@@audreynorthington5851 Thanks, I've been listening to EWF since I was a teenager in the late 7O's. Still love their music, they were the entry point to so many great artists.
I like this song but I don't like the way it was done over. When they put today's sound in it. It killed the song. Sorry I didn't like it redone this year.
Yes, and they actually won a grammy that year for best vocal performance on a song, largely because of that harmony at the end. Maurice said in his autobiography that he and Philip Bailey kind of improvised that vocal, and it almost sounded like a monastery chant.

Goose bumps! EWF's vocals give me goose bumps. The vocal harmonies and musical arrangements of this song are unlike any song--ever. My absolute favorite--forever.
Everything about this song sums up what is so amazing about their music, especially the late great Maurice White. The ending vocalization layered over those relaxed jazzy chords brings me to tears!
I bought it too and loved it, my musical tastes got progressively heavier . I was 13 when this came out by the time I was 15 I got into heavier stuff especially after I start lifting later in my teens and early twenties then it progressed from there but I still love earth wind and fire , that never went away or my love for the police.
My husband got me playing Devotion on his piano. I can remember singing Devotion in music class in elementary school. He was a grown man back then. He was 70 years old when he passed. I miss him so much. Looking forward to seeing him again in Heaven, where we can play Devotion together again 😢
@@olander666 Earth, Wind and Fire is the only group/band to own the greatest intro and ending to a song. The best intro? "In the Stone." What high school or college band did do "In the Stone?"
I love Earth Wind and Fire. Maybe the greatest R&B band ever. Nothing against the current music, but you can't compare with this priceless artistry. I would like to read Maurice White's Autobiography. He was from Chicago. Phillip Bailey was from Denver. This music is so inspiring and centering. Brilliant. Thank you for sharing your music on this planet during this incarnation, Maurice White and EWF.
Thank you, Morgan for sharing your thoughts on this song and the legendary Earth, Wind and Fire. I really love reading what people think and feel about this band. It gets me all emotional!
Earth, Wind and Fire is the best . My father went to be with the Lord on September the 7th. We used to listen to this song on the way to see my grandmother. Can't Hide Love was one of his favorite songs. It brings back memories of my favorite soldier. I love and miss you Daddy ❤️.
Please don't forget the superb Ralph Johnson and Larry Dunn.....brilliant musicians which helped bond Maurice White's tough, and timeless, regime together. They even had the incredible Ronnie Laws with them for a short period from the early 70s. RIP Maurice.
I have something against todays music if you want to call it that. It’s garbage. There really hasn’t been quality music for the last 20 years in my opinion.
One of, if not my favorite E,W&F cuts of all time! From the beginning, with that horn intro, through the fade out with the vocal harmony, and the horns! Today's music cannot, and will not compare! RIP Maurice and Fred White.
