Jake Shimabukuro single handedly changed the ukulele forever! All these people playing today pay homage to the guy. Plus he’s the most humble player ever.
Im with sangeeth on this one:-) Tbh Marco i find your 'reaction' video the only one so far (as far as I have seen of course) that is also instructive, thanks!
When you said that it's unusual to see her pick with her thumb and index finger, not in Hawai'i. The techniques that she is using is used by a lot of 'ukulele players in Hawai'i. I think that you need to look into the 'ukulele players as it doesn't that you are familiar with them. There are so many players that are fantastic but are not as well known outside the islands. 😊
This is an awesome type of video! I've noticed that as I get better I do this with songs I hear. So it's cool to watch you figure out songs too. Thank you so much! 💜
Love the video and also enjoying your playing too Marco … I literally have just taken up the ukulele, and purchased a Tenor Ukelele, so all this is way over my head at the moment, I never realised that the Ukulele was such a versatile instrument… thanks for your informative and really engaging videos. Steve U.K.
My favourite ukulele player....Marco Cirillo. You should try something like this but in your version with your tutorial and your explanation on why. I’m still impressed by you ✊👍
Yes please to more reaction videos especially for Toccata & Fugue by Tamaine. And a lesson? Thanks for your channel..so talented that you can arrange by ear. Amazing!
Hi Marco, first I’m a uke newbie and really enjoy your videos. I love that you watched this for the first time on camera, made it very fun. Yesss, they are awesome and 7 yrs later these young women really rock the ukulele. I agree with others, check out Taimane. Plus we all get to visit Hawaii virtually…
It's so amazing how you catch on this video like nothing! What at awesome talent you have! I wish to acquire someday! And thank you so much for your videos I've learned so much!😊
Thanks for your input I got a new view on it I though she was using her thumb for the speed strumming but i just realised she is strumming 2 strings with her index
Hi Please make 1 tutorial for bodysurfing...To play rhythms and riff by 1 person at same time...Please...Please...:)...I really wish to play atleast starting 1 minute part of it to begin with learning this in whole...
Almost didn't watch this after reading the "reacts to". Guess I've had enough of lazy UA-camrs making lazy content. Great descriptions of the technique, keep up the good work!
I just wish Honoka and Azita's video/audio was better! It was such a great performance, my wife and I want to learn it so bad. We aren't advanced enough. She got the intro picking though
This is really amazing, cant think of it but would love to learn it, dont know how... I am a newbie in Ukulele but so impressed that somehow want to climb the mountain in a day, so inspiring really. Can we have some guidance on how to move in this direction
I’ve been playing ukulele since 2017 and learned this song after 2 years of playing by watching the video he’s reacting to and taught myself by slowing down the speed and pausing it every now and then. It took and about a month to learn and a year to master but if you learn it which I highly recommend you do cause it’s just so fun to play, just keep playing it and practicing each time you pick up your uke and you’ll get better at the song as time passes on. I covered this song on my music channel Dawson Reid Music and it’s so fun to play.
At the beginning of this year, I saw an online ad from a really low-end ukulele manufacturer using this clip to hawk its $29.99 ukulele. Given that the ukes here are a Kamaka HF-3 (about $1,500.00) and a Kanile’a K-1 (also about $1,500.00), . . . it was not exactly an “apples to apples” comparison.
I agree. Some of these ads really try to manipulate the audience. Honestly, even if the ad was about the same ukes they play, you will still have to put in years of work to match the skill level. A great ukulele can help you improve faster. No doubt. However, you still have to put in the work. Of course, using this video to promote a cheap Uke is misleading ☀️🎸
Really insightful, Marco. You mentioned that you are also a guitarist. How about a video at some point aimed at guitar players crossing over to the uke?
Grazie! Really enjoyed this vid. Take a look at Kalei Gamiao. Modern Hawaiian player (somewhat understated?) with interesting technique and beautiful tone.
This is the video that made me want to get a uke and learn just to play this song! Can't find any good tutorials tho on how to play it so.. that sucks!
Found that, I am following your channel since 1 year with out subscribing you. So sorry for that. Subscribed.❤️ If you can make a tutorial on 'misirlou ' (Azita and Honoka). PLZZ.... 😊 Love from India ❤️
Sorry I learn that I should review my typing before I press sent … Not sure where the word “smell” came from lol Gosh. Can’t even recall what I was writing. Lol I was referring to ur new mic lol :) I love ur passion for ukulele. And watching this particular video makes me realize, I started too late and just won’t have the time or energy to become good hehe
yeah, there is another famous youtuber named Taimane, she can play ukulele like a super star.Another interesting bass player on youtube called Davie504(known as slapper),says that Ukulele is a mimic version bass, and it's weak(I wanted to slap on his face). Plus,Taimane has a special kind of ukulele,I don't know what type it is called,it has a double G string, which makes it sound unique when playing especially classical melodies
Yes that video is amazing! I love it as well, the girls are super cute and true virtuosi 😍. Wonder what types of ukuleles the used here? And hope they were able to monetize the video, it would be unfair if with 20mln + views and keeping up with the comments they were not paid at all. *** re reviews - I love Tamaine's Neptune Storm and curious about the difference between a 4-string 5-string uke.
If you get a chance, check out Jake Shimabukuro's song Dragon. He has been compared to as the "Jimmy Hendrix of Ukulele", he doesn't sing so me makes the uke sing for him.
Let me see, outside the obvious players that perform on a professional basis (Jake Shimabukuro, James Hill, Feng E...), I find that some non-professional players are really fun to watch and some have techniques I'd dream of being able to reproduce. For example, MusicalMylow for percussive playing (watch his video titled 'Stolen Dance Ukulele! (Gluten Free)' or the one for Teardrop by Massive Attack). There's a single video from this guy: John Dupra (Everybody Wants To Rule The World - Solo Ukulele) I wish I can eventually reach that level. But there's also so many talented 'regular' players I enjoy watching - and trying to understand what they are doing, many say they play without partitions : WS64 (ex: Drive), erivel and dozens more, mostly men, but fortunately more and more women. Many are asking you to watch Taimane, she's pretty much the only one I cannot stand, I find her exaggerated manners interfere with enjoying the music. Or maybe her long nails, I don't know! But even tough usually I find the videos 'xyz reacts to abc' useless, if you actually comment with your ukulele on hand and give a few insights on the techniques and/or chords being played, then that becomes a useful exercice. Take Care.
They play something Spanish so that’s why I put that in the title. I am Italian, if I play something Spanish I’ll have to say I play something Spanish ... even if I am Italian.

Type?? If your mean "size", they are tenor size. Brand? Kanilea.
Amazing talent of host and duo uke players. However, the speed they play at looks to be sped up. Perhaps it was played at a slower pace.
