This is what my Ermac ending would be like in my personal headcannon. Something more bittersweet than this one. And one where Sindel lives, too.
It begins with Jerrod feeling the other souls from the Living Forest. Only this time time, he doesn't lose control of Ermac. He maintains it by allowing the other souls to roam freely within him. He could then feel the souls of his mother and father in law Indira and Basil. As well as the souls of his brother in law Taven. But not his nephew Xandras. The late husband and son of Lindel, who had been killed in action during the Siege of Vaeternus after being conscripted into Outworld's military during the Vaeternian War that occurred pre-Jerrod's assassination.
We then cut to Jerrod holding hands with Sindel, Lindel, Mileena, and Kitana so they can all enter Ermac's collective consciousness. They all enter the Spirit Realm or Soul Realm, where the souls of the Living Forest reside within Ermac. Jerrod then reintroduces everyone to Basil, Indira, and Taven. Sindel and Lindel are happy to see their parents again. Kitana and Mileena rejoice in seeing their grandparents for the first time. Lindel tearfully reunites with her husband Taven. Mileena and Kitana are proud to see their uncle again as well. But Xandras is still missing from the picture. Everyone wonders where his soul had gone, and even Taven expected to be seeing Xandras alive with the rest of the surviving Royal Family. Lindel and the rest of the family wonder whether her son's soul is in the Netherrealm or if Xandras could still be alive out there somewhere.
The last part of the ending is of Ermac, with Taven temporarily possessing him and Lindel visiting the cells of Shao and Reiko in Lei Chen. The two men who purposely allowed Taven and Xandras to die under their command during the Vaeternian Siege and the ones who unfairly sacrificed the two of them with their unit, knowing well enough they wouldn't leave the battle alive. As part of their battle plan to win the Vaeternian War. Hence how Lindel had begrudged the general and his liuetenant for years since. Ermac's ending ends with Lindel asking Shao and Reiko the obvious: "Where is my son?"

Here are some Ermac intros of mine hinting at how Xandras is still alive and missing. With some relating to Basil and Indira...
Ermac: Only Taven's soul resides within us.
Lindel: Then where is Xandras's? Where's my son?!
Ermac: You can still join your husband's soul.
Lindel: Not while my son's soul is vacant.
Lindel: Any words from Mother and Father?
Ermac: Basil and Indira are proud of their daughters.
Sindel: How is it that Taven is there, but my nephew is not?
Ermac: The absence of his soul beyond us.
Sindel: Do my parents think I've been the best empress?
Ermac: They could not have asked for a better firstborn.
Kitana: Cousin Xandras had been absent this whole time?!
Ermac: Only your Uncle Taven resides within us.
Kitana: What do my grandparents say about me and Mileena?
Ermac: They wish they lived to see their granddaughters born.
Ermac: There is no Xandras. There is only Taven.
Mileena: By Argus, that is not possible.
Mileena: How do my grandparents compare me to Mother?
Ermac: You and your mother are much alike.
Ermac: Lady Lindel questions her son's true fate.
General Shao: Why would she? He died in the Siege of Vaeternus.
Ermac: Lindel believes her son still lives.
Reiko: Her son is dead to me.
Liu Kang: I am blessed to see Basil and Indira at peace as well.
Ermac: Not while Jerrod reigned dominion.
Liu Kang: Is it true Xandras never died?
Ermac: Only that his soul is not within us.
Ermac: The Living Forest never had Xandras's soul.
Ashrah: The Netherrealm never had his soul either.
Li Mei: I still remember the days of Basil and Indira's reign.
Ermac: And they remember the days you were an Umgadi Hopeful.
Li Mei: If Xandras is not within you, then where is he?
Ermac: The answer is up to you.
Tanya: Does Jerrod know the leader of the Drahmin Society?
Ermac: Only that it was never Damashi.
Tanya: I find it hard to believe Xandras isn't with Taven.
Ermac: Believe what you will, Tanya.
Tanya: What am I to Emperor Basil and Empress Indira?
Ermac: A worthy successor to Li Mei.
Ermac: Lindel demands to know her son's real fate.
Nitara: I wouldn't know. I didn't fight in the war.
