Madara could’ve been the final villain. It could represent the Senju & a representation of Uchiha redemption(Sasuke) defeating the Uchiha pain & hate(Madara). Since all the stuff happened was based off of Uchiha pain it takes an Uchiha with love & and a Senju to help to overcome that hate & move forward.
I would put a twist on this instead. Madara at this point is using Hashirama's cells, creating an artificial moment where Uchiha and Senju have come to work together. However, this bond isn't the same as an actual representation of a Senju and Uchiha working through their differences to break the cycle.

I wish the war arc had been less of people standing in open fields and lame throw backs, and instead be a gritty emotional battle street by street in the cities. Basing the battles more on World War 2 imagery showing the violent brutality of war. Thus, the focus could've been on the trauma and horror of war (what both Madara and Obito were trying to show), and then Naruto's resolve to overcome this hatred and trauma within himself would have been more monumental.
I think they also should've used story beats similar to what Attack on Titan did, in which literally anyone could die. They didn't have to get as dark as AOT did, but they should've embraced it nonetheless. Not using it is what I think is the biggest problem with the War Arc: *nobody dies.*

What I love about your content is how absolutely positive you are about everything. You always seem to find something positive to take away from stuff, and I really envy that. However though, I do feel like you're stretching a bit on some of this stuff. Looking for a thematic meaning to things that don't really have one. Or has one, but one that has been so god awfully executed that there's no sense in praising it. Take the eye example: So the idea here is that Obito giving Kakashi his sharingans, is a symbol of Kakashi throwing away his great burden? Because giving him those eyes was the ultimate symbol of forgiveness? There are so many problems with that. Firstly, Obito and Kakashi were already back on the same team working together before Obito died. Obito took a stake to the heart for Kakashi, surely that's a bit bigger than basically putting someone in your will? It's also why when he appears in Kakashi's mind, he mentions none of this stuff. He just says "go do my dream for me, and your nickname is Kakshi of the Sharingan so take these". Secondly, if it was about Kakashi's journey. The end of his journey in fact. The completion of his story act, isn't it kinda dumb that Obito is the one who actually does something? Kakashi is just forced to unlock something. If it was going to symbolize him finally putting his burden down, should he DO something? Maybe if he'd had the sharingan but never used it, him using it could be seen as a symbol or something. But that motherfucker's been spamming it since the Pain arc. I'm not saying that there's nothing deep in Naruto, and that there aren't hidden meanings and messages and points to the storyarcs and characters.But if you stare long enough at any flaw, you can twist it into being a good thing. Oh Madara got backstabbed and instadied after tanking mountain busters in base form, and being slapped around by Might Guy? Well that actually makes a lot of sense on the deeper level, because Madara was all about the complex, and in the end such simplicity became his downfall! Oh and his greatest fault was turning his back on everyone, and he got backstabbed! SYMBOLIZM!

You truly are a brilliant mind, & it's videos like these that strengthen my love & analytical skills for the Naruto series. Some of the things mentioned in this video were things I never even thought about; & personally, as an aspiring writer, I never even heard of the importance of intertwining the superficial & thematic appeal of a story. This opened my eyes more than I could've ever expected. Honestly, from a simple fan to an anime God, thank you.
Considering how many high rank ninjas were involved in the war arc. There could have been some amazing looking fight scenes. Fodder nonja could have been used to create multiple madara introduction like moments. The swordman ninjas could have been awsome for example, instead they were super lame with a lack of teamwork that doesn't even make sense considering their history

Yes. There were some exceptions like Madara’s fights or Kakashi against Obito, but most of the fights were boring (swordmen ninjas...). It was disappointing because Naruto had really some of the best fights in anime.

