Hi Rick, great videos as always. Was wondering if you could tell me if you’re still doing a full bond or are you using tape and glue? If so, which tape and glue do you use, how long do you get with the products? Thank you 😊
Hi there, you can take a look to Rick's video attaching the hair system ua-cam.com/video/H4h5FWI7DDE/v-deo.html He usually uses Ultra Hold glue, and keep it on around 1 week, even though the adhesive can hold up to 3 weeks. Ultra hold link: www.superhairpieces.com/ultra-hold-glue-3-4oz/
Hi, I use Walker ultra hold adhesive. Re install every Thursday like clockwork. Takes me ten minutes at the most. I like the feel,of a fresh attachment.
Curious how you trim your hair and the hair from the hair piece in the back. Whenever I have noticed a hair piece, it was either the back did not blend with the natural hair in texture, or the front hairline was too definite of a line going across the front. How do you handle those two issues? The back especially since doing it yourself would seem almost impossible.
Best thing to use rather than a regular marker is a DRY-Erase marker. It wipes off easily. I also use small shears and only use the very tip of the shears when cutting the base so you you don’t cut any of the hair off.
Hi Rick - thanks so much for doing all of this excellent work to inform us newbies on just how it's done - your hair looks fantastic! As I'm about to take the plunge and get a system of my own going - how do you choose the correct color to order your system correctly from Superhairpieces? Do you send them a sample of your side hair, or...? Thanks for any tips on this. Would also love some guidance on how to control the density when ordering the system as well. I'm an almost-60 year old man that wore Hair Club for Men in the late 80's, and my goodness - how things have advanced in this technology! Looking forward to embracing these new hair systems!
Hi there, we would recommend doing an online consultation with one of our hair system experts to help you determine the right color and density for you. You can book one here www.superhairpieces.com/online-professional-hair-consultant-for-hairpieces/ Otherwise, ordering a color ring is the best way to determine a color match www.superhairpieces.com/mens-color-ring/
Try using a oil or wax pencil like they use to mark sewing items. It can be removed using soap & water. or even rubbing alcohol. Find it at your Walmart sewing section
Rick, thanks for the video. Good stuff man. Question, I have a unit and the hair is good but the color has oxidation to a small degree. Is there a rinse you’d recommend to help bring back the color? Thanks.
Hi there, while we can't answer for Rick, we can certainly offer our own expertise. 2 important questions before we can suggest anything: What color is the hair, and what color is it fading to? And is the hair all human hair, or do you have synthetic in there as well?
@@Superhairpieces original color is 1750, and it has turned more to a lighter brown. Human hair with the gray being synthetic. Unit is about 9 months old and density looks great, just the color has lightened. Don’t want to dye but was hoping there was a type of rinse to help darken it some. Thanks.

@rickdouglas5830 I'm not sure if you'll read this. I hope so. I'd say we are about the same age. You're a big inspiration to me. I like your wit along with your tutorials. I have a big beard because I have so little hair on my head. At 61, I was okay with the hairless head and big beard look. My son is 22 and lost his hair at 18. His mother wants him to have a transplant, however, he has very thin hair on the sides. I'm encouraging him to try a unit. I believe it would boost his confidence. His mother nays it and he will not do it. So I'm thinking if I try a unit and look 1/2 as good as you do he might take my lead. I'll try almost anything and most of the time it good. I have mastered coloring my beard and no one knows. (At least I don't think they know) 🤔. I'm good with cutting the front and a round the unit. However, cutting a style for the 1st time I wouldn't do. I'm sending my 18 year old daughter to beauty school so she can help men like us get our looks and confidence back. I told her she can make bank when the word gets out. Most men wouldn't trust themselves to cut a unit and install for the 1st time. So more men would probably try it out if they had help without the high cost of a Bosley. If I go this route I would like to make videos for men our age. Can you do a video concerating on the name of the system, color,% of thickness, how long does your system last, etc. You may have done a video on this topic and I might of missed it. Keep making videos I enjoy watching them. Much luck. 👊
I’m a professional hairstylist and I wish you would have showed more of you cutting the hair and is this a thin skin poly unit? And how did you attach the unit to the Styrofoam head when you were cutting it because I was under the impression that you cannot put pins in it he Poly
Hi there, this is an ultra thin skin system. Rick attaches the system to the styrofoam by pinning the parts of the poly that he will be cutting off. When cutting the actual hair, our stylists at the salon like to attach a thin skin system to the mannequin using a bit of tape to make sure it is secure, then just remove that tape with solvent when they are done.
I went back and looked at the video and Rick actually puts the unit back on the manikin and cuts it himself. Did he tape it when he put it back on the manikin to cut?
You're on the right track, however, you should use a #11 Exacto knife/blade. It gives much more precise control whilst cutting and is just as sharp as that clunky razor you're using now.
It depends on what you want out of your glue. If you are just looking for the longest hold time, the Walker's Ultra Hold is stronger than the ghost bond, but only by a little bit
Hey Rick! I'm a fan of yours! I just got my first piece from SuperHairpieces, but I've worn others. An important question of mine that I hope you can answer is, I want to cut in a mature looking, slightly receding hair line in my piece, a kind of widow's peak, if you will Many of the pieces I've gotten have a straight across, slightly curved hairline, more like a younger man. I'm an older man, by the way, your shaking the thing and sininging, "I wanna hold your hand." LOL. I totally got that. I wonder how many others do? Anyway how do you cut in the base so as to look more angled on the mature head? Do you understand what I mean? Thanks, Flint
While we can't speak for Rick, our suggestion would be to create the template of your head with the contour of hairline you would like to have. You can use a white marking pencil or something similar to mark onto your head where you would like the hairline to be and what shape you want it, then create your template to match. Then when you are cutting the hair system, all you have to do is follow the template!
@@Superhairpieces that’s the one I got but the hair like isn’t on point with the piece I received. The front hairs point forward and has caused me issues trying to pull the hair backwards. Thanks!
Getting the base cut prior to the system shipping adds extra time to the shipping process. Since Rick is confident in doing his own base cuts, he doesn't need to wait the extra time :)
I guess it's good to know how to do it. I just don't know why you would do it when the factory can do it for $15. Not only that, but if it's a thin skin, they can actually bevel the edge.
It shouldn't even be an option, they should just cut it off automatically straight from the factory, for free. Why would anyone want that excess anyway?
I don't mind the placement, but the hairline, at least in the video, looks too straight across. I think it would look a great deal more natural if there was some recession in the front contour. I also think that, in my opinion, the hairline ought to be of a much lower density.
I love this guys hair man. And Thank you for the tips!
