Shara Banks i honestly tried, but i just can't. there's tyrion lannister (GoT), kublai khan (marco polo), ford (westworld), walter white (breaking bad), maybe the punisher (daredevil), but they aren't as great as ragnar. honestly, i grew to despise every moment on vikings that doesn't have ragnar (with the exception of bjorn and some ivar scenes). im expecting great things from ivar, though.

No character has ever impacted me in a story like Ragnar. His ambition, his development, and his philosophy are all stunning to watch throughout the series. Travis Fimmel deserves an immense amount of praise for the passion and aura he brought to the character. You can see it in those striking eyes of his. There are many incredibly well written and performed characters, but Ragnar just feels special. I don’t think there will ever be a character quite like him again.
I love the fact that after all the ups and downs, he wished he'd never left his farm and Lagertha...
Achilles played by Brad Pitt was awesome too
Lost his young daughter
Betrayed by his brother (several times)
Betrayed by Floki
Betrayed by his own Jarl
Betrayed by his own King
Betrayed by the other king while wanting peace and some land for his people
Lost his best and most loyal friends
His beloved wife and son leaved him (his own mistake but he truly regrets it)
And in the end he died alone. Far away from his people and under torture.
Athelstan never betrayed him, Ragnar knew that, that's why he loved and trusted him. In the end he wore both the Odin bangal and the Jesus cross because he was the first one to see a friend for who he was and not what he believed in. He honoured his beloved athelstan, and he loved his best friend Floki. He was truly a pioneer
I don't think, floki betrayed him. Floki always loved him.

@@joseadegbemi7723 I know that buddy, but politically he never betrayed Ragnar. This is only because floki is so obsessed and crazy over gods. And this show tried to show us the hollowness of blind faith over Gods. How funny the matter is that a Christian thinks that Vikings are evil and A Vikings thinks that Christians are evil and insult to their gods. We can see this hatreds in our daily life also. And u can see that gradually Ragnar came out from such stupid things as he no more care about any gods
"I hope that someday our gods can become friends" such a simple sentence, but with a great meaning.
There's so many small simple sayings in this show with Great meaning! Right now the way floki has found the cross is symbolic of how Iceland was first colonised by heathens, there was a lot of murder within the community until finally they turned to Christianity (floki finding the cross I'm guessing he's gonna turn) and became a peaceful nation
Also Ragnars speech when he was with the blind man. "I fashioned my own death not you not the gods. Faith is just an excuse for people use to make decisions they are too afraid to make themselves" sooo much meaning behind that!

Nah it was great but when Ragnar died it went downhill. Shows like Better Call Saul that starts great and ends great beginning to end are far superior than Vikings who lost in quality after Ragnar's death. What I noticed is that the sons of Ragnar tried to replicate Ragnar far too hard it felt fake in their demeanor and how they acted.
I get it! I cried my eyes on this edit
@@Nomilh They were his sons and its interesting to me how each one of them picked up something from their fathers personality, Ubbe was adventurous, Ivar was stubborn but determined, Hvitserk got addicted to drugs like him and Bjorn was respected and look upon to like Ragnar. Its like Ragnars personality split and separated in his sons and it lived through them a bit.
Even sigurd that just died reminds me of ragnars life curse and kinda represents it

I have watched this countless times, this is a true masterpiece. The ideology of Ragnar is captured perfectly. He is a man who took everything that was given to him and more, he made the world exactly how he decided it would be. He conquered, ruled and empowered everything he believed in, he was conflicted in life and in death. In which is the struggle of life everyone is overcome with. It is tragic and beautiful.