Markusmck24 Uchiha are op I don’t hate naruto, i really like it. I think that many fights in the war arc, in particular in the first halth, didn’t have the same appeal that other fights in the series had. I don’t even hate the war arc, there were a lot of moments that were some of my favourites in the whole series, but i think that some things could have been done better.
I'm going to be honest (if not blunt), Kishimoto could have done two things to make Kaguya more of a compelling final villain: 1) Kaguya would only be known and foreshadowed as "mother" by Black Zetsu (which was only known simply as Zetsu up to that point) right after he witnessed the entirety of the first Naruto v. Sasuke battle in the Final Valley, stating "Heh, looks like things are going to plan. It won't be long before your arrival, mother." before he disappears into the ground. It would be vague enough to keep the reader wondering who Zetsu and his "mother" was, along with the mystery of why Naruto and Sasuke were important in this presumed plan of his. 2) During the Akatsuki/Pain arc, have Zestu hype up Kaguya (still only known as "mother") to be this mysterious being that was believed to have "invented" chakra, but most info of her was lost. During this, Zetsu acts as though he doesn't know who "mother" is and wants to seek her out to fill a void in his heart, but in reality he knows that his mother is Kaguya is and is directly plotting everything to bring her back. Doing these two things a) makes Zetsu's "mother" mysterious and interesting to the viewer, and b) makes the viewer more suspicious of Zetsu and his actions; both of which thematically pays off when Hagaromo tells of his mother Kaguya being the precursor to all chakra in the world. This in turn makes the viewer assume Zetsu's mother is indeed Kaguya while also making the viewer aware that Zetsu is pulling the strings behind Madara's back, which allows the scene of Black Zetsu's betrayal to Madara that much more believable. But that's just my two cents on that matter.

Kaguya actually was mentioned LONG before her appearance. She was mentioned around the same time as the Sage of 6 Paths as the "mother of all chakra". I actually enjoyed her appearance quite a lot.
Fuck yes I've been salivating for this series since you announced it and you delivered! I've never hated the Naruto war arc like a lot of people seem to but there was always something off about it I couldn't quite put my finger on and I think you summed it up perfectly. I'd never really noticed that clear split between thematic and superficial elements but it definitely makes a lot of sense. Personally I also believe that the Kakashi vs Obito 1v1 fight in the Kamui dimension was also done perfectly. Thematically it was Kakashi fighting against the ghosts of his past, for Obito it was struggling to finally overcome and surpass the seemingly eternally superior and out of reach rival, and superficially using Kakashi to counter the kamui made sense and the fight was excellent eye candy. Love your work daddy Nux pls make more.
I would argue that Naruto and Kurama becoming friends also had the superficial and unsuperficial aspects on point. I personally love how Naruto understood the Biju and wanted 4 tails to be free and Kurama recognizing Naruto always proves his resolve with actions and that Naruto was the only one to say he wanted to help Kurama rather than guard against him. Then that freaking transformation...and then Kakashi mistaking Naruto for Minato because of his speed...ooooooof!
i'm just halfay through nthe videos but i have to really disagree with you on the fact that the first part of the war had nothing thematic in it. One of the main theme in Naruto, from the beginning, was that Ninjas were treated like tools and not humans, and that's one of the thing that cause all the suffering in Naruto's world. The whole point of the Edo Tensei is to have ninjas being literally tools since they can't control what they do, against human ninjas, who fights for the ones they love, for exemple, during the fight between Kakashi and Edo tensei Haku and zabuza, we see Zabuza cutting through puppet Haku without hesitation to kill Kakashi, something he could not do in the Land of wave arc because he loved Haku. With this theme of ninjas being humans and not tolls add the theme of the new generation doing better than the previous one, and we see that through the fight Ino-Shija-CHo vs puppet Azuma. on the other hand, i really don't see how the second part wasn't great in terms of pure superficial cool fights : Madara vs Shinobi alliance, 4 Hokages + Naruto vs Obito and Madara, Gai vs Madara, and of course the final Naruto vs sasuke, all of these fights were great. I agree that this great ninja arc has problems but i really don't think it's near as bad or even as mediocre as a lot of people pretend it to be.
I believe he is talking about thematic purposes for each fight so that the various fights feel like it had meaning and impact. Some of them did, I guess(Gaara and his dad, for example). But most of them were just another bad guy to seal. The Ino-Shika-Cho one is also underwhelming because that is a very lazy theme that requires no thought or exploration, at least not in the way it was presented. It was pretty obvious too that we will get these matchups but that probably is just me. I agree there were very good fights in the latter half and that argument by Nux felt weak. I think he was only looking at the Kaguya fight. However, I also disagree with the themes he picked up during those conflicts because the execution of those themes were very poor from my experience.

