I saw this movie the day it came out! Other than my friends and I, there were two other people in the theater. However, time is the ultimate test, and this movie stands up.
I think the movie failed very hard financially. Imagine that the ticket sales brought 14m only at the end. Still 6 million till the budget of production. No marketing etz yet. Horrible. It was a really good movie. But I think the movie placed them onto the world, onto the common sight of the market. Which probably increased their sales and collected a lot of fans too. Think of later movies, that were watched just because he was in it. Like Rock School. Later they even released a game which EA published, and all of them did very well. They had very big concerts too. So overall I think it put them on the radar which is good.
Something happened with this movie at the release maybe internationally. Here in Spain I didn't know about it, and even after watching the opening of the movie (the song with Meat Loaf), I thought it was a normal video clip, not a movie. Fortunately the Internet brought all together and I could enjoy the movie and I think time will also give it the place it deserves

My dad was aged 50 when he died, 3 years ago, he never had the chance to meet his idols or even see them live. I want to fulfill his dreams for him. 2 years ago when they were in Amsterdam I saw them live for the first time and I cried. I fucking cried. for three days straight. I loved to show, I loved everything about it. But I was also very very sad because my dad was'nt there..

I lived rite behind the cinema and at closing time I slipped a quarter in the emergency exit door and went in with a good friend of mine and smoked doobie after doobie for both movies.. BEST movie experiences ever..

I loved this film and think it is so underestimated as a great musical. As much as the critics panned it during its release I think a new generation had discovered it and appreciates it more as a whole. When I saw it in the theatre it didn't fair well but to the fans of the band. I think the tide is turning and it will be remembered fondly. A few things about this movie: I was in 6th grade. Just got my footing in my musical tastes. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, etc. Found this movie and fell in love. I watched it so many times that I can close my eyes and watch it on the back of my eyelids. I blame it for my desire to seek out psychedelics, of which now I am an avid fan as well.
This movie forged my childhood, my big brother and I used to share a room as kids and we would jam and fall asleep to the Tenacious D album every night on our bunk bed, then in middle school i quoted the movie at least 2x a day
A nice trip down memory lane. I used to like this movie and the D a whole lot, and still do to an extent. It came out right before my 14th birthday so me, my twin brother, and a bunch of friends went to the theater to see it. Good times.
Tenacious D is my FAVORITE MOVIE of ALL TIME, my kids n I luv it and we watch it all the time. I use my 5.1 surround sound nd 2 big 12" speakers hooked up to a receiver and it's LOUD 🤘

A few things about this movie:
I was in 6th grade. Just got my footing in my musical tastes. Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera, etc.
Found this movie and fell in love. I watched it so many times that I can close my eyes and watch it on the back of my eyelids.
I blame it for my desire to seek out psychedelics, of which now I am an avid fan as well.
Masterpiece. Best musical ever made.
This and the south park movie: bigger longer and uncut.
This movie forged my childhood, my big brother and I used to share a room as kids and we would jam and fall asleep to the Tenacious D album every night on our bunk bed, then in middle school i quoted the movie at least 2x a day

A nice trip down memory lane. I used to like this movie and the D a whole lot, and still do to an extent. It came out right before my 14th birthday so me, my twin brother, and a bunch of friends went to the theater to see it. Good times.

Tenacious D is my FAVORITE MOVIE of ALL TIME, my kids n I luv it and we watch it all the time. I use my 5.1 surround sound nd 2 big 12" speakers hooked up to a receiver and it's LOUD 🤘

I LOVE this film. I'm a 51 year old school teacher and I adored it when it first came out and still do today. It feels like a love letter to the fans, all of the references, innuendos, nods, and attention to detail. Long Live the D! Trying to tickets to their show in Paris in May 2024.
Purely epic!! This and Spinal Tap are comedic rock masterpieces!