@@Fabse-dk1ix yeah also the rope broke when he tried to hang himself around all the ravens
Fabse 1997 it wasn’t true. If you listen to what the seer says. He said you’ll died the day when a blind man sees you. He didnt died that day a blind man sees him. He died the day after. So technically the seer is partially right.
AAMashups *facepalm*
the meaning of this conversation is pure sadness, and betrayal: The gods didn't choose the death of Ragnar, but Ragnar chose it for his sons to avenge him, as it was the only reason to Kattegat to avenge son of king Egbert treason to Ragnar, as nobody wanted to go with Ragnar and Ivar, he knew his death would be the only reason to kill England. This means this was not any god idea, but Ragnar, he died to snakes of king Aelle because Ragnar did believe that would happen, but it was not God idea, the seer explains that is not Gods idea but one believes in oneself that becomes true; the seer proceeds to explain that he only gives meaning to peoples lives, but he doesn't tell always the truth unless you believe that's what going to happen as we know, Ragnar did not support the idea of one god, then the whole meaning of the conversation is that no matter what God chooses to us if we believe in ourselves we can alter what God has for us, I believe Ragnar is feeling sad for this, as he realized he didn't have to die this way, but he has no problem in accepting this death, he is not giving up on the plan he is a legend, after all, very emotional moment.
I'm at a loss for words. Ragnar is played so well, the gestures and facial expressions are beyond incredible. The sentences he speaks are all perfectly chosen in the perfect tone, you really look forward to every scene you see him in. Is this Travis acting or just character writing at its best?
I would pay a lot to be able to experience the feeling of watching this masterpiece for the first time again...
i think he is one of the best actors in our days
Dimi Vlassis He was a fairly successful model before Vikings. So glad he made it to the screen.
Dimi Vlassis he's Australian his impossible to kill

DAZZA Literally just said this and read your comment after. Great minds think alike
you bet he is
He was the perfect combination of flaws and flawlessness...he was the epitome of what it means to be a human. He was a broken man but never stopped caring about the important things
Crying watching this now. Wtf. I’m so sad the show is over. But omg. What an absolute masterpiece of television. Every thing about the show was just flawless. I love it. Ugh.
I love vikings so much
I feel like i lost someone close to me
PcChz 11 So do I.😪

Exactly my feelings ! Oh Ragnar... ❤️
Me too 😭💔💔
Same 😢
I feel so old when I was young I had the passion to win. man this always gets me.
His performance still captivates me til this day and I often reflect on how epic, sad, and moving he was!
Best character ever
"What cities and Gods are over there”
Ragnar was already so smart
Oh dear lord, I thought I had prepared myself for his death, but the episode broke me, and so did this video. Ragnar truly was an extraordinary character! With all the accomplishments and setbacks, his development has been a pleasure to watch over the seasons, and he is without a doubt one of the best characters ever.
And this video...there's not much you can say really, everybody knows what you're capable of, and I could write an essay on every single one of your videos, but I'm just going to rewatch it again instead, over and over and over, and enjoy all the emotions Ragnar and this video gives me. I ache from his loss. Vikings will never be the same. Truly, thank you.
There is nothing that can console me now... I am changed...
Do not weep the death of a Viking, rejoice that he lived a full life and he now drinks in the Halls of Valhalla, with his fallen Brothers and kin...
+PeteFoxx Ragnar dead as atheist
Cassie A. ...exactly my words..for some reason I got attached waay to much to this actor/character. ..I have days or maybe weeks that I haven't recover yet for this loss.
Cassie A. Aye well said.... Though he was an actor in a TV series or a hero of the sagas I've grown so attached to him over the past four seasons I feel I lost an extremely important person in my life, who will I wait for to come visit me every week now? who will bring me joy or pick me up when I'm feeling down (don't get me wrong I have normal healthy real life relationships be it my wife, child friends & family) but as crazy as it sounds I feel I lost someone very close to me (never experienced that from any TV shows or movies EVER it is so bizarre) though I don't lament his death for the valkeryies with be taking him swiftly to the wide open doors of Valhalla!!! HAIL O RAGNAR!!! FYI I can't believe the emotions I'm feeling while writing this
Ragnar is so perfected in vikings so successful
This makes me cry for my ancestors.