Imagine if later in the future naruto was remade with no filler, less flashbacks, no plot holes, and for the most part a better executed War Arc. (Ik there is naruto Kai but that just cuts things out)

What I want to know is: What was Obito's plan? Remember that Kabuto was never a part of that plan. Obito's or rather Madara's orginal had no ninja zombies or even Madara. All they had was Zetus and let's be honest, the Zetus might as well have been cattle.
That, and Obito would have to fight off the entire Kage Rangers team, Naruto (and maybe sasuke if he still has a realization to change the world instead of destroy it), and the rest of the Shinobi. While Zetsu does have that spore f*ckery up their sleeve, they've never used it after the Five Kage Summit arc, so why would they use it now? Also, Obito wouldn't have the Jinchuriki paths, and Might Guy wouldn't have to use the Eighth Gate (unless Obito fuses with the Ten Tails), Kakashi would be able to still kamui attacks since Obito can only do it for 5 minutes at a time. And there wouldn't be any Akatsuki, so there goes the Deidara nuke spam option. Though, Obito would have his Perfect Susano'o. (maybe) And the chakra chains, and other stuff he might not have shown yet. but he'd be the only real threat of the war. Madara (who was apparently "weakened" by Edo Tensei) was able to thrash one third of the Shinobi Alliance (30,000 roughly), and wipe the floor with the Kage, while Naruto was dealing with the past Kages. You know what? how about we still give Obito Kabuto with his perfect sage mode. Even that stuff would only hold the alliance off for so long. Now that I think about it, why did Kabuto only get 1 wave of Kage? Why not all the past Kage he could wish for (except the Hos), that expand the lore and be a way better force than...Zabuza.
Without Kabuto it wouldn't even be a war. It would be a stomp. There is no way Obito would solo the entire Allied Shinobi Forces with just a bunch of fodder white Zetsu by his side.

He's weaker than his alive self. Oh, and if anyone argues that Live Madara had a Perfect Susano'o while the Edo didn't, and didn't have enough time to fully summon it during the war, If Live Madara had a Perfect Susano'o during his life, THERE WOULDN'T BE A THIRD SHINOBI WAR, Hashirama would have to go fully 101% All Out with his buddha trees, and yeah. No one would stop him. Not that early in the series, and Kotoamatsukami belongs to Shisui, who would've used it to stop the war had Danzo not killed him "for the village". But god dam I love Madara nonetheless.

I just finished watching it for the first time and I can say that I loved it. Sure there were a few plot holes, but it still incredibky fun to watch and the fight scenes were amazing. As for filler, I skipped half of it. A perk for binge watching ;-)

Most of the hate he got from his village was because of the kyuubi but most of this wouldn´t be exactly a problem if his identity as the son of a Hokage wasn´t kept a secret. Otherwise he probably would have been a similar case to Konohamaru (not exactly the same but very similar). Besides if his parents would´ve survived he still would want to be Hokage so, he would have the same goal and destiny anyway. It was always destined to follow that path and obtain his goal. That takes away most of his speeches about the value of effort. Specially with Neji. Great video by the way. I´m looking forward to see the next one.

So part 1 definitely presented Naruto as an underdog who had to get past all odds. It's just that the story did a disservice to the character by making him surpass most of these odds with the assistance of plot device fox and hax chakra levels.

Otherwise he would probably got treated in a similar way to konohamaru in his childhood (not exactly in the same way but still very similar). And even then, he was destined to basically become a legendary ninja since he was the son of a hokage, the reincarnation of a God, the kid of the legend, and the potencial carrier of the kyuubi thanks again to his mother´s lineage, so he wasn´t surpassing any odds, Naruto always have had an incredibly high chance of get what he wanted . His desire of becoming hokage was also destined to happen independent of the childhood he would´ve had. Naruto´s path was always the destiny of "THE CHOSEN ONE!!!" even if he always talks about hard work.

