In this Thailand Travel Vlog, we head to Koh Samet - the closest paradise island to Bangkok! You can get there in just a few short hours by taking a minibus to Rayong, Thailand plus a 15 minute speed boat! We had a 3 day weekend and decided the day of to change our plans and head to this gorgeous beach for the first time!
As it was so last minute we really didn't prepare much! When you arrive on the Koh Samet pier, you need to pay the national park fee (cash only) to enter the island, motorbike rentals are 400 baht/day all over the island (luckily it includes gas) which is the most we've paid for a bike in Thailand, and the island only has 3 ATMs ALL OF WHICH WERE BROKEN THE ENTIRE WEEKEND!!! 😱 Definitely make sure you take cash incase the same thing happens again! We were lucky we could use my Thai bank account still to pay for most things, however if we didn't have a Thai bank account we would've been in trouble!
Koh Samet (Koh Samed) is a small island. It's also very long. Right by the pier you can walk to many different restaurants, a 7 eleven, and a great beach! There are many other beaches you can get to either on a motorbike or by using one of the many songthaews. There was a cute little boardwalk area at the very bottom of the island.
Koh Samet is also cool at night! The entire beach transforms and is covered by beach chairs and bright lights. There are even fire shows on Koh Samet! We definitely recommend heading to this island is you're in Bangkok and you don't have much time to travel very far!

ถ้าคุณเดินจากท่าเรือ Speed Boat ที่ีรถมาส่งคุณไปประมาณ 300 เมตร คุณจะพบท่าเรือ High Speed Catamaran Ferry ซึ่งเรือลำใหญ่กว่า และถ้าเดินต่อไปอีกจะเจอกับเรือ Regular Speed ที่ราคาถูกกว่าครับ
ผมเคยไปพักที่โรงแรมทางทิศเหนือของเกาะชื่อว่า Samed Seaside Resort ที่นั่นเงียบสงบในวันธรรมดา คนไม่เยอะเหมือนทรายแก้ว
Yesss - we realized that about the different piers when we took the slow boat back! But that hotel sounds nice! 😍 we’ll definitely check it out if we make it back to Koh Samet! 😍

I will not recommend this island. Everything is too much expensive! It is known by most Thai that ไปเสม็ดเสร็จทุกราย (going to Samet, all you guys will be overcharged!). There are many tourist attractions in Rayong and Chanthaburi.
We also thought it was more expensive than most places we’ve been in Thailand 😭 we were so surprised that motorbikes were 400 everywhere on Koh Samet 😱

Yesss I think most people visiting Thailand plan on traveling far to get to nice beaches. Living in Bangkok it’s nice that Koh Samet is so much closer to the city!
I wholeheartedly recommend South of Koh Samet to anyone who values peace. It is lovely and secluded. My favorite is Ao wai.
That’s the beach we tried to go to before we stopped for lunch at Apache! At the top of the road it seemed like a private resort though. Luckily there were so many nice places all around Koh Samet! 😍

I'm Thai and frustrating to see you and friends come to Thailand and pay "farang" price. Motorbike is supposed to be $3 a day
We couldn’t find anywhere cheap to rent on Koh Samet 🥺 I think it was our most expensive motorbike rental our whole year and a half in Thailand 😱

Koh Samed is not national park. The 200 bath is scammed us. The hotels are too expensive in koh Samed. I remember few years back was good and cheap. I was thinking to go. But. Forget it. I don’t like paying too much. And the 200 bath national park is big joke.
We were also confused when we arrived as we didn't know we'd automatically be charged the national park fee once getting off the boat (luckily we had cash!) BUT Koh Samet's been listed as a national park since 1981. I agree tho - it was one of the more expensive places we traveled in our year and a half in Thailand!

Mmm we didn’t work when we were there, but we had cell service and wifi at the hotel. I’d assume the internet would be decent as it’s not too far from the mainland ❤️

Hi. Nice video. I remember going to Samet in the mid-80s. Nothing there. It was great! Bungalows were right at the beach for like $1. Water was like glass. Sand were white fine powder. There was a small cafe on the beach ran by a very nice older couple. Very good food and warm friendly service. But the pancakes were phenomenal! Best ever I promise. They said one of the visitors taught them. Must have been Gordon Ramsey. They were truly delicious served with strawberry jam. I have fond memories. It was truly paradise.

If you are overcharged , call the police immediately , I think it must go to jail .
Luckily we haven’t had many experiences like that in Thailand but we’ll keep it in mind! ❤️❤️

I would recommend one place which is quite impressed also, Koh Samae-San, Sattahip, white sand beach with crystal clear water 😊. Hope you enjoy your days at home, Thailand…🎉

It was on the west side of Koh Samet by Kerala Coco Resort & Ao Prao Resort. Such a nice area!! ❤️
