I've only seen a few pre-merger 70's games so it's probably unfair to generalize, but it does seem that the caliber of play improved when the ABA integrated into the NBA. It stands to reason given that it added many marquee players, and increased the competition for the fewer spots then open for pro players. But then the rapid expansion in the late 80's to 90's kinda counter that.
That ad for motorcycle jumping reminds you how insane that "sport" was. Seeing guys trying to cut in on to that Evel Knievel market share is kinda disturbing, looking back. The broadcasts of the jumps were like a combo of watching Russian Roulette and a (possible) snuff film. Strange times.....
To help historians with the odd women's hair styles, here's a little help. At 1.05.50 is the Toni Tennille, while at 1.42.05 is the Farrah Fawcett. The Dorothy Hamill was still just starting to catch on, so you're more likely to find that at the 76 World Series 🙃
At late in the first half the C's looked like a rec league team that had never played together. And when they then turned it over on the inbound pass(!) after a timeout(!!), Tommy's face probably turned as red as his pants in anger.