The black zetsu/kaguya team also works better that madara thematically because the series is about breaking the cycle of hate and zetsu is there claiming that he’s been orchestrating world events to keep it going. As opposed to madara who is just a result of this cycle. But you are right it could have been set up better
Really dumb filler placement, an absolutely pointless final villian made to replace the perfectly fine one we already had, random nerfing of the ten-tails when it was convenient so that our heroes could survive and lastly, the arc just dragged on for way too long. These are the problems I remember most about that arc.
When I was watching Naruto I loved the war arc and I never watched anything or anyone talking smack on it so what I’m saying is going in with a completely blank slate is the best
Ok so I absolutely love the way you explained this video, of how the war arc most of the time superficially and thematically dont work in tandem together, because at times it seems like superficially it was incredible, yet thematically it didn’t work and vice-versa. The problem is that you’re talking about the Naruto tv series from the point of view of Kakashi, as if he’s the person the whole series revolved around, and he’s the person who’s POV we got throughout the series. The problem is, he isn’t. I love kakashi, he’s my second favourite character in the whole series, and I know that you kinda talked about this in your kakashi video, but the problem is that you can’t explain the show from Kakashis point of view because his past and history and why he was so invested in team 7 isn’t explained or (I’d even go as far as to say) relevant until the last few arcs of Shippuden. Once it is explained, yes that is when Kakashi thematically becomes an even better character that we already was. But it dosnt happen until a few hundred episode into the series. I know that there’s always been an underlying tone of his past, and that Obito was name dropped in Naruto, but we didn’t know who he, or Rin were, and how they were all connected until later in shippuden. In fact until, the pain fight were kakashi met his dad, Kakashi was just a regular sensei and squad leader to us. For all we knew, the reason he was so he’ll bent on teaching them about teamwork and not abandoning his squad was because that’s the knowledge that was imparted in him by his superiors, and not because it was a life lesson that he learned from a life altering, horrifying moment that happened when he lost one of the most important people in the world to him. So while you have the right idea of trying to explain how different parts of the show work thematically, and not superficially, and other parts work superficially and not thematically, I don’t know if it’s the right execution to talk about it from Kakashis point of view. (Also side note, Fuck Black Zetsu, just fuck Black Zetsu, fuck black Zetsu... and fuck Kaguya too, I don’t care if it works thematically, i don’t care what explanation you come up with, I just can’t with those two characters. I will never be able to accept that final ending. I could accept every little bullshit that the war arc imparted on me, but I broke when I fucking saw Black Zetsu arm go through Madara... FUCKING MADARA. Too this day I still haven’t red or watched any of that battle against Kaguya. Nah, I can’t, Fuck Black Zetsu and Fuck Kaguya.)

I would put a twist on this instead. Madara at this point is using Hashirama's cells, creating an artificial moment where Uchiha and Senju have come to work together. However, this bond isn't the same as an actual representation of a Senju and Uchiha working through their differences to break the cycle.

I wish the war arc had been less of people standing in open fields and lame throw backs, and instead be a gritty emotional battle street by street in the cities. Basing the battles more on World War 2 imagery showing the violent brutality of war.
Thus, the focus could've been on the trauma and horror of war (what both Madara and Obito were trying to show), and then Naruto's resolve to overcome this hatred and trauma within himself would have been more monumental.
But we've already seen that throughout the series...
I think they also should've used story beats similar to what Attack on Titan did, in which literally anyone could die. They didn't have to get as dark as AOT did, but they should've embraced it nonetheless. Not using it is what I think is the biggest problem with the War Arc: *nobody dies.*

Couldn't this have been the thematic battle for the end game. There was no need for the Chakra Mother introduction.

What I love about your content is how absolutely positive you are about everything. You always seem to find something positive to take away from stuff, and I really envy that.
However though, I do feel like you're stretching a bit on some of this stuff. Looking for a thematic meaning to things that don't really have one. Or has one, but one that has been so god awfully executed that there's no sense in praising it.
Take the eye example:
So the idea here is that Obito giving Kakashi his sharingans, is a symbol of Kakashi throwing away his great burden? Because giving him those eyes was the ultimate symbol of forgiveness?
There are so many problems with that. Firstly, Obito and Kakashi were already back on the same team working together before Obito died. Obito took a stake to the heart for Kakashi, surely that's a bit bigger than basically putting someone in your will? It's also why when he appears in Kakashi's mind, he mentions none of this stuff. He just says "go do my dream for me, and your nickname is Kakshi of the Sharingan so take these".
Secondly, if it was about Kakashi's journey. The end of his journey in fact. The completion of his story act, isn't it kinda dumb that Obito is the one who actually does something? Kakashi is just forced to unlock something. If it was going to symbolize him finally putting his burden down, should he DO something? Maybe if he'd had the sharingan but never used it, him using it could be seen as a symbol or something. But that motherfucker's been spamming it since the Pain arc.
I'm not saying that there's nothing deep in Naruto, and that there aren't hidden meanings and messages and points to the storyarcs and characters.But if you stare long enough at any flaw, you can twist it into being a good thing.
Oh Madara got backstabbed and instadied after tanking mountain busters in base form, and being slapped around by Might Guy? Well that actually makes a lot of sense on the deeper level, because Madara was all about the complex, and in the end such simplicity became his downfall! Oh and his greatest fault was turning his back on everyone, and he got backstabbed! SYMBOLIZM!

