    He was a legit philosopher without trying. It doesn't get any more real than that. Rest in the Waves forever king.

    Everyone has their own version of reality. Think for yourself, experience for your benefit and give to grow. Thank you Tom for loving the ocean.

    Beautiful. What great gifts people have that are never exposed or appreciated! Funny, I'm a teacher but when I was in school my mind was in the ocean, making waves break with the corner page of my book! Thanks mom for letting me ditch to go surfing! Nowadays breaking the "socially acceptable" norms of going to school, getting a job, house, marriage, kids, etc. is pretty easy and even fairly common. But back then it was less than unheard of! This guy was a pioneer and frontier blazer! How can you not be moved by his commitment to follow his soul, against all odds?
    Much mahalos to neuralsurfer for the inspiring tribute! Log live TB!

    This is Surfing's prophet.
    He is alone in the mists of time and stands taller than anyone else.
    ONLY the Duke deserves an equal standing as surfing personality.
    The DUKE showed us all to be humble + safety first, rescuing many.
    But,Tom Blake showed the way as the original heroic quiet man.
    He found something way too good to share with the fools who think power is other than love; that genious need only be cereberal.Thank you Tom Blake, you saved my life. If you only could see kitesurfing now.

      I'm totally not into water sports or sport at all. Anyway too little to call me sport head.
      But Tom Blake really inspired me.
      I hear about him perhaps first time in my life (last 15 minutes) but hey... This is wonderful that such a person existed on the very this planet. ❤
      Tough times create tough people.
      And I won't finish the sentence above.

      PS. Oh that pie about mists of times. I love it. ❤

      I didn't die, hopefully I'll live a wee while, now that I've learned how to live! I'm not an athlete, I'm an artist. This is also the first time I heard about this legend: Tom Blake. My father's generation, what a trail blazer. Loved your comment about kite surfing. I often 'tell' my dad about new discoveries that he would have loved to have known.

    I feel like people who are in tune with the ocean, gain wisdom and peace most could only learn from practices like Zen. Its funny because Ive been reading and practicing a lot of Zen recently and what he says really parallels the ideas of Zen. The simple raw realities of the ocean reveals us to the true nature of our lives

    - Surfrider & Swimmer -
    The knowledge you get in schools and colleges is second-hand.
    The wisdom and know-how you get from the sea and waves,
    and water is virgen,new and flitting.
    By all means, get some of this kind of education.

    No-one would like to be killed so I stop eating animals. I love that.
    Especially that in last days I realized again (after 20 years of life - I'm 30 rn.) that that's the predators like humans make other species, not at a time but one by one animal, one by one species to go extinct.
    So many examples. We ate them or there were too dangerous and we just killed them.
    Expending whole life is expanding and killing innocent in theirs homes.
    Damn I'm high...

    Basic reasoning will refute his philosophy. How can existence be explained by a god who is part of his own creation? Do you know know anyone who can create something and also be the thing that’s created? Basic common sense contradict it. Of course perhaps god could be anything! But if you think like this pretty soon you’ll be saying black is white or women are men. Wait the world already does say that! Talk about the blind leading the blind. The mans surfing is beautiful but his philosophy is nuts!

    • @jm7804
      @jm7804 3 роки тому +3

      Why do simple-minded people always have to default to the belief that a sentient being must be the creator/god? For cryin' out loud can you put away your dusty old bible for two seconds and allow people to express their beliefs without attacking them out of insecurity?

    • @jonnyvincent2236
      @jonnyvincent2236 3 роки тому

      @@jm7804 what you have written is offensive arrogant prejudiced and ignorant in very large degree. What I wrote is not simple minded and if you thought honestly and originally about it you would understand ….after a long time I’d say. And probably with a lot of help …and an encyclopaedias worth of extra information about the world you live in. But you are right to assume I’m a Christian although my Bible is not dusty; it’s life giving power is greater than any of the misconceived superstitions you may have. I presume you probably believe the scientific impossibility that everything came from nothing by pure chance

    • @jm7804
      @jm7804 3 роки тому

      @@jonnyvincent2236 You call someone who spends their entire life understanding and respecting nature "nuts" and then claim I'm arrogant and ignorant? You have the writing skills of a third grader, which explains a lot actually. I'm guessing your IQ is somewhere in the 90s. You're a simpleton, and that's being kind.

    • @jonnyvincent2236
      @jonnyvincent2236 3 роки тому

      @@jm7804 wow. FYI I wasn’t actually trying to insult you. What I wrote was actually meant. Life is much deeper than you comprehend

    • @jonnyvincent2236
      @jonnyvincent2236 3 роки тому

      Two points I’d like to make: 1.I never criticised the man and I didn’t call him ‘nuts’. I wrote that his philosophy was ‘nuts’ and that’s an honest opinion which I’m free to share. 2. I didn’t write anything from insecurity - how could you possibly know if I did or didn’t without jumping to your own conclusions? I never attacked the man. As I wrote, I think his surfing and his contribution to surfing was phenomenal and wonderful. His philosophy, however, is illogical and half baked. It’s not a personal attack for me to say that. It was you who made it personal while attacking me with your own prejudiced and I’ll considered words. Can you not see how hypocritical that was of you?
