  • Welcome! My name is Rhondda and I am the Designer and Blogger @oombawkadesigncrochet
    The Cambridge Poppy Project is hoping to collect 10,000 poppies this year to create community art projects of Remembrance to honour our Veterans.
    Citizens from Waterloo Region and beyond are encouraged to crochet (or knit) poppies during the spring of 2021 and to submit them to be included in the art installations.
    Today’s video tutorial demonstrates how to crochet The Cambridge Poppy Project pattern. This tutorial is available in both Right Handed and Left Handed Versions.

    You Will Need the Following Supplies
    Yarn: Yarnspirations. Caron One Pound. 453.6 g (16 oz) and 812 yds (742 m). 100% Acrylic. Medium Weight Yarn [4]. Machine washable and dryable.
    Colors: Scarlet (294010-10516) and Black (294010-10503).
    Yardage: 11 g (0.39 oz) and 20 yds (18 m) in total. Less than 1 g (2 yds) of black.
    Hook: 5 mm (H).
    Other Suitable Yarns:
    Red Heart Super Saver in Cherry Red and Black
    Bernat in Berry and Black.
    Finished Size:
    5.50 inches diameter
    Poppies submitted for this project should measure between 4 and 6 inches. It is ok if they are slightly larger, or smaller as gauge can vary depending on the yarn and hook you use.
    Gauge:
    2 rounds approximately 2.5 inches in diameter.

    Where u say repeat 2 more times ? Exactly what am I repeating ? From where to where? Ive tried to download your pattern however I cant reach the site

    For a button pin, I've made these using 2ply cotton and a 1.75mm hook, resulting in a poppy that is 5cm diameter. Simple pattern with a great effect.

    Can you use any worsted weight acrylic?

      Yes! I double checked with The Cambridge Poppy Project and any Medium Weight / Worsted Weight acrylic yarn in red and black will be fine :)

    To fast at the beginning. Where exactly do I put my hook when creating the first row.