Mr. Taku, I've been watching your videos for a little over a couple of months, & man, I just want to say that I feel blessed that I've been gifted with the discovery of your glorious channel. You truly are a brilliant mind, & it's videos like these that strengthen my love & analytical skills for the Naruto series. Some of the things mentioned in this video were things I never even thought about; & personally, as an aspiring writer, I never even heard of the importance of intertwining the superficial & thematic appeal of a story. This opened my eyes more than I could've ever expected. Honestly, from a simple fan to an anime God, thank you.
I actually found a lot of the fights in the war arc to be pretty lame. Lack of COOL hand to hand combat or multiple stage fights
Considering how many high rank ninjas were involved in the war arc. There could have been some amazing looking fight scenes. Fodder nonja could have been used to create multiple madara introduction like moments. The swordman ninjas could have been awsome for example, instead they were super lame with a lack of teamwork that doesn't even make sense considering their history

Yes. There were some exceptions like Madara’s fights or Kakashi against Obito, but most of the fights were boring (swordmen ninjas...).
It was disappointing because Naruto had really some of the best fights in anime.

I don’t hate naruto, i really like it. I think that many fights in the war arc, in particular in the first halth, didn’t have the same appeal that other fights in the series had. I don’t even hate the war arc, there were a lot of moments that were some of my favourites in the whole series, but i think that some things could have been done better.

I'm going to be honest (if not blunt), Kishimoto could have done two things to make Kaguya more of a compelling final villain:
1) Kaguya would only be known and foreshadowed as "mother" by Black Zetsu (which was only known simply as Zetsu up to that point) right after he witnessed the entirety of the first Naruto v. Sasuke battle in the Final Valley, stating "Heh, looks like things are going to plan. It won't be long before your arrival, mother." before he disappears into the ground. It would be vague enough to keep the reader wondering who Zetsu and his "mother" was, along with the mystery of why Naruto and Sasuke were important in this presumed plan of his.
2) During the Akatsuki/Pain arc, have Zestu hype up Kaguya (still only known as "mother") to be this mysterious being that was believed to have "invented" chakra, but most info of her was lost. During this, Zetsu acts as though he doesn't know who "mother" is and wants to seek her out to fill a void in his heart, but in reality he knows that his mother is Kaguya is and is directly plotting everything to bring her back.
Doing these two things a) makes Zetsu's "mother" mysterious and interesting to the viewer, and b) makes the viewer more suspicious of Zetsu and his actions; both of which thematically pays off when Hagaromo tells of his mother Kaguya being the precursor to all chakra in the world. This in turn makes the viewer assume Zetsu's mother is indeed Kaguya while also making the viewer aware that Zetsu is pulling the strings behind Madara's back, which allows the scene of Black Zetsu's betrayal to Madara that much more believable.
But that's just my two cents on that matter.

@@gamabumda4196 By all means she shouldn't be able to reappear, considering she was sealed in one of her own dimensions. Unless an Otsutsuki clan member finds that specific dimension and can undo the Seals of the Sage of Six Paths, I doubt it could ever happen.

Kaguya actually was mentioned LONG before her appearance.
She was mentioned around the same time as the Sage of 6 Paths as the "mother of all chakra".
I actually enjoyed her appearance quite a lot.

Fuck yes I've been salivating for this series since you announced it and you delivered! I've never hated the Naruto war arc like a lot of people seem to but there was always something off about it I couldn't quite put my finger on and I think you summed it up perfectly. I'd never really noticed that clear split between thematic and superficial elements but it definitely makes a lot of sense. Personally I also believe that the Kakashi vs Obito 1v1 fight in the Kamui dimension was also done perfectly. Thematically it was Kakashi fighting against the ghosts of his past, for Obito it was struggling to finally overcome and surpass the seemingly eternally superior and out of reach rival, and superficially using Kakashi to counter the kamui made sense and the fight was excellent eye candy. Love your work daddy Nux pls make more.
I would argue that Naruto and Kurama becoming friends also had the superficial and unsuperficial aspects on point. I personally love how Naruto understood the Biju and wanted 4 tails to be free and Kurama recognizing Naruto always proves his resolve with actions and that Naruto was the only one to say he wanted to help Kurama rather than guard against him. Then that freaking transformation...and then Kakashi mistaking Naruto for Minato because of his speed...ooooooof!

