Really like the work. I have made leather sheaths for years and have fallen in love with the sheath style that you find on old Daniel Winkler knives. Very traditional Native American/ French Trade era style. Lots of raw hide use. I am a bit of a perfectionist but the natural and imperfect, rugged look that His Wife made are incredible

Simple, minimal materials, bust most of all functional while still being aesthetically pleasing.
That’s exactly what I was going for 👌🏼the owner of the hatchet is quite the minimalist so I tried my best to make it suit her :)

Knives are carried in sheaths, Axes are cased in Masks. Never the less, nice job on your Axe Mask. Hand stitching, burnishing, and “Sno-Seal”, shows craftsmen ship, well done 👍.

Nice job. I found that if you point the hose of a shop vac (trigger clamps and duct tape work great) at the sander, there is much less cleanup. Thanks for the video.

I personally like the mask strap to go around the shoulder of the handle…but that just my preference

I'm fan of the natural look also. My first ax sheath many years ago leaves a few things to desire. Now it's 8 oz. Leather and line 24 snaps. :)
I love the natural/simple look too but I also love tooling… haha hard finding the balance sometimes! :p thanks for watching

I got a friend to make them for me. Their made out of aluminum, they get pricy when your looking as brass. Lots of places to look online tho 👌🏼

As for your questions… you can tool pressed leather but it gets difficult if it already has a finish. The stamping won’t set properly, the best to to get natural vegtan and dye it yourself.
As for my swivel knife… I honestly don’t have any fancy one. Was a cheap thing I bought at a leather store, don’t know the brand?
And lastly Yeeesss… I’ve been wanting to do one for a while now. Just need to get to designing. ☺️
Amazing work the boys said it’s an axe their size lol and how often should I reapply the water proofing stuff on my axe and knife sheaths?

Great job. What stitching method did you use on this project?
It’s a saddle stitch… using the “piggy back method”
What setting do you use on your heat gun when sealing the Sno-Seal coating. I live in New Jersey. I know we don't get the extreme weather that your do, but I hunt and would like to waterproof my leather gear. I really enjoy your videos.
There’s only a low and high setting, I use the low. It just needs to feel hot to the touch and the wax will absorb 👌🏼 I know some ppl will apply it around a fire… gotta be careful with that one tho ;) and thank you, it’s much appreciated. ☺️

Curious, you put on Neats Foot Oil before the dye? Never seen this done before, is there a reason or benefit? BTW, great job on the sheath!
Thanks so much. ☺️ and it’s a new trick I recently learnt, it’s so much better this way… it allows the dye to soak in more evenly annnd you don’t need to apply as many coats. Definitely recommend 👌🏼
