I guess people often forget that in development of existing franchises developers will often use already existing models so they can already make a pre-build of the map layout and often replace this with models created afterwards
god i love how in-development cutscenes / cinematics look with the barebones posing lmao just seeing the zombies rotate to mimic them tacking people is funny as hell
As a game dev, all the mix-matched models thrown in there were just used as a quick pick to show the development build. No need to make new models for something that no one is really going to see. Certainly has some funny moments though, like seeing MOTD models in Origins and seeing Sal on the operating table lol

we got 100s of thousands of people all coming together to see what could've been, a decade later. amazing. activision dont know what they've done honestly. we're far from the golden era now lads
Why would you be sad about it? I think we are so fortunate they chose to keep it for BO3, there would be little to none graphical or gameplay improvement if they did because those games were only 2 years apart. Keeping chronicals for the next generation of consoles so we can see such great change on those beloved maps was such a good idea and make Chronicals even that much hyped.
@nightwing6287 It could've set the precendent to rerelease previous maps on every game with zombies. Basically, every year at the end, we could've got everything up till that point added in current zombies every year we had zombies.

I can see why they didn't drop it. If you ask me it was definitely too soon, especially since all the WAW maps were already released on BO1. I also dont think there was enough of a graphical upgrade between BO1 and BO2 to qualify as a remaster. Still wierd of them to scrap it so late in development though...
no they didnt care about that, treyarch made this and proposed this as a dlc to bo2 to activision but they declined cause they thought it would interfere with the playercount on cod ghosts
One of my thoughts on this is how much this would've affected BO3 and future games. Maybe this releasing would've caused them to be greenlit to make a game with just Zombies since there still would've been a need to bring remasters to a CoD on PS4/Xbox One.
They should just make a game for zombies called ZOMBIES: chronicled where its just current graphics and movement but the same general layouts and weapons of each map including remakes as their own separate versions. Just everything we've ever had and then everything we will have later if we do. You can even experiment with other modes like they did with overwatch or apex legends and such as like something that might be permanent and if it does well just add a whole story to it
new movement would be weird on old maps i think. slow the player down, give player less health, balance the zombies a bit then yeah. give us all the other shabang tho like researching augments n stuff

@@alihajali9218DLC 5 might have included WaW maps + Bo1 maps and the origin gameplay is nothing related to that unreleased DLC, it is just a pre alpha version that was used before DLC 4 ( aka origin ) got announced
@@alihajali9218 Basically, BO2 DLC 5 was going to be equivalent to what Zombies Chronicles was to BO3. A DLC solely of older maps ported. DLC5 for BO2 was never released in fear of it taking sales/players away from Ghosts, so we can only presume this unfinished DLC5 turned into ZC for BO3.
9:50 one thing I noticed that no one else is commenting on is that, when he buys Jugg the perk icon becomes grayed out after a few seconds. If you remember on transit, you could place a turbine next to a perk machine and buy the perk BEFORE turning on power. However, if the turbine was picked up or destroyed, the perk machine would be disabled again, and the perk icon would gray out. While in this state, you would retain the perk in your inventory, but would LOSE the effect of it until the power was restored. What I think is happening here is similar, as he technically bought Jugg before turning on power.
I think they are just placeholders, since it is a pre-alpha. It's common in game development to use assets that were already available, to pitch the idea/to expand on an established idea.
Honestly, probably for the best that we got it in bo3 instead of 2. Not only did we get a remastered origins, we also got the other maps in higher quality than bo2. Overall,i think its actually cool to know that at the time the developers actually cared about its community considering they still went ahead with the chronicles dlc with the original plan of remastering all the maps.
Fun fact for anyone who might be wondering why Origins stock characters are the MOTD cast and not the base victim cast. Jimmy and Jason were working on completely different projects and from the indication, their work wasn't connected. If you mod BO2, You can chance your PAP camo, and depending on what map you're in, you can't access some. For example, playing any of Jimmy's maps, you can't even mod in the MOTD or Origins PAP came because it doesn't exist in that asset pool. And vice versa, if you're on MOTD or Origins, you can't mod in the Tranzit camo
Wasn't there a whole thing with (primis) richtofen and the blood of the motd crew? I wonder if it was more than just a placeholder, or if there was a different plan.

In the original WAW maps, the Kar-98 was in the wallbuy spot for $200. They didn’t get far in re-rendering weapons from previous games, the balista is just there to act as a placeholder. 😂
I personally would’ve loved this so much at the time. At the same time I’m glad they waited until bo3 for zombies chronicles for the updated graphics. My preferred engine is bo2 so personally I think this would’ve been amazing especially if they decided to add grief to any of these maps.
I don't think it's a bad thing this never released, they did remaster all the WAW maps in the BO1 Moon DLC, so this would've been the 3rd game in a row with the same maps

I've talked to people who have pre-alpha BO4. And if you believe them, then there are semi-working Victis maps, developments for the Chaos story (one of these developments formed the basis of Firebase Z), and there is also a working campaign.
@ I knew about the cut campaign but it’s interesting to it was turned into fire base z, i remember watching a yt video that mentioned a lot of the cut content for bo4 like factions, multiplayer characters having there own weapon attachments and weapons and skins to unlock and much more it’s a dam shame what happened to bo4

Well no. They did the same thing in BO1 for WAW maps. The point of it was to run the old maps on the new engine with upgrades and quality of life additions for get a better user experience.
From what I heard the models and areas were already finished but due to Ghosts the DLC 5 was delayed. Then they had to update the maps again for Bo3 Zombie Chronicles.
I wish we got our own zombies standalone game. Campaign could be we have an actual storyline (and side stories) that correlate to all the maps already created and then we have (Classic Mode) round base zombies.

Thank god we got this in bo3. It would not have been nearly as good. bo2 feels clunky af. bo3 had a great foundation for zombies chronicles. Doesn't feel outdated even today. bo2 feels borderline unplayable now.
I remember the rumors of this back in the day. I am glad that we got a DLC 5 on BO3 instead of BO2. I think some of the maps lost their atmosphere, but they look spectacular even almost 10 years later.
Heyo, my buddy is a game developer and the reason for the lack of original 935 group is because so save time they work on the map and character models at the same time, so they had map done but character models not completed so to test the map they used what models they had. Same thing with a lot in this video.
I wish these remasters came out at the time. I have been playing Zombies since WAW but never had money for the DLCs and my first DLCs were on BO2. So if these came out i would have had more nostalgia for these maps.

I remember the rumors of this back in the day. I am glad that we got a DLC 5 on BO3 instead of BO2. I think some of the maps lost their atmosphere, but they look spectacular even almost 10 years later.

Heyo, my buddy is a game developer and the reason for the lack of original 935 group is because so save time they work on the map and character models at the same time, so they had map done but character models not completed so to test the map they used what models they had. Same thing with a lot in this video.

I would rather play this barebones/incomplete version of origins than any map on BO6. Classic zombies will always be superior.

I wish these remasters came out at the time. I have been playing Zombies since WAW but never had money for the DLCs and my first DLCs were on BO2. So if these came out i would have had more nostalgia for these maps.