i'm just halfay through nthe videos but i have to really disagree with you on the fact that the first part of the war had nothing thematic in it.
One of the main theme in Naruto, from the beginning, was that Ninjas were treated like tools and not humans, and that's one of the thing that cause all the suffering in Naruto's world. The whole point of the Edo Tensei is to have ninjas being literally tools since they can't control what they do, against human ninjas, who fights for the ones they love, for exemple, during the fight between Kakashi and Edo tensei Haku and zabuza, we see Zabuza cutting through puppet Haku without hesitation to kill Kakashi, something he could not do in the Land of wave arc because he loved Haku.
With this theme of ninjas being humans and not tolls add the theme of the new generation doing better than the previous one, and we see that through the fight Ino-Shija-CHo vs puppet Azuma.
on the other hand, i really don't see how the second part wasn't great in terms of pure superficial cool fights : Madara vs Shinobi alliance, 4 Hokages + Naruto vs Obito and Madara, Gai vs Madara, and of course the final Naruto vs sasuke, all of these fights were great.
I agree that this great ninja arc has problems but i really don't think it's near as bad or even as mediocre as a lot of people pretend it to be.
I believe he is talking about thematic purposes for each fight so that the various fights feel like it had meaning and impact. Some of them did, I guess(Gaara and his dad, for example). But most of them were just another bad guy to seal. The Ino-Shika-Cho one is also underwhelming because that is a very lazy theme that requires no thought or exploration, at least not in the way it was presented. It was pretty obvious too that we will get these matchups but that probably is just me.
I agree there were very good fights in the latter half and that argument by Nux felt weak. I think he was only looking at the Kaguya fight. However, I also disagree with the themes he picked up during those conflicts because the execution of those themes were very poor from my experience.
People that dislike the arc don't 'pretend' it's bad. They simply don't like it, that's all.

Imagine if later in the future naruto was remade with no filler, less flashbacks, no plot holes, and for the most part a better executed War Arc. (Ik there is naruto Kai but that just cuts things out)

What I want to know is: What was Obito's plan?
Remember that Kabuto was never a part of that plan. Obito's or rather Madara's orginal had no ninja zombies or even Madara. All they had was Zetus and let's be honest, the Zetus might as well have been cattle.
That, and Obito would have to fight off the entire Kage Rangers team, Naruto (and maybe sasuke if he still has a realization to change the world instead of destroy it), and the rest of the Shinobi. While Zetsu does have that spore f*ckery up their sleeve, they've never used it after the Five Kage Summit arc, so why would they use it now?
Also, Obito wouldn't have the Jinchuriki paths, and Might Guy wouldn't have to use the Eighth Gate (unless Obito fuses with the Ten Tails), Kakashi would be able to still kamui attacks since Obito can only do it for 5 minutes at a time. And there wouldn't be any Akatsuki, so there goes the Deidara nuke spam option.
Though, Obito would have his Perfect Susano'o. (maybe) And the chakra chains, and other stuff he might not have shown yet. but he'd be the only real threat of the war. Madara (who was apparently "weakened" by Edo Tensei) was able to thrash one third of the Shinobi Alliance (30,000 roughly), and wipe the floor with the Kage, while Naruto was dealing with the past Kages.
You know what? how about we still give Obito Kabuto with his perfect sage mode. Even that stuff would only hold the alliance off for so long.
Now that I think about it, why did Kabuto only get 1 wave of Kage?
Why not all the past Kage he could wish for (except the Hos), that expand the lore and be a way better force than...Zabuza.
Without Kabuto it wouldn't even be a war. It would be a stomp. There is no way Obito would solo the entire Allied Shinobi Forces with just a bunch of fodder white Zetsu by his side.

Oh, and if anyone argues that Live Madara had a Perfect Susano'o while the Edo didn't, and didn't have enough time to fully summon it during the war, If Live Madara had a Perfect Susano'o during his life, THERE WOULDN'T BE A THIRD SHINOBI WAR, Hashirama would have to go fully 101% All Out with his buddha trees, and yeah. No one would stop him. Not that early in the series, and Kotoamatsukami belongs to Shisui, who would've used it to stop the war had Danzo not killed him "for the village".
But god dam I love Madara nonetheless.

