Horses helped my autistic child surprisedly well, he became a lot more empathic, and 'connected'. Therapy with horses are not magical, but has shown us amazing outcomes!

    Very simple question
If an autistic child get rough with horse how does horse act? Will it become aggressive or will he know the child's ability to behave like this(rough)

That's a very good question. I have absolutely no idea if my thought is correct, but I at least want to share my perspective:
What I think of is dogs. They sometimes play-fight, and there's a difference between that and actual fighting. IN MY MIND, as long as the kid isn't actively trying to hurt the horse, the horse should be okay with it? I suggest doing research if you haven't already, as there's plenty of factors to consider, like trust. Horses play-fight as well, but it's important to know about their boundaries. What signs they display. Make sense?

It depends on the horse. Speaking from experience, if it is a trained therapy horse then he will know to stay calm when his rider becomes excited or upset.

I work at a equine assisted therapy center and if a child becomes too excited/upset or unstable on the horse and it’s affecting how they are riding we do an emergency dismount to get the child off the horse until they are okay to get back on! It’s a great question and before I started working there I would have had no idea either honestly!

Therapy horses are trained for therapy sessions and all kinds of reactions. So they will stay calm along with the soothing voice of the handler. If a horse starts acting aggressive or wierd the child gets off the horse to settle both the child and the horse and then gets back up and the session continues
