Maurice White produced this one, which made this stand out within the "Sgt. Pepper" soundtrack in the same way Elton John's "Pinball Wizard" (which had his own backing band and producer Gus Dudgeon) was the saving grace of the soundtrack to the film version of The Who's "Tommy." It really stands out in contrast to the paint-by-numbers carbon copy version of "Come Together" as by Aerosmith - which, like most of the rest of the soundtrack (save for this one), was produced by ex-Beatles producer George Martin. Thank G-d EWF stayed away from Martin!

I heard this version first because my mom loves Earth, Wind, & Fire, and was shook when I listened to Revolver for the first time and found out this was a cover. So good!
I feel The Beatles version was an homage to the Motown style which is especially evident in the vocal harmonies. Earth, Wind, and Fire had some inspiration from Motown as well. So it's beautiful to see how each band was influenced by Motown and came to their own conclusions with this song.

Al, Verdine, Phillip, Maurice, the Phenix Horns, etc, made their parts fit like a glove! No one is overplaying, and the combination of them all makes this, IMO, not only the greatest Beatles cover ever, but one of the greatest covers ever!

I was a kid when this song came out. I was surprised years later to find that it was a Beatles song. I think I definitely like Earth, Wind, and Fire's version better. The song reminds me of a fun and happy summer I had.
It really does make a big difference which version of a song you hear first especially when you are young: young impressions become really embedded. If anything I probably preferred the "Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers" version

EW&F did this song and there's an interview where Paul said that he was PROUD and JEALOUS at the same time because he knew they (EW&F) were gonna do a great job on this song. So you know something is good when the person who wrote the song is willing to step back and let someone else SHINE on their song without it being a major problem.

At first,i sort of shook my head and laughing when I picked it up at the record shop especially to see a group like them do a Beatles song…but when I got home I was bitterly mistaken. Very funny movie and great record! Live record shopping and glad I came across this little gem✌️
There are several decent covers on that album not just this song and Aerosmith's Come Together. Billy Preston's Get Back is very good, the Bee Gee's A Day In The Life was too. Steve Martin's goofy version of Maxwell Silver Hammer was entertaining if you like Steve Martin.