I really enjoyed this vid. Really shed some light onto one of Naruto's hated arcs. Naruto is a fantastic series but most ppl hate and can never give a clear answer as to why it sucks. Most of the hate he got from his village was because of the kyuubi but most of this wouldn´t be exactly a problem if his identity as the son of a Hokage wasn´t kept a secret. Otherwise he probably would have been a similar case to Konohamaru (not exactly the same but very similar). Besides if his parents would´ve survived he still would want to be Hokage so, he would have the same goal and destiny anyway. It was always destined to follow that path and obtain his goal. That takes away most of his speeches about the value of effort. Specially with Neji.

@@captaintre44 Except everything and everyone around him keeps saying how he can't become Hokage and someone like him doesn't deserve to be one. So part 1 definitely presented Naruto as an underdog who had to get past all odds. It's just that the story did a disservice to the character by making him surpass most of these odds with the assistance of plot device fox and hax chakra levels.
@@daemonspade8316 Like I said, the problem that I see is that the only reason why people treated him like that in his childhood was mainly because no one knew about his lineage as the son of the fourth Hokage.
Otherwise he would probably got treated in a similar way to konohamaru in his childhood (not exactly in the same way but still very similar). And even then, he was destined to basically become a legendary ninja since he was the son of a hokage, the reincarnation of a God, the kid of the legend, and the potencial carrier of the kyuubi thanks again to his mother´s lineage, so he wasn´t surpassing any odds, Naruto always have had an incredibly high chance of get what he wanted .
His desire of becoming hokage was also destined to happen independent of the childhood he would´ve had. Naruto´s path was always the destiny of "THE CHOSEN ONE!!!" even if he always talks about hard work.

The black zetsu/kaguya team also works better that madara thematically because the series is about breaking the cycle of hate and zetsu is there claiming that he’s been orchestrating world events to keep it going. As opposed to madara who is just a result of this cycle.

Really dumb filler placement, an absolutely pointless final villian made to replace the perfectly fine one we already had, random nerfing of the ten-tails when it was convenient so that our heroes could survive and lastly, the arc just dragged on for way too long. These are the problems I remember most about that arc.
When I was watching Naruto I loved the war arc and I never watched anything or anyone talking smack on it so what I’m saying is going in with a completely blank slate is the best

Ok so I absolutely love the way you explained this video, of how the war arc most of the time superficially and thematically dont work in tandem together, because at times it seems like superficially it was incredible, yet thematically it didn’t work and vice-versa. The problem is that you’re talking about the Naruto tv series from the point of view of Kakashi, as if he’s the person the whole series revolved around, and he’s the person who’s POV we got throughout the series. The problem is, he isn’t. I love kakashi, he’s my second favourite character in the whole series, and I know that you kinda talked about this in your kakashi video, but the problem is that you can’t explain the show from Kakashis point of view because his past and history and why he was so invested in team 7 isn’t explained or (I’d even go as far as to say) relevant until the last few arcs of Shippuden. Once it is explained, yes that is when Kakashi thematically becomes an even better character that we already was. But it dosnt happen until a few hundred episode into the series. I know that there’s always been an underlying tone of his past, and that Obito was name dropped in Naruto, but we didn’t know who he, or Rin were, and how they were all connected until later in shippuden. In fact until, the pain fight were kakashi met his dad, Kakashi was just a regular sensei and squad leader to us. For all we knew, the reason he was so he’ll bent on teaching them about teamwork and not abandoning his squad was because that’s the knowledge that was imparted in him by his superiors, and not because it was a life lesson that he learned from a life altering, horrifying moment that happened when he lost one of the most important people in the world to him. So while you have the right idea of trying to explain how different parts of the show work thematically, and not superficially, and other parts work superficially and not thematically, I don’t know if it’s the right execution to talk about it from Kakashis point of view. (Also side note, Fuck Black Zetsu, just fuck Black Zetsu, fuck black Zetsu... and fuck Kaguya too, I don’t care if it works thematically, i don’t care what explanation you come up with, I just can’t with those two characters. I will never be able to accept that final ending. I could accept every little bullshit that the war arc imparted on me, but I broke when I fucking saw Black Zetsu arm go through Madara... FUCKING MADARA. Too this day I still haven’t red or watched any of that battle against Kaguya. Nah, I can’t, Fuck Black Zetsu and Fuck Kaguya.)
