The shift empty issue you were having was due to a recent change where the game recognizes whether pouches are full are empty and automatically adjusts the left click option accordingly

Yes! What an odd thing to change. It's nice not having to press shift anymore so I don't need my keyboard for RC, but it took me a while to get used to.
