your O Gauge Layout any further? Also, if there is one O Gauge loco that you really want, what would that be? I really liked the video!
Yes! I have a small expansion planned! Ooh maybe a super detailed tender engine of some kind?? :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam, Apart from the little fault's , Very smart , nice one, All the Best Brian 🤗
Thanks a lot Brian, glad you liked them too! :D
cheers,
Sam :)
love your content and keep up the good work :D
Thanks very much Dan! :D
Are you going to be getting the O gauge 3F Jinty or a O gauge 14xx or a O gauge 20T brake van
And outstanding review from LBSC Studios James McKnight
I'd absolutely love those James - hopefully one day! :D
Cheers,
Sam :)
Fun fact about the Thomas props they used gauge 1 models which is similar to O gauge.
I did hear that - that's very cool! :D
Merry Christmas - Sam :)
Hope your ok sam
I have painted my port and built the wall and steps just need to lay my track
Hope you are too Lewis - ooh that sounds exciting - good luck! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I think I remember seeing 'O gauge three link coupling' as a task on 'The Krypton Factor' many years ago...😆😆😆
haha!! xD
Seems it is not only with OO gauge that Dapol had issues with couplings... Last bad thing to say about them, the OO tension lock they use are especially made from a abnormally brittle plastic, I had crushed half a dozen of them (and don't care because I want Kadees instead).
Anyway, if they change this point, those wagon would be a must-have for an O scale layout.
haha very true - they can't seem to get them right! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi again Sam you will have to make a hook from a pice of stif wire just bend the wire into a hook the atach it to a torch very easy to do Anthony
Good idea Anthony, I'm going to try doing that in a video! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Awesome video today Sam beautiful wagons and I am getting a mehano train set this Sunday
Thanks a lot James - ooh fantastic - hope you enjoy it! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Sam'sTrains I sure will
That's a nice challenge to see if the O gauge Terrier can shunt the 3 wagons along with that red box van! When it comes to O gauge models, they're just fun to have! :D
Thanks mate - yes I thought it was fun! :D
Nice, you should fit three links to you old Lima stock a well getting rid of the oversized N gauge ones they have, and you can use the lot then. Oh all the chain links should move freely you'll soon get the hang of them I'm sure. Think that's hard try OO gauge ones.
You're right Rob - I've certainly thought of doing that! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Good old fashioned fun sam can't beat it , nice wagons was gutted for you when I saw the issues, not bad for 27 quid 👍
Thanks so much mate - yeah they were a nuisance weren't they? :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I seem to remember back in the 60's that 3 link couplings hang vertically and are blackish not shiny, small fail really.
Thanks Peter - I thought as much - not impressed with that :(
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Did you do a review of the red O gauge wagon?
Good idea! It's not right nice up close though! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Dapol do like to include working doors and hatches on their O Gauge items. Keep an eye out for removable cab roofs held on by magnets on the Paniers and 14xx locos. Makes it so much easier to add your own crew minatures. Still enjoying the videos Sam, top stuff ;)
Yeah I've noticed that - I love them too, very awesome!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
i have a video idea: build a train model kit. like one of those plastic ones ghat you can paint and glue together and that fun stuff. they can't be used on the railway, but if you get one that's in HO scale you could display it on the track, what do you think?
Thanks very much for the idea Patrick - I might take you up on that one! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
For couplings use loom bands hooks
Ooh great idea!! :D
The wagons are AMAZING
I thought so too - thank you!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hey Sam, which country's steam locomotives do you think are prettier? Early American locomotives (late 1800s) or 20th century British steam locomotives?
20th century britain
Ooh that's very tricky - I'd have to choose British!! ;D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
I might anger some purists, but I fancy the Flying Scotsman when it was here in the US of A. I kinda like the look of the loco with the American items.
Hi Sam looks like you have an older stile wagonyou will find that the cuplings will brack and the buffers to they have made sum inpovements with there wagons but still do need inprving to them the cupling bar that hould thr change will braick you will ned to replace them Anthony
Glad to hear that Anthony - I'll have to try some more modern ones! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
@@SamsTrains it would be more up to date ones that dapole make now
I agree, bent paperclip for coupling
Great idea! I'm going to do a video testing different methods! xD
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam, hope you are safe, just asking If you can make a vid about cheapest wagons you have because I nearly have any and I want to know where to get some cheap ones
Hope you are too Toby - that sounds a good idea, I could try that! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
(OO gauge)
The next 0 gauge locomotive and rolling stock you need to test is the GWR 14xx or Pannier tank and the GWR autocoach. Plus I think you need a bigger layout, maybe outdoors🤔
I would absolutely love to try those!! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
Hi Sam,
When you buy an Acme wagon you get sprung buffers, astonishing Interieur detail and brass turned bearings in H0 ;)
Nice video, I really like the 0 gauge stuff.
Cheers.
That's awesome - I'll have to look into those! :D
Thanks for watching - Sam :)
