Phragmites are invasive, but Bulrushes are a native North America species, and should not be culled

phishinfool This is a process of restoration...removing non-native invasive plants and replacing them with a variety of native plants. This change from monotypic invasive plants to diverse native plants helps improve and maintain diversity of other organisms like birds and bugs. Leaving these, and other plants to overtake areas may cause other organisms to disappear for good.

In my area, most maintenance is required because there is an excess of nutrition in the water, primarily caused by agriculture. With that much plant goth and in consequence dead organic madder in the lake, all fish would die due to a lack of oxygen.
Another problem is, in nature if a lake is in bad condition many animals simply move to the next lake until it restores itself maybe 50 or 500 years later. In our modern world, there is often no alternative.
