Thank you for the Beautiful Tribute to Don Briscoe. He was truly a great actor on Dark Shadows here. We are relatives. I am JOHN Briscoe From Memphis Tennessee also. We are first Cousins. He was born March 20, 1940 and i was born March 18, 1945 We are Irish.
John, your cousin was one of the few actors who could so effectively portray both sympathetic and villainous characters. As a kid, I thoroughly enjoyed watching him in his diverse Dark Shadows roles. God bless him!
Great actor and he and Joel Crothers were the best-looking actors on Dark Shadows! I am rewatching the series after many years and am enjoying his performances.
He was the most focused actor in the entire series. Beautiful brown eyes, strong chin, those sideburns, handsome and great presence on camera. How he didn't surpass the others in teen idoldom or gone further in his career always puzzled me. There's really not a lot told about what happened to him. All I've read is that he was an avid reader, kept to himself, and that he got mixed up in the underground of something, drugs and depression. Gained weight, dropped out and went home to die. The world was too much with him. A tragic artist. Thank you for this tribute.
An eloquent, touching, and inspiring tribute to Mr. Donald Briscoe. He remains one of my favorite actors from this show. His gentle spirit and innate kindness shown through in every scene--a reflection of his upbringing and native soil. He possessed a handsomeness and natural grace not seen in contemporary "stars". The music you have chosen so fits him. He is much loved and missed by those blessed to be family and friends, and by those who came to know him through his various roles.
PS: SUCH A BEAUTIFUL TRIBUTE VIDEO.ALL I CAN SAY NOW IS: (RIP) TO FORMER DARK SHADOWS ACTORS THE LATE DENISE NICKERSON & THE LATE DON BRISCOE. DENISE PASSED ON IN FY 2019 & MR. BRISCOE OF HEART DISEASE IN FY 2004 AT HIS PARENT'S HOME IN MEMPHIS, TN. THEIR TV LEGACY IS FOREVER IN THE HEARTS OF ALL DARK SHADOWS FANS.
Denise Nickerson (Amy Jennings) later said that she was heartbroken when the characters of Tom and Chris Jennings met such sad endings in the show, as she came to regard Don Briscoe as a real life big brother.
Such heart felt comments about this one man. I am so glad to be finding these websites. I have wanted to express my feelings and really have had no way of doing so. This is such a beautiful forum to do so for Don Briscoe. He was my absolute favorite on the series. And quite honestly, I have not had such an interest in any others in the acting profession since him even after all these decades. It's both ironic and tragedy that his personal life was so closely depicted in his characters on dark shadows. You're right he epitomizes the type of man any woman would have wanted to spend her life with. Thanks for all these comments.
He was a tormented character both on the show, and had real-life demons. Sadly ended his last 20 years as a recluse. But thanks to his role on Dark Shadows, we will always remember him for what he was in the series: a heroic and charismatic person.
Beautiful choice of a song as well. I have heard it said that Don was extremely nice in person (then again, all the DS actors and actresses were). With his Southern demeanor and charm, coupled with his wonderful diction, he could have made a great Shakespearean actor. Very well done video, you are to be commended!
Thank you!! Don Briscoe has always been a favorite with me, and I agree about the Shakespearian possibilities, but then again, he was so good he probably could have portrayed anything he wanted to.
***** You are welcome. I remember being terrified by Tom Jennings as a kid, but on the other hand, I always felt sorry for him. Don was the master of the "wounded puppy" look. A great actor and a great man, may he rest in Heaven.
I believe Don was born in 1940 so he was 64 at that time. If anyone would be the epitome of the type of man that most women would want to spend the rest of their lives with, it would be him. Life is so sad......

Oh, wow, I'm so happy to hear you think it's worthy of him! I can't begin to say how much your comment means to me. I am definitely a huge fan of his

***** .
He seemed too tender hearted, too vulnerable to be an actor.
Great actor and he and Joel Crothers were the best-looking actors on Dark Shadows! I am rewatching the series after many years and am enjoying his performances.
Thank you so much for this tribute. Don Briscoe was my favorite actor on Dark Shadows. You did a beautiful job.

I can only imagine how sad she was when Don himself passed away.

Donna Gooden Definitely the best young talent DS had!
thank you for this video. It was wonderful
I was 17 at the time that I first saw him - On "Dark Shadows"

Reminds me of young Lee Majors
I did not know he passed away. How did he die? He must have been very young.
